I have never seen theatre quite like when watching an FDNY response! I just LOVE IT. It's 'Look at mee! Get out of my way!' A blitz of flashing colour and gleaming trucks with the American flag flying proudly behind them as they wail and scream their way into the distance in such a noise it even makes me want to salute. It makes me oddly emotional and utterly in awe. They make it an ocassion, a spectacular assault on all the senses. They even wave at you. Brilliant. What an alive city. I miss it

reason why they take multiple routes is because say the truck was behind the engine and cars are on both sides of the roadway (parked) the engine will stop right infront of the building on fire not letting the truck get a good spot to set the ladder up needed to be. its comon to see the truck and engine tack different routes just so both have a good position on location for using there rigs properly.

@sellersvillefd I looked into it FDNY banned them because they were too loud they started using Federal Signal PA300 and when they bought rescue 1 it came with a EQ2B so now all the delivered trucks come with the EQ2B. Before that companies would put a Q an the truck themselves on to have it taken off during maintenance and the were heavily criticized for sounding like a police or EMS unit. Ref. Wikipedia Q2B
