What is frustrating about your video is the lack of information about your products, what makes it superior over literally hundreds of other products that do a fairly decent/fantastic job?
The music if you want to call it that is terrible! You make good products lousy videos.
You want some seriously tough cleaner on your motor try Eagle one mag cleaner on aluminum parts. Now that will clean all your gunk and will leave it looking like new aluminum...
never for ever spray cold water on your hot engine.. remember these are aluminum heads.. cold water will crack it easily .. then it would be an expensive thousand dollar car wash
Wont dirt cake on the dressing later on? Engine looks like it was sprayed with tire shine. Tire shine or engine dressing... same difference. Easier to replace plastic bits with new parts to keep that new look instead of spraying gunk on it.
@202brabus if you want less shine, you can use a towel and rub the areas to lessen the shine. You can also choose not to use the dressing for an OEM look.
@meguiarsasia OR you can always use a dressing that leaves a matte finish. Something like 303 Aerospace Protectant , Adam's VRT, or Opti-bond diluted 1:1. There are plenty of other dressings that really do a great job of protecting without leaving the surface all oily and nasty. All the products I mentioned are water based, they give rubber, vinyl, and plastic a natural brand new look but are completely dry to the touch, no dirt is attracted to it.
WOW thank you guys, so much for making all these videos to help me out. i do my own car detailing myself i let no one else touch ,and meguiars products really helps me as a regular Joe get the job done with professional results, i have told all my family and friends to ONLY use your guys product THE BEST ON STORE SHELF'S BY FARR!! and i had so many swirls! on my black car the ultimate compound is AS GOOD AS GOLD! i would of payed TOP dollar for those types and Meguiars is so affordable,SO THXS
Too bad this is only sold outside the US. Here I use a product called CD-2 Engine Detailer sold at Autozone. It works fantastic. I wish they sold this Meguiar's one here though, since every Meguiar's product I use blows me away and keeps me coming back for more. The only time I don't use Meguiar's is when they don't make it or I can't buy it like these two products.
@86pacer Look on Amazon, they have a bunch of Meguiars products. I just bought some Gold Class Trim Detailer off there because I couldn't find it anywhere around where I live.
I buy Gold Class Trim Detailer locally at Orchard Supply Hardware for $4.99. It's a great product.
Meguair's Engine Dressing is only available on the UK Amazone site, and during the checkout process it tells you they can't ship it to the US so U can't even buy it there. I'd really like to know why it isn't sold here in the US along with all their other products.
Basically the US team feels there is no need for every line item with lack of demand. If you feel there IS a need, please let the US team know! Call them for more info at 1-800-347-5700
I have a Mercedes ML63amg. This video is obviously perfect for what I am trying to do but, I can't locate the engine cleaner or dressing off of the Meguiars website. Can you provide me with a link for this?
@86pacer because theres too many stupid idiots in the USA who'll flood their engines (intakes, alternators, carbs) and then try to sue meguiars for their stupidity. shame, this product looks awesome, especially the engine dressing.
megs please sell it in the USA, just put a huge warning sticker on it or something.
I have 2004 Mercedes ML350. I would like to clean the engine. Alternator and distributor cap is there anything else need to cover? To warm up the engine how long do I need to run the engine (10 minutes?). The final step - after you clean the engine and applied the dressing, closed the hood and start washing the car 10-15minutes. Should I let the engine turn on or just leave it off while washing the car? Thanks for sharing the video, it is great!
let the engine get warm enough to hold hand above engine but not too hot....you do not want the cleaner to dry too fast...i would let the engine run with the dressing so it dries and the water will evaporate. If it is not dried enough....simply take an applicator pad to soak up any extra dressing or water.
I got a 97 t-bird....I just have a detail shop do it for me every year. Its pretty cheap at $40 US and if anything goes wrong they are liable so its safe if you are concerned about doing it yourself but want a clean engine.
normally we would recommend this for vehicles that are 5 years old or newer....if you DO want to do it, take your time to cover any batteries or wiring or such things with bags and carefully water the engine. If you are in doubt...by hand only with no water.
the general rule of thumb is if its a vehicle that is 5 years old or newer, it should be OK. If you are concerned, the best thing would be to ask the vehicle manufacturer before hosing it down. I personally have done this to vehicles ranging in age from 1980 to 2008 and have had no issues yet. : )
to be honest id never clean a mercedes engine of that size as it might damage the sensors. id use a steam cleaner as that would only lay for an hour. if you know about this my fathers engine is fithy and needs a clean but what do i need to cover up without it going wrong? its a saab 9-3 2.0i non turbo thanks.
Hi coolcars..yes these products should be fine for a new vehicle within the past 5 years. Most older vehicles to be very very safe you can take a plastic bag and cover any sensitive sensors, batteries or alternators.
When detailing an engine, you have to be careful and when in doubt either do not do it or refer to the manufacturer or the vehicle. In some cases, the engine can be delicate.
a SAAB 1998 is pushing the age limit. Normally a car that is 5 years old and newer is ok but with an older vehicle, it should be ok, just be careful of loose wiring, batteries or any electrical components. If you are very worried, just hold off on doing it...better safe than sorry. This Mercedes Benz had no problems after we were finished...if you get a chance...its an amazing product combo to use!
OMFG I would never spray that crap on my engine or hose it down like that.
