  • CAN ANYONE WORK OUT GUITAR TABS FOR THIS?

  • The top comments are ridiculous.

  • Ugh. So fucking original. What the hell.

  • genial

  • Get parted ascension day

Farewell, mother numb to and devout to

Reckon luck sees us the same

Reckon love deals us the same

  • Thanks for the upload man!

  • This is absolutely phenomenal!

  • This could easily be among the best of the late 60s psychdelia records, and would have been were it not recorded in the 90s

  • These songs are a good length, yet they seem to go by so fast because you find yourself so immersed in the atmosphere and they don't conform a basic structure. This is a listening experience absolutely unlike anything.

  • I've been around a while, and heard them all. Nothing compares to the integrity and belief that this album delivers. It's a big f**k off to mainstream music, this is musicians doing what they love, not for the money, not for the Fame, purely for the MUSIC.

  • @mally125 I am giving the main stream a big "f**k off" by not even releasing my music. I am doing music for what I love, not for the money, not for the Fame, purely for the MUSIC. I would be your favorite band of all time because I have more integrity than this band, who you love for all the reasons i stated.

  • love that album but always hate the way this song just stops. I NEED TO HEAR MORE

  • if you like loughing stock, HEX by BARK PSYCHOSIS could be a great album for you ;)

  • @NbaioX Yep. Same with Pygmalion / Slowdive.

  • yep silly me i'[d forgot about this album fack its great

  • This is my favourite Talk Talk album. The record company hated it because there were no "singles" on it. Hahhahahahahhaaha ha. They gave a massive 2 fingers to the label and did what they wanted, i'm very glad they did.

  • one of the best album ever!!! amazing!!!

  • This blows away!

  • this noisy guitar which keeps playing the same chord in syncope changed my life, as well as the drum bass coordination.

  • @imslicc

That's what got me too man

  • i think this is talk talks' best album...the previous 2 are fantastic, but i think this is better....

  • So far ahead of it's time the date has still to be reached

  • Comment removed

  • @DoggieBark : Talk Talk was not elusive at all in the 1980's. Personally, it was one of my favorite bands along with Roxy Music, Japan, Psychedelic Furs, Duran Duran, etc. I guess it depends on when you began really taking note to music? If you like Talk Talk you will probably dig the offshoot band: ".O.rang" - much more subdued than most T2 music :)

  • one of the best album ever!!!!!

  • just gotta love that Jazz-style minimal drum sound

  • yes, I agree that it should be but you really have to have patience with this music and know how to relax, it is like listening to nature, calm in a mellow breeze at one point and thunder showers the next. I play this for jazz fans in my family and they are always like...wtf, why have I not heard this?

  • If i have a soul i want it to go to talk talk heaven

  • spirit was the criticsdarling, but they're only interested in sucking cess...this is it...time moves on...tv is so fake...all good people stay away....

  • What I hear is Mark Hollis/Talk Talk's "Kind of Blue" or better yet, their "Bitches Brew"... This is their way of tying up the sound that is at its deepest core!! It fuzzes all of the great past sounds of Jazz, Chamber, Soul, R&B, and White Pop..... This is not Miles music, but the steps takin' to make IT is extraordinary!!..... Amen

  • There's a delicate approach to Talk Talk's music that can't be beaten. This opposition to grunge's horrible movement is so tenacious. 1991 is remembered for this album, not mediocre Nevermind by Nirvana.

  • @DoggieBark Did you just call Nirvana mediocre?

  • @Gi1BrO Why yes, yes I did. In fact, I think they're horrible.

  • @DoggieBark I think Nirvana is awesome but I wouldn't compare them to Talk Talk. They are totally different.

  • @Gi1BrO I really wasn't I was just making comparisons of bands during this time period. You have the very elusive, Talk Talk and then the popular Nirvana. Post-rock was kind of a backlash and escaping point from grunge. Talk Talk led that escape.

  • Wow - first time hearing this. Hard to believe it was produced in 1991... way ahead of their time. Now I know what inspired Radiohead!

  • Ascension Day - today !

  • + FANTASTIC +

A message to the people at radio stations , play this on the radio more often .

Lets give it a rest with all the Rap and Hip Hop for a while . I suggest this superb track .

    TALK TALK 4EVER!!!!!

  • @ LoneHawk201 ok q asi sea

  • Is it supposed to end that abruptly? My mp3 of the song has the same thing, but it doesn't sound right to me.

  • that's because you grew up in an age where the "concept album" that flows together piece to piece has lost way to the "quick and easy" MP3 download-able generation of 3-minute-pop corporate spew....

  • Jesus, stop with the 'everything was better when they made REAL music still' pretentiousness already. This numbers still ends very abruptly to 'After the Flood' if I cue them up.

Though you were probably being sarcastic, and I failed to notice. :(

  • @Maarttttt Slow your roll, buddy....take a deep breath ok? If you "cue up" your youtube videos, you will STILL have no clue what I'm talking about when I refer to the continuity of the album on the original album, be it Cassette, CD or Vinyl. Listen....to...the....album.....(and you won't be lost anymore)

  • @ComradeCrusty ...The song still ends abruptly -__-

  • @ComradeCrusty There is no way you could say the songs 'flow together'. You might say it was a deliberate and beautiful choice, given the intro of 'After the Flood' (which was all I was asking, really) but the song still ends with a mid-music cut.

  • @Maarttttt go and purchase the full album, digital format will allways let you down.

  • @TheBReTwallace As of yet, I have not been failed by any digital format except for .rm and .ram. They are able to produce beautiful, warm sound provided your sound card and speakers are okay.

  • its about time mark hollis/talk talk were in the music hall of fame.

  • music hall of FAME implies some amount of popularity... and if these guys we're ever popular with this music and not their former synth-pop bullshit, then we all missed something.

  • lol, forgive me, I wrote that comment just as I was getting into the album.

I have realized the error of my ways.

  • There`s a lot of beauty in their music, it`s timeless stuff. I love the last three albums equally, they`re all classics.

  • Put your headsets on listening to this, there is SO much going on in the background.........pure genius!

  • What a great song and album. What is amazing about Talk Talk is that when they released their first pop singles Talk Talk, It's my life, they were hits, then they totally changed their music and exponentially improved their music. Not many bands can do that. Many of the bloggers lucas0098 probably don't know that. That's the problem with getting bloggers who are only used to the garbage they play on radio today and for the past 10-15 years

  • this is amazing music...i only knew them from ' its a shame'.. Never expected this kind of tunes! Love it...for sure im gonna buy this album!

  • They trended more towards post-rock in the later albums, hence the sparse piano, occasional guitar licks, and silence. Check out some Mogwai, or Godspeed You! Black Emperor

  • the original is 6:00

  • playing time 5:59?

there's another video of this song(7:13)

    what is original version?

  • thank you so much for putting this online. one of my favorite albums of all times.

  • Does Anyone know the chords for this song???

  • yes, the gods that sent this down in a beam into the musician's heads........they know......

  • WOW that is just.... Amazing!

really love this record and this song Kick ass!

  • capolavoro.

  • honest and utterly compelling!!Music is still an art form for me, and it dont get any better than this!! sometimes I wish mark would return, but maybe it was best he went, for him

  • Couldn't agree more mate... The charts have to be dominated by 'catchy' music, but to me music is more than that !! Still not got this album, but will do one day !! Would love to have known the music that influenced Mark !!

  • Can

  • Big thanks to ColourOfSpring for doing such an excellent job on gathering everything in one place (with lyrics too).

As for the music of Talk Talk, it's all been said before. They are a gem to discover.

  • After Led Zeppelin, Soft Machine, King Crimson etc. there was ... Laughing Stock. Superb music at last! Simply the best album of the nineties.

  • @ Fredgonn asi es amigo

  • @fredgonn

Yes, yes, yes. But not necessarily Yes.

  • my favorite song on the album

  • why isn't this the best selling album of all time?

  • That's the question...

  • Because most people like their music catchy, conventional, uninteresting and bland.

  • Because most people like music that speaks to them. That's a broader concept which can include your's and also explain things in a larger sense.

This is very spiritual; some people come to a phase in their life when they're searching for meaning. That doesn't make them shallow.

And it AIN'T conventional. It violates so many boundaries from the time when it was made that it's shallow to call it conventional.

  • I was responding to WalshNo5's statement and criticized the music that dominates the charts - not Talk Talk (whose music I love). It also does seem to me that some people might like bland commercial pop music because they feel it speaks to them, others (who aren't huge music fans) might just think they like it because it's what's on the radio all the time and they're used to it.

  • @Archie4

I believe that most living people are not sensually alive. But that's just me...

  • @Archie4 no SHIT

  • @Archie4 because a majority of people suck ass lol..... not that i listened to the song yet..... im just sayin in general

  • Great stuff. Sounds a little like a more modern version of Miles Davis - In A Silent Way. Still fresh, baby!

  • This album predates Radiohead in scope and sophistication by a HUGE margin. Twenty years on and it still sounds relevant. Still has the power to be transformative. It would be wise to point youngsters in Talk Talk's direction; like when I was sixteen and oldsters were telling me to listen to early Pink Floyd and King Crimson.

  • anyone know what guitars they're using for this record? strats, teles, I can't tell...

  • sounds like teles

  • Thanks for all these songs, ColourOfSpring.

People into late Talk Talk and Mark Hollis could check Bed (essentially Benoit Burello). His first two albums are amazing, the first one especially is comparable to Mark Hollis'.

  • I get chills when I listen to this song, this whole album, just perfect.

  • hey it's in 7/8

  • Cette chanson est ma préférée de l'album (qui est magnifique)La voix de Mark est magique!

  • Talk Talk, best band ever indeed... omg and this may be their best song imo.

and to end the song like that...genious.

  • you got love love talk talk

  • if god made music.....

  • Comment removed

  • best song ever, it has the greatest build up and most satisfying crescendos and most beautiful melody ever.

  • another gem from mark hollis and talk talk why they never made the duran league who knows....but they still gave us so much bloody legends!!!!!!

  • i must admit i love all of their stuff im 41 and still listen like its my first time, todays music is throw away stuff,

  • Merry Chistmas. Life here now.

  • Another priceless gem. Someday the world will discover what it has been missing...

  • My favorite song. It's timeless.
