  • Nice video and very clearly described, thank you.

I have 2 questions. 1. Will they work with 1280x720 HD avis? & 2. I have an srt with some added info; as well as the English plain dialogue, some occasional lines are explanatory notes coded in size and colour which appear at the same time as dialogue in a different part of the screen (just above the dialogue), and there's also some Japanese character text for songs in another colour... will I be able to upload it like that into this program?

  • When I load my avi file, it gives me an error saying:

"Couldn't locate decompresser for format 'X264' (Uknown)

VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable."

What should I do to fix this problem =/?

  • @SirRenjie I have the sameproblem..

  • it's estimating my video to be over 80 thousand meg. what's with that?

  • Every time i try to load the .vdf file it tells me that it 'cannot load plugin module "C:\Users\Anthony\Desktop\subtitler-2_4\Subtitler.vdf": %1 is not a valid Win32 application.'. Makes no sense because I run windows 7 so whether it's win32 or not shouldn't be a problem, right?

  • which screen recorder do you use, this looks a bit like camtasia?

  • @easterbunneeeh It is camtasia.

  • how long does this take? im doing this on a movie..abt 2 hrs long...:|

  • @guardian123452

It's less to do with the length of the movie and more to do with the size of the file. Even then, there's no set amount of time it can take because it comes down to other variables like the speed of your computer and other running processes you may have.

  • I can't open it in VirtualDub..!

  • Ok, this is probably going to sound strange. When I download SRT to SSA converter and open Conversor.exe I can only see half of the window that opens. I've tried to Maximize it and everything, but it doesn't show the Browse button nor the Convert button. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one (I have a tendency of doing that).

  • @Xxxsorrow You're not the only one

I've got the same problem but no-one has a solution

  • Firstly, Great Tutorial. It helped me a lot, so thank you.

But you also made me laugh with your habit of 'Going Ahead', seriously :D I counted 57 in this one video!

"Ok, so first you wana go ahead and..."

"..and once you've done that you can go ahead and..." Brilliant!

  • it says could not locate decompressor for format XVID (unknown) when i try to open the avi file in virtual dub!! what should I do??

  • you know what , i almost done everything ,

at least when i opened a video , IT IS MP4 FORMAT !!!

its unsupported by virtual dub ,

    can u plz help ,

i want to merge the mp4 file , not avi :(

    plz help

    thx

  • @psiddhant convert it to avi, when you added the subs, you can convert it back:)

  • Virtual Dub won't open my avi video file because of this error message

Couldn't locate decompressor for format xvid unknown)

VirtualDub requires a Video for Windows (VFW) compatible codec to decompress video. DirectShow codecs, such as those used by Windows Media Player, are not suitable.

    What do I do please?

  • I got to add my avi video succesfully but it plays slowly and lags ...what wrong?

  • Got everyhting to work except not all the subtitles show, only some

  • @Happyj31 i got the same problem too : (

  • @Happyj31 Google and download a XVID Codec file. Not the player and install. Then the program will open your video. :)

  • @Happyj31 did you ever figure out the error problem i have the same issue

  • Great tutorial, thankx so much!

  • This video is awesome. I had to change my subs from idx to srt, first (but took care of that anyway). But this was awesome for merging the two files. Thank you for uploading this video.

  • Thank you very much. I followed your video step-by-step and everything worked out perfectly.

  • Thank you very much man. (Y)

  • ok now what do i do with this .sub and .idx file i have for this avi file?

  • not working.

  • it doesnt work i followed step by step but it just doesnt work :s what am i doing wrong?

  • I was wondering if I can use two subtitle files simultaneously. For example I am watching a movie in French, and I don't know french, but I have both English and French subtitles for the movie, and I want to see them both,so I can understand the movie, and can understand french also.So can you please tell me some way to do it?Please explain in detail!

  • this is great but it makes the file much bigger than to make it smaller.. i merge my movie and sub file with this, and from 600mb it became 8gb. is there anyway i can save the file and still the size won't change or rather make it smaller but the quality of the video will never change... ???

  • is this compatible wit windows 7?

  • @crisys09 Yes. Works with every Windows operating systems.

  • Thanks. maybe the app. does not accept any other language than english...i do not know. Thanks a lot.

  • I mean sony vegas pro 9 :S

  • Heyy nick can you do a getting to know song vegas video as i am quite clumzy with it thanks :)

  • Thank so much. It seems to be the app I was looking for but I have not used it because the app to convert .srt to .ssa is not working for me. it gives me the same error in my three PCs (Input file error, subtitle #1). Do you have any idea why? do you know any other software to convert .srt to .ssa? Thank you so much.

  • @serdelosreyes im sorry its not working for you i really have no explanation but im glad you enjoyed the video.

  • @a11021085

    SER DEH LOHS RAYEHS (pronounciation)

His name means (Person from the Kings)

    :D

  • @serdelosreyes Open the .srt file with notepad, delete the whole #0 section. Afterwards try again, it should work ;)

  • cool
