  • mhhhmmm i kno horses shudnt b sluaghtered 4 dog food

  • Happy New Year from another Fritz! Love your video, Fritz

  • So true horses are not raised for food. So you must worm your horses every 3 to six months with different wormers. If you don't they can get many different kinds of worms including Bots which people can get. So horses have many chemicals in them and maybe this is one reason cancer exists. These chemicals are dangerous. Cattle are raised to be eaten still not good but not like horse meat some day we will see what happens to our children's health. I love this video

  • Cheers to your Video! *SUPER*!... Make some more, Plz. lol :-)

  • Hope they don,t have this dog-food, in Canada, now!? I,m against slaughtering EQUINES, for food, and the inhumain procedures, like at Richilieu Meats, Qc and Alberta. These multy-million industries are just greed and gouverments, support all this. We Canadiens, pay TAXES for these hell-holes and its not right, and I do not consume this meat, neither does my pet Dog! Horses are tortured in these camps and are suffering, right to their last breath, for BOUVRY inc. SHAME on him. tks

  • take heem avay. lol

  • excellent!

  • How clever...thanks for the education

ps the little dog is adorable

  • hahahahahahahahahahaha love it halarious!

  • Well done Well Said......sigh....

  • Sad, but true

  • Very clever and well done and hits many of the issues that need to be addressed surrounding horse slaughter.

  • Fritz...we love you! What a smart little doggie you are and CUTE!

    Say NO to Horse Slaughter!

Keep USA Horses in the Pastures and off the tables, and doggie dishes!

  • Thank you so much to everyone who watched, rated, and commented. This video won the contest, and the prize is to go to The Equihab Foundation in North East, Maryland!

  • Fritz you are a very smart doggie. Horsemeat is not good for you . . . or Canadians.

  • Looks like Fritz is smarter than the elected officials who are trying to legalize horse slaughter! Hope he wins.

  • hope you win the contest Fritz! good job! good dog!

  • An excellent way to show that horse slaughter is not needed or wanted.

  • Even a dog knows the truth when he looks at it...

  • EXCELLENT.

  • Greate video hope Fritz wins on this contest. Surely shows the truth about the drugs in horses. Maybe USDA and the AVMA will be watching and learn something too.

    Equihab ROCKS

  • I was laughing at that. That was cute! and thanks for showing people the truth!

  • I love Fritz and I think his message is important. I would recommend to the videographer, though, to shorten it, particularly the middle bit. I found the ending powerful.

  • just say WHOA to horse slaughter!

  • Well done! Go Fritz!

  • nice job :) fritz

  • Do they really give horses Dextromethorphan?

  • @WormsEatingYourEyes Absolutely. While we use it for its antitussive properties, it is used in horses for anti-cribbing. See, e.g., "The effect of the NMDA receptor blocker, dextromethorphan, on cribbing in horses", Pharmacol Biochem Behav. 2001 Jan;68(1):49-51.

  • A very cute idea for presenting this information, but I felt it was a bit drawn out and caused me to lose interest part way thru. I think it could have been written better so as hold interst longer. But, a very cute and endearing way of presenting the issues for sure ;^)

  • i love you, fritz

  • Woof!

  • Cute dog and VERY important message. Our horses deserve better.

  • so cute.

    Good awareness too

  • This is the best anti-slaughter video. Way to go Fritz. You tell it as it really is!!

  • Credits are genius.

  • Fritz should make a trip to Washington. Maybe he could nip at the heels of the members of Congress and get them moving on the passage of HR503 and S727.

  • Yes Fritz, Need you on March 25, 2010 DC for the protest for Wild Horses & Burros! And we all know the BLM slaughters wild horses, on the "sneak.".

  • This is one of the best anti-slaughter videos I've ever seen! You tell 'em, Fritz!

  • What a great voice for a dachshund, I like the video and the message about horses and Fritz in particular.

Hope you get enough viewers to rescue Fritz and any other horses that are in perril.

  • I thought this was very cute :)

  • Send this video to Congressmen. Maybe Fritz can get the message out that they will understand: BAN HORSE SLAUGHTER!

  • @dawnstar101 Great idea!

  • pretty scary...never knew all this happened...pretty scary

  • Even Fritz is smart enough to know that American horse meat is toxic. It's a shame that people over sea's just don't get it!

  • Excellent Fritz! Let all your dog friends know about the inhumane slaughter of horses and how the US government wants to poison people in the UK and Canada and the dogs. Yea Fritz!

  • Bravo. Keep Fritz Healthy. Don't eat Horses!

  • I like the video and I like Fritz. The subject of horse slaughter is not easily broached with kids, but Fritz can raise awareness in the young and old that horses are not meant for consumption. Period. Fritz deserves the prize for Equihab!

  • Fritz - you're my hero! Let's get those silly human's educated!

  • Awesome!!!! I will pass the link on to this video.

  • This video is entered in the ABR Video Contest. If we can get enough views & feedback, the ABR Board will donate $1,000 to Equihab. The Equihab Foundation is a 501c3 non profit horse rescue & educational program, protecting horses from abandonment, abuse, and neglect. This $1,000 donation would be especially needed right now, as our local area is in a recession. Every day good people are forced to give up their horses when they lose their jobs or homes. Thank you.

  • Bravo Fritz! Well said & Well done...

  • Yuppers, horses get sent to other countries because you all closed the plants down. Now who knows how they are treated in other counties. I know Mexico is SO quick and humane. Bravo.

BTW look up horses in the dictionary. They are LIVESTOCK.

I know for you city folk they are pets but for ALLOT of people they are still livelihoods.

Oh, and since you can pick up a 3 yr old for fifty bucks they are also DINNER.

    Y'all are just awesome.

  • Horses aren't raised for meat. Their value lays in the work they can do: speed, competition, pleasure riding, or just companionship. The role they play in our lives is much closer to dogs. You wouldn't open a puppy slaughterhouse, would you?

  • They have no value any longer because the market is flooded with culls. They are not pets. They are livestock.

I really don't understand this ad. The beef you buy in the store has hormones, steroids, dewormer and anything else that will get them to your plate faster. Whats the difference? Other than of course the meat probably being tough.

  • Many of the drugs listed at the end of he video are not like beef steroid; they're clearly labeled not for use in animals intended for slaughter. Cattle has withdrawal periods; horses do not. Cattle are raised their entire lives for food and aren't spending years racing, drugged daily with drugs such as Bute.

  • Oh, forgot. Actually there are places in the US that do raise horses to sell to the meat market. As do other countries. I have seen more people popping up in the US selling horses for riding or for personal slaughter. Horses are livestock and as such are used for labor and food. Not primarily in the US, though its getting there, but in France and other European countries.

  • Horses are economically not worth raising specifically for slaughter. Think about it logically: if you can only get $200 for a full grown horse from the killers, there's no way you could feed a horse for those 2-3 years for only $200. Horses take too long to get to full size, need more care than cattle, often need help giving birth, etc.

Horsemeat is not a normal part of the American diet, so I don't know what you mean by "in the US, it's getting there".

  • The ranches that raise them of course are raised specifically for the foreign market. Its done they do it. How many people pay more for Kobe beef for the way they are raised.

Now, Because the market is so slumped You can pick up a nice fat three year old for $50 bucks. Hell, they are giving horses away for free because they cant keep them. And family that cant sell their horse and are going hungry. Guess what is happening? They are eating their horses.

  • And why has this all happened because you city folk put emotions before reality.

Get practical here. I would rather see 900lbs of meat be used instead of rotting in a field.

I am a STRONG supporter of humane horse slaughter, for the benefit of the horse. Its needed and its practical. I'm getting real tired of seeing abused and starved horses.

  • For something to be humane it needs to be a peaceful and painfree ending.

  • @Crimsonhorse01 There is NO SUCH

THING as HUMANE horse slaughter. All the trucks and slaughter houses were designed for cattle and they DO NOT work for horses.

If you're seeing starved and abused horses - which I doubt - why haven't their owners taken them to slaughter? Even when slaughter houses were open here, we were shipping thousands of horses to Canada and Mexico. We still are - nothing has changed for the seller.

If slaughter's the answer, why are these horses still around???

  • Easiest answer is that they are not selling at the auction. The market is flooded with culls. Horses are being left at auctions, abandoned in ppls trailers, let loose on blm. Horses now have to endure the long trips and the unregluated slaughter in Mexico. At least in the US it was a shorter ride and was regulated by the USDA.

There will always be culls. Its part of having livestock. You get rid of the bad to only breed the best.

  • I'm not city folk. I own horses. If the market is down, that has NOTHING to do with the number of slaughter houses. DUH!

  • Who is eating their horses in America? Can you give me some names? Who is making a profit raising horses for the foreign market? I've hear this rumor before but every time I ask, nobody can come up with anything, Do you eat horsemeat a few times a week like chicken or beef? Do you raise "kobe" horsemeat? Or is this just something you hear from your friends in the meat business?

  • Who is the terrorist? How about the people who cruise free-to-good-home ads, lie through their teeth to get the horse, then take it straight to the killer pen. This is what they do instead of having a real job.

I'm sorry to hear you're eating horsemeat. I hope you'll google "toxins horsemeat" and find out how toxic some of those drugs are. You wouldn't sprinkle dewormer and bute on a sandwich normally, would you?

Why pay $50 when you can get dogs at the city pound for free?

  • Did I say taking free horses to kill? no I said buying horses. I always tell a person that I am going to butcher an animal I am planning to butcher. At an auction who cares? I wouldn't eat the old decrepit show horse. They would be tough anyways. Dewormer isnt bad anyways, they deworm humans with the same stuff.

Horses are livestock not pets like dogs. So Im really not getting why your bringing that up. I do not pass judgment on those people or cultures that do.

  • If you are butchering horses, you are breaking the law!

Besides, you're a troll. No one is dumb enough to seriously post what you do.

  • Find me proof that I am. You can message it to me if you want. Prove me wrong on anything I have said.

Ive only stated truth and facts. Horses are used for meat from Europe to Asia. The first real Americans ate horse as well. They were a people that did not waste. Unlike today.

Who made you God to decide what people can and cannot eat?

  • No one is telling anyone WHAT they can and cannot eat. If they want to eat horses, eat their own. Americans don't EAT HORSES. That's WHY the meat is toxic.

Horses are NOT classified as FOOD ANIMALS in the US - period. A livestock classification is NOT the same thing. You don't even seem to know the difference between a butcher shop and a slaughter house.

You're STILL breeding when there is NO market for your "product"? STOP breeding and there won't BE a glut on the market.

    You are sick.

  • I am a 100% born and raised American and ive eaten horse. I know of other Americans that have as well.

If the meat was toxic like you state there would be no demand, because everyone that ate it would be DEAD. Horses are considered food the plants were monitored by the USDA were they not?

  • I dont know the difference between a butcher shop and slaughter house? Both mean the same thing. A butcher shop can be a place where animals are killed and processed or just a placer where processed meat is sold.

I am still waiting for you to prove me wrong.

  • A slaughter house is where animals are slaughtered, a butcher shop is where slaughtered animals are sold. They are related, yes, but they're definitely not the same thing. What kind of f-in drugs are you on?

  • @Crimsonhorse01 I don't believe you are real. There are no commercial horse farms in the US. Do they take them to Canada or Mexico to have them slaughtered, then bring them back home to eat? That's illegal.

    You are a troll.

    You are a troll

  • Call me what you want. I really dont care. Id rather be practical and real.

Anyways if you were anywhere knowledgeable you would know that its still for the foreign market, they have been doing it for a while. Its just not an open topic. Mainly due to the ppl like you.

  • Horse meat is Illegal to sell for human consumption in the US. Now, you can give away meat or trade it. No law against it. The only place that says its illegal to have horse on your plate is Cali, no big surprise there. Due to Michigan only letting you "humanely" euthanize a horse by a vet. Its hard to do there. Due to regulations set commercial butcher shops cannot butcher horses. BUT, those regulations do not stand for at personal butcher shops.

  • Horses may be classified as livestock, but that is NOT the same as being classified as FOOD!

My GOD! Educate yourself before you post!

  • Horses weren't treated much better in OUR slaughter houses either, pal. I'm NOT city folk. I actually OWN horses, and have for over 30 years. Horses may be still classified as livestock, but they are NOT classified as food animals. Makes ALL the difference.

As I posted, slaughter is still just as available as ever. And I don't believe ANYONE in the US makes their LIVING selling horses for slaughter! I'm not even sure it's legal. There were only TWO plants here anyway.

  • Great job! Very clever and fun way to get the message across!

  • Great idea to deliver such a serious message in such a fun way. Definitely an attention-getter. Hope Equihab wins the $1,000!

  • Love it!

  • Thanks for the fun video with a great message. I'm reluctant to watch any HS videos because it's such a gruesome subject. I hope your video wins the money for your favorite horse rescue charity.

  • Wonderful way to get a true message across! Great job!!

  • Cute & informative! So many horse slaughter info. vids are too difficult for many to watch. This is great! :)

  • Wonderful video, I hope everyone watches this, and realizes what is going on, and what is really in their dog food!

  • Great job making the video for HS! Kudos!

  • I am a member of Team Barbaro Pennsylvania! I am also a proud owner of a dachshund. Our first dachshund who looked very much like this was named: Fritz! Well done! Good points and excellant video!

  • This is great!!! I love the voice!

  • Wonderfully done!

  • Oh Fritz, my kittens watched and were shocked, although they recognized your feline friend at the end of your movie--did she have a guest starring role on a sitcom recently? Anyhow, hope you raise the funds for the 501(c)3 recipient!

  • Wonderful done! The ending totally suprised and amazed me... I'd been going along with and enjoying the "tease the cute hungry dachshund" bit but not sure where it was headed until the really dramatic and impressive final message! Kudos for delivering such important information with such an original punch!

  • Fritz is *always* hungry, so you can't really call it teasing!

  • fritz is awesome

  • great video, Fritz! I'll share this with my friends... and help Fritz in winning the ABR Video Contest.... which will give a horse rescue a $1,000 prize!
