I have to agree with the comments, they are established Illusionists and shouldn't need to prove them in front of these 3 'judges', this Illusion is amazing, but they perform it as they would in their show, but here there's no background, the audience hasn't been warmed up, the whole atmosphere around the illusion is lost, to me it's pulled a little bit out of context, but still, great job Charlotte & Jonathan!
FWIW, the Pendragons were seeking a divorce as of last year and he was forbidden to be in contact with his wife for at least five years after he fired a gun at her during a heated argument. Very, very sad story. I saw them on the original World's Greatest Magic special back in 1994. Don't know why on earth they were on AGT given their reputation, unless they had somehow fallen on harder times and couldn't get a contract.
Having seen Jonathan and Charlotte do their legendary "Metamorphosis" routine in the '80s - and knowing them to be one of the FOREMOST magic acts in the world - I couldn't understand WHY they elected to do AGT.
I was relieved when they gave a PERFECT rendition of Metamorphosis - but what the...?
Turns out that after a brilliant '90s, they have had a rough '00s - a professional injury to Jonathan, then a shooting incident - followed by him doing 8 months in JAIL.
This is ridiculous. What were they thinking about, appearing on this? Are they that strapped for cash? They look old and tired, and if that wasn't enough, they are performing one of their most famous illusions, nowhere near as fast or slick as it once was. It's undignified. As an amateur magician and fan of magic, I am really saddened to see such a great act reduced to this.

What they're doing, there, is hoping for a chance with some instant exposure and the chance for a prize that the vast majority of acts in existence never come close to achieving on their own because, quite simply, there are thousands of people doing what they do, and thousands of other types of equally enthralling acts in existence. AGT may be just another reality show, but it gives people another chance to make it.

The bag is the easiest part. You don't see the bottom of the bag so for all we know its just a sheet. With the clothes she's going a layer down so her outside outfit would be rip-off velcro like strippers have meaning getting back in the bag and changing clothes takes no time at all.
Hardest part is the switch but as others have said it would be a trapdoor on the top since as you can see they both position their feet to the side of the trapdoor (on the black part).
I feel sorry for the other magicians on this contest. Imagine turning up to the auditions and finding the Pendragons are competing. You'd be tempted to pack your bags straight away

noo.. NOO.. NOO!!?! The fact that did they were fast supports how professional they are, but of course the camera angle was never able to show to the back of the box, so it still leaves a mystery on how it was done.
there's a door on the top of the chest and behind it, in the beginning the guy climbs out back, and when she goes on top of it, she falls through the hole on top (which can close ofcourse) in that same second the guy jumps from behind the chest on top of it and grabs hold of those curtan thingies. im not a illusionist, but this is pretty basic stuff to figure out, hehe.
u can clearly see he goes on top while she holds out the curtain a sec, and when he throws it away u can see him standing at the very back of the chest, to avoid standing on the hole :D

A few things first what makes me laugh is that the juges have no idear who they are. Second I love that they still have it. therd it was very funny when piers said we will see you in vagas as if it was a big thing for them. therd i think they will defanatley win comining there talent with the story they have i place my bets. Yes there are alot of walk-on performers, but the show seeks out talented people, that aren't incredably well-known, to assure that the show will in fact be entertaining. obviously she is standing on the edges of the box, the top comes off and there is a hole in the bottom of the bag, she just took off the wrap because the swimsuit was in the back, as he came up, she slid down, put herself in the bag, taking the wrap off, and as he was opening it she got in position to "wow" everyone. Such a very simple trick, not that I would be fast enough to try, but it is so simple to figure out...sheesh!

Wow. This was really sad to see the Pendragons on America's Got Talent, especially because nobody knew who they were. Anyone who knows magic knows the Pendragons. They are incredible illusionists and incredible people (I've met them personally). I think they still hold the guiness world record for doing this illusion faster than anyone else. Good to see them doing what they love again. Hope to see them back in Vegas soon where they belong.

The trick is that the box ( if u notice its surface ) it looks like solid metal but it aint .. The moment she raised the cloth he was standing behind her.. ofc it needs practise in order to make it that fast but easy to figure out.. Now the real trick would be when he opened the box none should be in it
This is a easy trick figure out. Notice the lock of the box. Black. Its black spent speciall rubber with a opening, you can see it at 2:20. The bag in the box is not a bag, just a "tube" shaped blanket.
Gimmick. The box has a door in the back. After the guy was locked in the box, he could get out the box behind just make sure not to be seen. Then he prepare himself. The female did some flourishes around to give him time. Now, the female got to the top of the box and cover the WHOLE scene with the curtain, so the male can stand on it, just make sure not to be seen by the audience(he is now standing right next to the female). Then the rest is just simple process of reversing.

Just like Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal, the way he leaned forward. Simple, by hooks, but the recorders and the backstage workers don't go to the camera and spoil his trick, so they can make money and keep the customers in interest in it so they would watch it over and over.

oh I know how they do it! DISCLAIMER in the bag at the bottom, it has an opening. then, the magician gets out through the opening. then, the assistant was standing on the box with the cloak over it. she first made sure the magician was ready, then, escaped through a trap door and got in the bag through the slit as the magician went up through the trap door and opened up the box. it was on "Magic finally revealed" or something like that.
i'm a magician and i know how this trick is done, and is a very special metod whith no hoeles in the back, in fact in the normal presentation of this trik the magician calls an espectator to chek the box.

We can all sit here and say how its done, but it's still amazing to watch.
There may be a trap door, there may be mirrors, they may even be an elephant for all I care.....but the speed of it all is the most impressive thing.

there's a door on the top of the chest and behind it, in the beginning the guy climbs out back, and when she goes on top of it, she falls through the hole on top (which can close ofcourse) in that same second the guy jumps from behind the chest on top of it and grabs hold of those curtan thingies. im not a illusionist, but this is pretty basic stuff to figure out, hehe.

u can clearly see he goes on top while she holds out the curtain a sec, and when he throws it away u can see him standing at the very back of the chest, to avoid standing on the hole :D

well basicly i get fed up with all these magicians making loads of cash doing a shitty trick ... sawing in half... i could do that blindfolded and deaf. most of all of the illusions are very simple plotted and i personally think theyre just dumb. soz if u dont agree but thats just me. everyone has their own oppinions.

the box has trap door on top and when the chick raises up the curtain, the dude simply just climbs up and the chick jumps down into the box.
they gotta be fast and the timing has to be right. the rope that they to use to tie the bag is fake and the lock and the sword doesnt interfere with the act at all

the trap door is in the back of the box, the giant bag is glued to the back edges so she really walks into the bag.. lol but it looks like the bag has no hole in it, which it does

A few things first what makes me laugh is that the juges have no idear who they are. Second I love that they still have it. therd it was very funny when piers said we will see you in vagas as if it was a big thing for them. therd i think they will defanatley win comining there talent with the story they have i place my bets. Cant wait to see what comes next

the show actually recruits them. I'm a magician and I have a friend that was asked to be on the show. Yes there are alot of walk-on performers, but the show seeks out talented people, that aren't incredably well-known, to assure that the show will in fact be entertaining. When I say "not well-known," I mean to the average american, not magician. Because I can assure you that EVERY magician knows who the pendragons are lol

obviously she is standing on the edges of the box, the top comes off and there is a hole in the bottom of the bag, she just took off the wrap because the swimsuit was in the back, as he came up, she slid down, put herself in the bag, taking the wrap off, and as he was opening it she got in position to "wow" everyone. Such a very simple trick, not that I would be fast enough to try, but it is so simple to figure out...sheesh!

Wow. This was really sad to see the Pendragons on America's Got Talent, especially because nobody knew who they were. Anyone who knows magic knows the Pendragons. They are incredible illusionists and incredible people (I've met them personally). I think they still hold the guiness world record for doing this illusion faster than anyone else. Good to see them doing what they love again. Hope to see them back in Vegas soon where they belong.

The trick is that the box ( if u notice its surface ) it looks like solid metal but it aint .. The moment she raised the cloth he was standing behind her.. ofc it needs practise in order to make it that fast but easy to figure out.. Now the real trick would be when he opened the box none should be in it

This is a easy trick figure out. Notice the lock of the box. Black. Its black spent speciall rubber with a opening, you can see it at 2:20. The bag in the box is not a bag, just a "tube" shaped blanket.

Gimmick. The box has a door in the back. After the guy was locked in the box, he could get out the box behind just make sure not to be seen. Then he prepare himself. The female did some flourishes around to give him time. Now, the female got to the top of the box and cover the WHOLE scene with the curtain, so the male can stand on it, just make sure not to be seen by the audience(he is now standing right next to the female). Then the rest is just simple process of reversing.

Just like Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal, the way he leaned forward. Simple, by hooks, but the recorders and the backstage workers don't go to the camera and spoil his trick, so they can make money and keep the customers in interest in it so they would watch it over and over.

oh I know how they do it! DISCLAIMER in the bag at the bottom, it has an opening. then, the magician gets out through the opening. then, the assistant was standing on the box with the cloak over it. she first made sure the magician was ready, then, escaped through a trap door and got in the bag through the slit as the magician went up through the trap door and opened up the box. it was on "Magic finally revealed" or something like that.

i'm a magician and i know how this trick is done, and is a very special metod whith no hoeles in the back, in fact in the normal presentation of this trik the magician calls an espectator to chek the box.
this trick is a clasic of houdini.
