i have a problem ... it say " Couldn't locate decompressor for format 'wmv3'(unknown) ,,, VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."
Thank you so much for your help, I'm a translator and was having trouble in merging the subtitles with the video, as the subtitling program I use doesn't do it automatically...but you video was really helpful and my client was very pleased with the final result!! :)))

thanks bro!...such a big help...i'm having a hard time downloading same video with the subtitles on the video and not loading it...hahahaha..now i know how to merge them together..thank you so much...now i can watch movies like crazy again to my iPod :)
Every time I try to convert an SRT file to SSA I get a "INPUT FILE ERROR, SUBTITLE #1". What is the problem. Is there any way I can send you the file to look at it?
Thanks so much, bro. I couldn't find any help on how to do this as I wanted to watch an .Avi file on the PS3 with subtitles but the subtitles were in a seperate file, not hard burnt.

when i download my subs it dosnt download them in the language i downloaded them in (like i download them in hebrew and it shows me some wierd random characters please help!!)
I have 2 questions. 1. Will they work with 1280x720 HD avis? & 2. I have an srt with some added info; as well as the English plain dialogue, some occasional lines are explanatory notes coded in size and colour which appear at the same time as dialogue in a different part of the screen (just above the dialogue), and there's also some Japanese character text for songs in another colour... will I be able to upload it like that into this program?
I did all the procedure accordingly and it was perfect except the output .avi file with the subtitle have the file size of more than 20GB! What's wrong here? Can you help me please?
I know a much better program wich foesnt need all those convertings and its done like in 5minutes... It just basicly adds the subs in the video. Program is called: Submux tottaly free go check it out
when i try the last step to add video it says couldnt load decompressor... divx 4+ and that virtuadub needs video for windows (VFW) something ...... help please :(
I've been doing this for some time its been working well but .......now I encountered a problem ....Input file error, subtitle #1 ??? any guess in whats the problem .

Hey, I followed this movie, I did that with the movie goal 2 but when it was ready virtualdub made the file 65 Gb... so i can't put it to a dvd. So could you please help me to make the video to a smaller format?
Great tutorial very simply explained Thank you! P.S why is it in all youtube tutorials does the teacher suddenly start using "go ahead and..." every other word ??!!
Every time i try to load the .vdf file it tells me that it 'cannot load plugin module "C:\Users\Anthony\Desktop\subtitler-2_4\Subtitler.vdf": %1 is not a valid Win32 application.'. Makes no sense because I run windows 7 so whether it's win32 or not shouldn't be a problem, right?
It's less to do with the length of the movie and more to do with the size of the file. Even then, there's no set amount of time it can take because it comes down to other variables like the speed of your computer and other running processes you may have.
But it not works for me.. Then i try to open my Avi video in VirtuelDub.. This is in the end of your video it says: "is of an unknown or unsupported file type" The video is on my drive E: My extern harddisk? Can this be the problem?!

Ok, this is probably going to sound strange. When I download SRT to SSA converter and open Conversor.exe I can only see half of the window that opens. I've tried to Maximize it and everything, but it doesn't show the Browse button nor the Convert button. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one (I have a tendency of doing that).

It seems to be the app I was looking for but I have not used it because the app to convert .srt to .ssa is not working for me. it gives me the same error in my three PCs (Input file error, subtitle #1). Do you have any idea why? do you know any other software to convert .srt to .ssa? Thank you so much.
