  • No problem - wrap the prussik around both ropes (may need a slightly longer prussik cord). Make sure both ropes are equal diameter and don't forget to tie the ends together with a big knot. Always check the prussik is gripping the ropes before you set off. Remember the prussik is an improvised method of backing up your abseil so abseil slowly and check before you commit your weight to it.

  • I want to climb solo, so I would get the rope around a tree or something and then descend, holding two ropes in my hand (each half of the rope). Is there any way to combine the prusik safety knot with using two ropes with figure 8, so that I can retrive the rope after I descended, but still be safe if I let go of the ropes?
