  • I love the animal rescuers,God is blessing your work, bless you all!

Hey, the rescuer girl with blue shirt, she's in the extras of my Marley dvd!

  • My pets are like my kids and I just couldn't leave them. God Bless the people and animals who had to go through that.

  • Wow what heartbreaking nightmare for the dogs and their families!!. And shame on the government for alowing this!! Please tell me they have evacuation plans for pets since the Katrinas Tragedy

  • I still dont understand to this day why they wouldn't allow pets on the evacuation planes/buses....they are family members too...I would rather walk/swim out of a flooded ruined city to safety w/ my Pomeranian than leave her to die in the city that was deemed inhabitable...I GO THEY GO!!!!!

  • I guess my hubby and I would be shot!! I couldnt imagine leaving my five doxies to die! They are family! Bless those that saved what animals they could. God will bless you in return for helping his animals.

  • why were the pets left like that it's disgraceful i would die before leaving my cat

  • @krugerfuchs They were left behind cause our pet laws..no animals were food is served...animals must be on leashes and have identification while in public, no animals on public transportation and so on and so on...They didn't use their brains and realize that these were unusual circumstances..only after Katrina did the government pass a law saying all those laws DO NOT apply to areas facing a disaster & ALL states are required to provided evacuation to all pets and owners or face no FEMA relief.

  • @texasboy5680 thanks for your answer

  • pets are people too .

its like leaving my babysister on the street waving goodbye and goodluck

    ....horriable .

  • If I was driving with my animals in the car and I was stopped at a bridge and told "No pets" I would turn right a round and find cover for me and my animals to hopefully, with God's help, survive the storm.

My animals are all that keep me living. I'd rather die with them than without them.

  • Someone said PETA all the way well FUCK PETA they don't do damn thing they get. Lots of money and for what petitions anyone who really looked Into ways they want to help would donate to a NO KILL animal shelter. Or to an organization like aspca or wspa or if u look at my vids the shelter near me really needs funds and there are about 281 animals there I am a junior volunteer there

  • No one should ever forget such tragedy during Katrina and many other disaster that people and pets have to suffer so much. God Bless all the volunteers, all of you are such wonderful people. I wish I can go out and help those helpless animals but since I can't I do my best to support animals rescue in our area, STRAY RESCUE OF ST.LOUIS did help saved some of Katrina dogs. I'm so glad that the new law will allow people to take their pets during the disaster.

  • animals are just like people..they eat sleep and shit just as humans..how can they leave these loved pets behind??? can u say animal cruelty?

  • @rockstarxxbebe

I am sorry to tell you that the animals were forbidden in shelters.

The troopers and sheriffs took household pets and shot them or turned them loose to die from exposure.

No one willing left a pet behind during evacuation they were forced at gunpoint to get on a bus and leave a family member behind.

I lived there I survived Katrina and I didn't allow anyone to take my service dog from me I would rather have died then leave Rex behind.

    Dogs make life bearable period.

  • @happymike44 thats very sad , it looks like they do it differnt in japan

  • @sohcsarewicked We do it to finally....Only took 600,000 animals to die in New Orleans for us to finally realize that something was wrong... We now have the Pet Evacuation and Transportation Safety Act which requires states seeking FEMA assistance to accommodate pets in their plans for evacuating residents facing disasters, so now shelters, planes, buses and rescue helicopters have to rescue the pet w/ the owner instead of rescuing the owner and telling them no pets allowed..

  • Aww, it made me cry.

    iF ii GO, THEY GO!!

If someone will tell me "leave your pets behind"I wouldn't, I will stay with my pets.

  • we had hurrcaine ike here near kema and league city. i took my dogs with me.

    we stayed with family

  • how many pets die?

  • As your video says if my pets has to stay I stay , I will not leave my animals to fend for themselves not knowing that they survived or not.

  • It is almost a year since Rex and I moved to the mountains.

We go to our park down the street everyday and I have a steel security door and leave the interior door open so he can look outside.

Huskies like seeing the world go by and love to talk to people going by.

My neighbor up the street has a all white husky he never fails to come up to my front door and they woo woo at each other.

To everyone who has left me such great comments Thank You from Rex and Happymike.

    Give love get love

  • my respect to anyone who stays with there pet, i would do the same thing !! good job and God bless

  • It is a matter of love and the loyalty a pet brings to his/her family.

Rex and I have always been there for each other since the day I met him.

No one knows how old he is but the day we met he was like hey don't I know you.

Rex was like family to me from the day we met.

One never knows how quickly your life can change for the better so quickly and one sick dog taught me there is always hope and love in everyday.

Thank you for your gracious comment from Rex and Happymike.

  • Happymike44

good on you, i would have done the same i would have been scared as shit but i would never leave my dog and cat EVER! there a big part of me ! i don't understand when heartless people say that pets aren't apart of your family and that they have no feelings because they do and i would die to let them survive xxx

happymike44 i hope you care for rex and treat him like everyday is his last day x

  • Rex and I met on a summer day and he was in a crate at a adoption day.

He was left alone in the woods and was sick with heartworm.

We met and it was a case of instant like for each other.

We have been through sickness and hurricanes together and believe me we are there for each other everyday and night.

During the hurricane I kept my door locked and both him and my gun close by.

I am truly lucky we weren't discovered and I am thankful for him everyday and god blessing me with him.

  • oh my gosh i feel so bad for those animals who got left behind i would have taken my dog no matter wut ! so heart breaking those poor babies gettin left . makes me sad. and if i was able to i would have been there to help them . :(

  • During Katrina and when the evacuations started.

It was announced animals would not be allowed to take pets with them to shelters.

At evacuation points pets were removed at gun point from their owners by the police and later were shot to death.

The excuse was we killed them they would have died from starvation.

Those officers never faced charges for anything.

Now you know the truth pets were sentenced to die because of the governments refusal to allow pets to be evacuated.

  • FUCK THAT SHIT!!!!!! No one would stop me from getting my damn dog! That is my damn family! They would have to shoot me cause my damn dog would cross or leave with me! Its so nice to see them get saved. Take them! Im getting a shirt! PETA ALL THE WAY!!!

  • No shit. Me, too. They'd have to kill me first!!!!

  • I felt the same. I would rather die then leave my pets.

  • Rex has become the part in my family I needed.

I take him everywhere I can.

I use him as a tool to educate people to the fate of older abandoned unwanted dogs.

Rex is far from unwanted and is loved by everyone who meets him.

When I come home I get the hey it's you and boy did I miss you today treatment.

I am truly lucky to have had a good dog come into my life.

So now you know why no one would ever seperate him from the family that loves him.

  • The state police were arresting and jailing anyone who did not obey their orders.

People don't understand how the police down there operate.

I do understand how it works during every hurricane I locked my doors and windows.

Ignored the police and covered my windows with paper so the police didn't know I was there.

Just to protect my dog Rex and keep our little family together.

The police are never your friend.

They only show up to arrest or pick up a body.

  • Happymike44:

Your story is a sad one - but I am glad you and Rex survived and that you were able to keep your family together. I agree with you: the police/military are NOT your friend, EVER! Look after Rex and stay healthy and happy. I congratulate you Sir!

  • Rex and I met he was sick with heartworm.

His destiny was to be euthanized and forgotten till he met me.

I looked into those big blue eyes and friendly face and knew he needed me more then anyone else in my life.

He came home with me and I sat with him through heartworm treatment.

That was five years ago and now we live where it snows and Rex had snow for the first christmas in my life.

Everyday with him is a day I know without me he would never have had.

Yet I am the lucky one to have him

  • Thank You for your positive comment.

Rex had his first christmas with snow.

We survived so much together and now we live somewhere that has allowed us to heal.

Good neighbors and great people in the mountains who have a wonderful love for every husky they meet.

I never knew how much love a sick dog could have until I met Rex.

I never left him behind and I never will due to his love and loyalty after all we are family.

  • I have seen stories of people being forced at gun point to leave their pets and evacuate. If that happened to me I would say "Go ahead and shoot me!" I couldn't imagine abandoning my family. I know that they would never abandon me! Believe me, it would take something ten times more powerful than Katrina to tear us apart. Bless all those who save the animals - I loved this video.

  • same here, there's no way i'd EVER leave my animals behind, i'd either bring them or stay with them

  • I'd stay and die rather than abandon my kitties.

    Sorry, typo.

  • I'd save and die than abandon my pets! Those heartless government officials won't bully ME around.

  • If you stop here and see this video,,If it doesnt touch your heart, then there is something wrong.

  • I don't have a dog or cat, I can honestly say however, that in an instance where I was told,"You can't take your pet." in a rescue scenario. I could not leave without. I still tear up over a dog I had to give up 12 years ago. I was homeless and she ended up with a loving and wonderful family. It still destroys me that I missed the rest of her life though. No love nor loyalty amongst human have I viewed that came even close to that of a special pet.

  • kindhearted people bless ur heart 4 saving this animals..people who eats, abuse, torture, neglect, starve this innocent creatures,u die!!!

  • Please remember to spay or neuter your pets. ID them too!!! They will thank you //*u*\\

  • omg this is the video that helped me make a book 4 a project @ school thanx 4 posting it!

  • KUDOS to these people that risked their own safety to help these animals///you are good people! This screwy world needs more people like this!!!!!

  • Thank you - I hope you'll know what for.

    :o)
