i noticed while watchin this that you have a few extra effects under the cake walk effects tab that i dont have in my software, like flanger and chorus and a few others. is this because u added them or did i do something wrong wen i installed the software?
Greetings, i have a seriuos problem with the snap to grid tool in Sonar X1.. Why does not work the snap to grid tool in my Staff View ????
I've tried everything and nothing works, the notes on the staff do what they want, I can not be accurate at the time write a note on the staff for that reason, PleaseHelp me, Very thanks
i have a electric drum kit at home, and a midi usb cable that connects to my pc to the drum kit,, how can i use this software to record the sound produce by my drums??? someone pls help me T_T i new to this recording worldddd
@mercuryuge I would recommend using the auto save feature, in Preferences under the File tab and Advanced, you can set when to save the project after so many minutes or after so many changes. This way you dont have to worry about saving yourself and concentrate on your music.
can i use a instrument that i got off the internet on this Cakewalk SONAR X1 STUDIO software cuz i DON'T make my own instrument i just use the ones i get off the internet and will it work on my mixer board its called behringer
Would you recommend that I upgrade from Sonar X1 Studio to Sonar X1 Producer? I get the feeling that if I really want to make professional recordings - I'm going to have to upgrade. Are there some fundamental features (or whatever) that are really worth the extra $100-200?
@OGFACER The channel strip function is what I dream of in digital recording, and frankly, I'm suprised no one did it sooner. Propellerhead Record did it, but it doesn't have the functionality or sound that most of the major DAWs have. Sonar X1 Producer gives me proper editing, plug-in compatibility, internal and external routing, midi and film scoring functions, along with an easy (and fun) to use mixing board. Not to mention it sounds great.
@OGFACER People say that you can't hear a difference between DAW's but I know I can. I switched from Cubase and for some reason, sonar sounds more open. I don't know how to explain it. Cubase sounded kinda "boxy". The built in plug-ins sound way better too. Although cubase has the best editing in the industry ;)
Great tutorial. I am definitely going to buy sonar x1, after years of using other software's this one looks great...is there a big difference between studio and producer?? it's just producer is a little out of my price range.
@youcompletelyfail I believe you dont have the Pro Channel in the studio version which comes in extremely handy. If you can stretch your budget, I would highly recommend the Producer Edition. Cheers
I downloaded the trial version of this. Now I'm enrolled in Astronaut School, Trigonometry and Quantum Physics to learn how to use this. This is way way above my head. I think maybe Sonar X1 Essentials or Guitar Trax Pro 4 is more my speed. This is a great DAW though. It's just too much for a beginner.
vai pros quintos dos infernossssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssitssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss
@sumvengeance The whole point of starting with tracks was to show people how to delete them if they wished, yes you are right, i could have, but this tutorial is meant for others, not myself. Thank you
@Myuzishin see the point is that if you are going to do a tutorial you should know the software and know what you are talking about. Know the works of it and how to get the most out of your DAW in the most efficient way. This person fails. I don't do tutorials because i rather spend my time learning the teaching. If you are going to teach then you should know what you are doing. not waste peoples time with ignorant ways around a daw. BASICS... um ok.
@sumvengeance Well, see, the point is that if you're gonna call a guy an dumbass for doing something a different way than you do it, that's not helpful. And it makes you sound like an arrogant dickhead. This guy took quite a bit of his own time to do this tutorial, and if you'll read the comments that aren't yours, you'll notice that several people have thanked him for the help. Perhaps you should appreciate the fact that there are people out there willing to do this for others (unlike you).
hi, im new to Sonar x1. I need help with a vary common trick that stumps me everytime. I need to know how to create 2 different tempos in 1 song. Any help??
@antsn101 Hi there, place the cursor where you want to insert your different tempo, go to the 'project' tab and 'insert tempo change'. Put what tempo you wish to have, make sure to check 'insert a new tempo' and click ok. simple as that. hope it helped, cheers
HELP! I have Sonar 3 Producers Edition. How do I listen to my synth? Audio 1 Audio 2 MIDI 1 MIDI 2 I select Track Properties Input is set at NONE I've gone through channels 1 through 5 and I don't hear anything. Bank is set at NONE I've selected insrtuments but still nothing. What am I doing wrong?
@scottrrman hi, thanks for the great comment. im glad you found the tutorial helpful. Once i have finished updating the official site, i will start making more vids
I'm a subscriber here. Thanks for spending time making these very useful videos. I only have the Essential version, and still helps a lot. Because of you, I consider Sonar the best $93.00 I spent on. Thanks!
I dont play and instruments but I am looking for some software with virtual instruments that I can use to create some music.
I want to be able to use Drums, Bass, and Electric/Acoustic guitars and effectively play them virtually to record my own drum beats and guitar riffs etc and arrange them to create my own songs.
Is this possible with this software? If not, can you make any suggestions?
@UrzuS3V3N Hi there, thanks for the question, yes sonar will let you do all this. What you will probably need is a midi keyboard, typically conected to your computer via midi-usb cable. This will allow you to use any VST plugin and instrument emulation within sonar in real time, allowing you to create some pretty cool music. As far as guitar goes, i personally dont think there is any good replacement to audio but midi is a good place to start........cont
@MCIHomeStudio you may also wish to use audio and midi 'samples' a whole load come shiped within sonar and can be easily accessed through the browser window. With these samples you can manipulate the sound through either the Matrix tool or through cut/copy/paste options, especially the audio transients in audio snap 2.0 (and others) to create an entirely different sound from the original and then simply arrange them to form a song, I hope this helps :)
Oh and I also get no output sound... This is all new to me btw so please keep it in plain english for me :)

It's not necessary to select tracks before hitting the F key (fit) in order to automatically size them to fit in the window.

Its good I learned something at least, I work and experiment with different DAWs.
DAWs, are not that difficult cause they have the same principle, but exploring and showing how exactly the thing works is very much appreciated.
