I had two Akita's in separate times in my life. My parents had an akita before I was born and when I was 5 she was 15. The best dog I have ever had in my life. She disappeared one day and we didn't know where she went. Supposedly, Akita's don't like to see people to see them pass. An Akita is the most loyal dog you will ever have, they treat your kids like their own, they hide their poops, and they are very protective of their owners.

oh my god, is this cute or what! I got my puppy when i was 3 for x-mas, so cute,10 years and 120 pounds later she thinks my dad is a saint and follows him everywhere, and only listens to him....lol oh ya and hates water, but its a breed thing :) i love her though!!!!!!! :)

OMG i have a Akita puppy too(Aspen),but she's already a year and she does the same thing still and has done it since she was a little pup now she only does it when she wants food or is out of water I thing its so funny somtimes i sit back for a minute or two and just watch before i give her what she wants. Its so funny when she hits a bowl with water and gets all wet, but then i have to dry her of only down side. Its amazing of dump a smart dog can be

I have owned Akitas since the 1950s, and it is true that Akitas can be agressive towards other dogs. But if they are socialized as puppys, they make wonderful pets. It has been mentiond that they do not make good sled dogs. Not true. I went back and forth to work with my sled, and Akitas in Yellowknife NWT. They loved to pull and are great in the cold. Akitas need lots of respect.

My Akita looks just like that. She even used to act like that. She is almost 14 now and is starting to have trouble with her hips. Watching yours makes me both happy and sad. Mostly happy though, i think.

Japanese bred them to be used as babysitters while they did their daily work extremely protective against anything that would want to harm the family especially the children. which makes this breed an exeptional family dog. most of their agressiveness has since been reduced with breeding. but still should be socialized and watched carefully when around other dogs. there are ALWAYS exeptions with ANY breed. =] this puppy is sooooo adorable! and only 8 weeks? thats one hefty pup!
