From the wording quoted above in previous comments the bill that would have required any sex-ed course from kindergarten through 12th grade to emphasize contraception and the prevention of sexually-transmitted diseases.

If I was on that committee I would have insisted on clarity prior to voting to drop the grade level from 6th to K.

I have read the bill and it is very poorly worded and should not have gotten out of committee with wording like:

Agreed on the poorly worded part. It's directly contradictory. (Another part of the bill mandates that anything taught be age appropriate).

However, that being the case, you can't ignore the parts of the bill that mandate age-appropriate in favor of the parts that describe the necessary coursework -- in other words, you can't make an argument on half the bill.

Other states have passed similar bills, both those requiring anti-sexual-predator education for K-6, and those requiring STD info..
