I noticed that with the tilt, a small keyboard comes up on the screen when you want to type. there are other versions of keyboards that HTC phones can download such as the sure type T9 key board. would I be able to install the sure type T9 keyboard software? if so, do you know which website offers the software?

I forgot to mention..the opera browser allows you to view web pages exactly as you see them on your PC...not the mobile versions unless you choose to. Double tap the page and it zooms in with perfect clarity...all the pics stay intact etc etc

Another cool thing I found that is awesome on the TILT is the Opera browser...a lot better than the IE browser

I would like to know if the tilt will work with Mac OS X on iMacs

It depends on what you want to do with the Mac and the Tilt. Syncing PIM info and certain kinds of settings and files is possible via Missing Sync software. Transferring files via Bluetooth back and forth between the Tilt and a Mac is possible as well.

What exactly did you want to do with your Tilt and Mac?

Yes, as long as you have either a Bluetooth or a USB connection you should be able to transfer files between your Mac and Tilt.

I love my Tilt...best phone I ever had...you can use the free software on the site he suggests, or you can do what I did and go to Handango, and get the SPB mobile shell 2.1...yes its 29.95, but it TRANSFORMS the phones software...rotating menus, many colors,its awesome!

I don't really remember with the Tilt but there is one included with the unlocked TyTN 2.

besides the front VGA camera that the TYTN 2 has that the tilt doesnt, what else does the TyTN II have?

i want to buy the unlocked tytn 2 but its rather expensive. the tilt is 300 bucks, the tytn is around high 700s.

The Tilt does come with a screen protector. It's kind of like the little plastic protector with warnings that's on most phones when you first purchase them, however, there are no warnings on the protector. Make sure to wash your hands before putting the protector on or you'll have fingerprints on it.

btw, don't ever worry about fingerprints on screen protectors. u can clean it up by putting a sticky tape on the finger prints. leave it for 2 minutes. and take it off. good as new.

This video was shot just before the 3G network was released in my area. If you take a look at more recent videos where I have the unlocked HTC TyTN II you will see that 3G is available on the screen. As far as 3G being available in your area, that's another story.

Luckily, i'm in a heavily populated downtown area. We have more 3g than we can handle.

For gps, is 3g totally necessary? If i were driving and using 3g with gps in one area and then i drive into an edge area, will gps still download the maps from the network okay?

Btw: looking through all your videos you have hands down the best, most informative video demos of the tilt i've seen on the net. Your videos pushed me to get a tilt after just selling my iPhone.

Whether the network is 3G or EDGE, the GPS will still keep uploading updated information all the same and I don't think that speed would be that much different. This is assuming that your reception is sufficient, otherwise a random dead zone would be another story.

I am happy that my videos have helped you. I know how it is to do online research for gadgets and it is always great to get some sort of reliable information.

1 more thing: Does the tilt include headphones and a case in the box? I heard from one source it did and another it didn't. Makes my brain hurt deciphering through all this info. Do you personally use wired headphones or bluetooth for music?

Just called a local AT&T rep at a store who informed that it comes with mini-USB earbuds, a USB cord and a manual. There is no case. I used to have the Tilt at one point but returned it and got the unlocked HTC TyTN II instead.

I typically do not like music from the HTC due to the external mono speaker and I tend to rely solely on my iPod for music. Even if I had an adapter to use my own headphones, I think the sound wouldn't be as good as an iPod or a Nokia Nseries phone.

Retail price without the upgrade credit is about $540 from AT&T. With the upgrade price it is about $300 if I am not mistaken.

As with any 3rd party software you load onto your smartphone there is always a chance that it could be risky. But the likelihood of that happening can be slim to none if you are careful and use good judgement.

hey trent. When you push the power button, does it just turn the screen off or does it lock the phone? If it does not lock the phone, how do you do it?

One press of the button locks the screen and the control panel buttons. Holding down the button turns off the phone.

Totally understood. I am at a point where I plan to spend no money on anything I do not need, and that may be for a number of years. This is a conscious decision to pick a device that can at least work for me, for the iPhone's lack of native customization got old. I am also in hopes of getting an IT job, so the Windows Mobile is most compatible out in the business world.

& did open & download it on my Tilt Storage card

& then tryed a soft reboot

But i cant see the File in the Folder i download it & it did not open :(

I also went in setting to change from Home setting but it just has the 4 option origanaly put by At&t no new one for me to change it too :(

Did you try going into File Explorer and installing the app first? The download from the web is only for the file, and then the app must be installed from there onto the phone.

If you did download everything properly, then the HTC Home plugin can be selected under the Settings, Today, and then the Items menu.
