sorry forgive me for asking i havent really had the chance to watch the news much so are we out of iraq or partially just a question if anyone knows thank you
March 19th, 2003 Invasion for years we paid a hell of a price truthfully I'm glad it's ending. I fought those bastards over there because it was my line of work it's what I was and I did. But it has gotten better in the recent years.
The US have achieved the maximum there, Mission accomplished, The result: Infinite hatred of americans, So no one can say the Operation of the US army was on vain,
@KnightCrawler2 I do care. But, most of them are due to IED or suicide bombings by insurgents. Just in case, I do feel bad that some jackass or misguide bombs killed innocent Iraqis.
Complete withdraw won't happen overnight people remember that number 4415 DEAD. Several were my friends those who died it was NOT in vain. It's a process to get the troops outta there so bear with it. Afghan is still goin as well that's gonna be even longer...........
"All warfare is based on deception. Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near." -Sun Tzu-
lol the Weapons of Mass Destruction are nowhere. It was a ruse to go to war and steal Iraq's oil. Now they are doing the same with Iran. They claim that Iran is building Nukes, which is false, Iran is entitled to peaceful Nuclear energy. Even Russia is helping Iran with its nuclear energy. The US government is evil. It is a controlled government where obama and bush are puppets. Watch this: youtube.com/watch?v=eAaQNACwaLw
4415 combat casualties, over 30,000 wounded. nice spin. 4415 FUCKING DEAD AMERICAN TROOPS AND OVER 30,000 MOTHERFUCKING WOUNDED, IN A FUCKING WAR! Fucking prick ass bullshit. FUCK HUMANS! I hate humans.
@grooveclubhouse At least it ended. Obama said he would pull us out and he did. Now our boys can get sum rest and get ready to blast those Taliban pansys back to the stone age! Can I get an Amen?
Millions of Iraqis have voted for a democratic constitution, they have voted in parliamentary and local elections, they have civil rights and freedoms and they have a chance at a future.
Instead of a limited choice between fascist military rule or Islamic theocracy - they have the option of free pluralist democratic society.
We all know the WMD argument was bullshit. We know Saddam had no connection with Al-Qaeda.
@AndWhatRoughBeast I know we have done a lot for a people living under a dictator. But what I'm saying, and you said it as well, we went to war to fight terrorism. Not to liberate an oppressed people.
There are a number of dictators and oppressed nations out there but we stay out of their affairs for the most part. We certainly do not go and overthrow their government because of that.
Yes I'm sure things are better now and god bless the men and women that made it happen.
What would have happened if Saddam was still in power? Iran are close to getting nukes. We know the Saddam regime had been weakened heavily by arms embargoes and sanctons - back in the 1980's Iraq had a massive WMD program with French and American help - the 1991 Gulf and UN sanctions killed that. A weak Saddam regime would have collapsed if Iran backed a renewed Shia insurgency. Without US troops in the country its neighbours would have have eachother for control.
@AndWhatRoughBeast The thing is up to the invasion the US has never really started a war. 9-11 happened we went to Afghanistan to kick some butt. Awesome, but Iraq did nothing warranting an invasion. Yes all that is you say is valid but the key thing is this. The enemy that we were after was not in Iraq. And bottom line is: we were lied to or someone lied to the people on top. I'm no tree huger, I passed out yellow ribbons at school. its good to have a decent argument on here thanks.
After 2003 the Islamic insurgents wanted to force an American withdrawl - only for Bush's stubborn leadership they would have succeeded. The Islamists would have taken over one of the most oil rich nations on earth. Imagine if those bastards had their hands on vast wealth like that? Spreading democracy is the best way to halt terrorism and change things in the long term. Iraq is in the heart of the Mid East. No better place to start.
@AndWhatRoughBeast Right, I get the value of the invasion. But, if Sadam had been overthrown by insurgents or if he had been caught funding them. It would have been THE reason to go in. If that was the case the whole war would have been seen in a much more positive light. International support would have been like the Gulf War back in 91. Well whats done is done. either way we stubborn enough to get our way.
Wars have to be sold on lies. World War 2 was sold on a lie - Britain and France declared war on Germany because they invaded Poland when Britain and France had no means whatsoever of intervening in the country. After the war Poland was sacrificed to appease Soviet Russia - the eastern slice of Poland was never returned to Poland this very day.
George Tenet thought the WMD issue was a slam dunk. The sexed up the threat but they believed they were there. It was sold.
@AndWhatRoughBeast Hell i was surprised when we found absolutely nothing. It sounded so plausible that today I still wonder if Sadam just decided to sell it all a long time ago. I mean he did have them... therefore they should be there. LOL Oh well, thats going to be one for this history books. Either way its time to get back to kicking some Taliban butt in Afghanistan so we can get out of there too.
It's more likely Saddam destroyed them himself in secret.
But he never tried to correct the impression that he did have WMD - he could have allowed in UN inspectors. He refused until he allowed Hans Blix to conducte limited inspections which breached UN resolution 1441 which authorised military force if he failed to comply. The rest of UN Security Powers refused to implement that resolution. America had to go it alone.
@AndWhatRoughBeast actually he was controlling the situation pretty good, people of the north are losers and all this problem is happening because there are sunnies, shia and kurds all fighting for one position
@AndWhatRoughBeast actually if you read the history you would realize why he was doing that, you see how the kurds just go to random turkish weeding and blow themselves up and place bombs in some random market and blow it up, well they used to do that in iraq 30 years ago so he had no option but to send them to hell to save his own people
@AndWhatRoughBeast Well who do you think backed saddam in the first place. The US that's who we gave him the weapons and he used them well against his own people. Also if you hate tyranny how come the US people didn't help the people of Guatemala, Chile, and El Salvador from their right wing brutal tyrants ooh that's right they were backed by the US too. Ironic isn't it.
@AndWhatRoughBeast I guess you can call me a very mild isolationist. I believe we should leave countries and their affairs alone unless they DIRECTLY or SIGNIFICANTLY INDIRECTLY affect us. 9/11 was a perfect example. Again, my opinion.
America cannot intervene in every shit hole but it has a responsibility to take out the worst offenders. Saddam was a dictator was definitely one of the worst. One never needs an excuse to take out a dictator.
Dictatorship in the middle east is the perfect breeding ground for terrorists.
One reason that isaffected Muslims join Al-Qaeda because of the West's cosy relationship with dictators.
@AndWhatRoughBeast Your second point is also true but I believe we must look out for our country's self-interest and security first. After that we can help others. Again, my view.
The major mistake America has made is making foreign policy too short term. During the Cold War they backed a right dictator or thug who would block a communist uprising or supported right wing rebels who would fight an insurgency against Communist government. After the Cold War was over they found they now had to deal with Frankenstein they played a part in creating.
@AndWhatRoughBeast I'm not disagreeing with you but Saddam wasn't our problem. The Taliban/Alkida (forgive spelling) was. We should have been in Afghanistan and Pakistan, never Iraq. My opinion.
When evil dictators are butchering innocent people it is everybody's problem.
Are you saying America should have stayed out of World War 2 if Japan never attacked Pearl Harour? Should the Japs have been left alone to enslave Asia? Germany never attacked America directly. Should Britain been left to face Nazism alone and the Jews not to breath too deep? Isolationism is not an option in a globalised world.
@AndWhatRoughBeast World War II actually would have been another example of mine. The conflict was large enough that it effected our economy and national security. When soldiers enlist they take that oath that they will "protect America from all threats both foriegn and domestic." Protecting America is priority my friend. Our national security is my primary concern. However, do not get me wrong. I have sympathy for these people. I'm not a cold-hearted bastard.
At the moment too many Americans think they can just create a fortress America.
That's just not possible. You go out to meet the enemy rather than wait for him to come to you. Offence is the best form of defence. Or combine a parry with a blow.
America does not go into Zimbabwe to take outRobert Mugabe or North Korea to take out Kim Jong IL because it does not serve their strategic interests and besides other options are available. Mugabe does not sit on massive oil wealth and a US presence would piss off South Africa and Europe. US intervention on North Korea would provoke a war with China - Kim is their client.
Saddam was isolated. Everyone wanted him gone and were secretly happy America did the job.
Islamic terrorists are still bombing and shooting.
The US has withdrawn its combat brigades and Iraqi combat brigades are doing the job of fighting the insurgents. This is going to go on for years and years and the US is going to be giving aid to the Iraqi military. American 'advisors' and special forces are still going be training up the Iraqis and going on clandestine missions there to take out jihadis.
If things fall apart, the troops would go right back in.
@AndWhatRoughBeast You are a moron. The people who did 9/11 werent even FROM Iraq, they were from Lebanon and several other places, but not Iraq, I'm just glad my friends brother will be coming home soon, he's been scared and miserable the whole damn time, waiting to be shot or blown to pieces
After 2003 Al-Qaeda was in Iraq attacking US troops and supporting the Sunni insurgents. Al-Qaeda were waiting to take over the vacuum. If there was a coup d'etat against Saddam by Iraqi generals Iraq might have descended into civil war anyway and there would be no Americans there to stop terrorists taking over the oil rich state. America could not sit back and do nothing.
@AndWhatRoughBeast At least we don't have Bush charging in again claim "THEY HAVE WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION!!!" If we have to go back we are going to be smart about it.
But lots of people died in this Iraq War. Good thing the war ended now! Imagine if the Iraq War went on for a longer time!
