Study the bible... it has the knowledge and understanding that you seek. Satan only cares for one thing, worship something other than God. Thats the deception. You are too strong and too smart to allow yourself to be deceived. I would look to the 11/11/11 period as a day of judgement of those that truly believe the most ancient and true books of "LOVE" the Bible. Talk to God and get the answers you seek. God Bless.
These songs are a good length, yet they seem to go by so fast because you find yourself so immersed in the atmosphere and they don't conform a basic structure. This is a listening experience absolutely unlike anything.
I've been around a while, and heard them all. Nothing compares to the integrity and belief that this album delivers. It's a big f**k off to mainstream music, this is musicians doing what they love, not for the money, not for the Fame, purely for the MUSIC.
@mally125 I am giving the main stream a big "f**k off" by not even releasing my music. I am doing music for what I love, not for the money, not for the Fame, purely for the MUSIC. I would be your favorite band of all time because I have more integrity than this band, who you love for all the reasons i stated.
This is my favourite Talk Talk album. The record company hated it because there were no "singles" on it. Hahhahahahahhaaha ha. They gave a massive 2 fingers to the label and did what they wanted, i'm very glad they did.
Do you want to learn what enlightenment really is?Not getting any results from techniques that you have found?paranormal powers, psychic readings, it is all possible.Sleep no more, THE-HIDDEN-SPIRITdotCOM
@DoggieBark : Talk Talk was not elusive at all in the 1980's. Personally, it was one of my favorite bands along with Roxy Music, Japan, Psychedelic Furs, Duran Duran, etc. I guess it depends on when you began really taking note to music? If you like Talk Talk you will probably dig the offshoot band: ".O.rang" - much more subdued than most T2 music :)
yes, I agree that it should be but you really have to have patience with this music and know how to relax, it is like listening to nature, calm in a mellow breeze at one point and thunder showers the next. I play this for jazz fans in my family and they are always like...wtf, why have I not heard this?
spirit was the criticsdarling, but they're only interested in sucking cess...this is it...time moves on...tv is so fake...all good people stay away....
What I hear is Mark Hollis/Talk Talk's "Kind of Blue" or better yet, their "Bitches Brew"... This is their way of tying up the sound that is at its deepest core!! It fuzzes all of the great past sounds of Jazz, Chamber, Soul, R&B, and White Pop..... This is not Miles music, but the steps takin' to make IT is extraordinary!!..... Amen
There's a delicate approach to Talk Talk's music that can't be beaten. This opposition to grunge's horrible movement is so tenacious. 1991 is remembered for this album, not mediocre Nevermind by Nirvana.
@Gi1BrO I really wasn't I was just making comparisons of bands during this time period. You have the very elusive, Talk Talk and then the popular Nirvana. Post-rock was kind of a backlash and escaping point from grunge. Talk Talk led that escape.
that's because you grew up in an age where the "concept album" that flows together piece to piece has lost way to the "quick and easy" MP3 download-able generation of 3-minute-pop corporate spew....
Jesus, stop with the 'everything was better when they made REAL music still' pretentiousness already. This numbers still ends very abruptly to 'After the Flood' if I cue them up.
Though you were probably being sarcastic, and I failed to notice. :(
@Maarttttt Slow your roll, buddy....take a deep breath ok? If you "cue up" your youtube videos, you will STILL have no clue what I'm talking about when I refer to the continuity of the album on the original album, be it Cassette, CD or Vinyl. Listen....to...the....album.....(and you won't be lost anymore)
@ComradeCrusty There is no way you could say the songs 'flow together'. You might say it was a deliberate and beautiful choice, given the intro of 'After the Flood' (which was all I was asking, really) but the song still ends with a mid-music cut.
@TheBReTwallace As of yet, I have not been failed by any digital format except for .rm and .ram. They are able to produce beautiful, warm sound provided your sound card and speakers are okay.
music hall of FAME implies some amount of popularity... and if these guys we're ever popular with this music and not their former synth-pop bullshit, then we all missed something.
What a great song and album. What is amazing about Talk Talk is that when they released their first pop singles Talk Talk, It's my life, they were hits, then they totally changed their music and exponentially improved their music. Not many bands can do that. Many of the bloggers lucas0098 probably don't know that. That's the problem with getting bloggers who are only used to the garbage they play on radio today and for the past 10-15 years
They trended more towards post-rock in the later albums, hence the sparse piano, occasional guitar licks, and silence. Check out some Mogwai, or Godspeed You! Black Emperor

Whoah, FINALLY, a song that picks up the pace a bit here, thank you. I was beginning to think that this entire album was composed of sparse piano, occasional guitar licks, and silence.
honest and utterly compelling!!Music is still an art form for me, and it dont get any better than this!! sometimes I wish mark would return, but maybe it was best he went, for him
Couldn't agree more mate... The charts have to be dominated by 'catchy' music, but to me music is more than that !! Still not got this album, but will do one day !! Would love to have known the music that influenced Mark !!
I was responding to WalshNo5's statement and criticized the music that dominates the charts - not Talk Talk (whose music I love). It also does seem to me that some people might like bland commercial pop music because they feel it speaks to them, others (who aren't huge music fans) might just think they like it because it's what's on the radio all the time and they're used to it.
This album predates Radiohead in scope and sophistication by a HUGE margin. Twenty years on and it still sounds relevant. Still has the power to be transformative. It would be wise to point youngsters in Talk Talk's direction; like when I was sixteen and oldsters were telling me to listen to early Pink Floyd and King Crimson.
People into late Talk Talk and Mark Hollis could check Bed (essentially Benoit Burello). His first two albums are amazing, the first one especially is comparable to Mark Hollis'.
This is really disrespectful. This amazing music was made to be listened to properly - not in mono and compressed to fuck!, and n low kbps on YouTube. You are totally missing the point. This subtract from the integrity of this art. Mark Hollis will probably never see this - thankfully!

Archie4 3 years ago 60
That's the question...
nedirnedir 3 years ago
Because most people like their music catchy, conventional, uninteresting and bland.
voidingindigo 2 years ago
Because most people like music that speaks to them. That's a broader concept which can include your's and also explain things in a larger sense.
This is very spiritual; some people come to a phase in their life when they're searching for meaning. That doesn't make them shallow.
And it AIN'T conventional. It violates so many boundaries from the time when it was made that it's shallow to call it conventional.
