They're the same ending =) This is after the other ending. I don't think it's an alternate ending to the story - this is just the explicit ending but the same story ending.

Unless I understand it incorrectly, Gabriel fell on his own to be with Amitiel instead of being returned to "Him" that he refer to as "You" whom he is subservient to.

And in this clip Amitiel looks as if she liked the angel version better.

@Alkaloidpun I don't think you get the ending. If he returned as an Arch everything he had gone through and the feelings he experienced would have been forgotten. Instead of forgetting he decided to become mortal so that when he died his spirit would live on with the memories of what he'd gone through. This alt ending is what's implied when he says to, I'm assuming, god, "In time you will form your works and all this will be forgotten. I can't let that happen. I won't let it happen."
