This is the best version I ever heard... Fantastic. The picking is great, but when the sing comes, then that's incredible. All my friends are fans now ! :)
I wish I could hand you my '39 Gibson L4. I'd never need to play it ever again if I heard you play this tune on it. (And btw you have a nice sounding guitar here, but you could play anything and it would sound good).
DuDe 2 YEARS I stumbled on this smooooth silky cover of Leroy Carr and wuz absolutely BLOWN the hellaway; Man, its got SO much soul it makes my heart sing along. You GO man, I'll see ya in that Great By-and-Bye someday with all the wise soul singers, poets and grifters -- whatta Celebration THAT will be! How Long ...

Are you sure Leroy Carr wrote it? I know that's what they usually say but I've heard versions by Papa Charlie Jackson and Blind Lemon Jefferson which seem to predate Leroy Carr's version.
@ZAGGLETON You make good points...but it seems the precise dates are murky...History says that Leroy wrote it in 1928, Blind Lemon recorded it in 1928 as well, one year before his death...but at what exact date that year? not so sure...As for Papa Charlie Jackson, it is indeed said that he recorded it in 1925...three years prior to the date credited to Leroy Carr...but with no definite proof...oh well...the murky legend of the Blues lives on! :-)
This is lovely, does Joules Holland (BBC) know about you? Note you have a few of these on u tube, anyone spotted you yet? Pleasant tones in the voice, you are too good not to be shared, thought about sending these to the BBC? best wishes.
Man you really live and feel the blues while you're playin the guitar ! Would be a pleasure for me to play with you . The great bluesmen would be proud of you mate ; )
Merci pour le compliment...j'aime bien jouer le Blues sur les guitares classiques de temps en temps...une "saveur" differente...mais jouer sur des folks ne me deplait pas non plus. Amities :-)
Do you have an album yet? Where can I get one? I'm SO glad I stumbled onto your youtube videos!! Thank you for taking the time to present these - you're fantastic!

Thanks for the compliment, mate...and by the way, little tip u may already know, with realplayer 11 you can download it and sync it to an mp3 player! :-)
Man, U Smoke. Powerful, gripping and smooth. Very deep, beautiful song you really make memorable. What a treasure to see & hear! Luv that silky tenor thang with those nylon strings.
The world is a richer place for your playing and singing. A gift this poor exploited world sure needs.
Blues on classical guitar!? Unless I am somehow mistaken and those are steel strings not nylon. It is definitely unorthodox, but I like it a lot. Gives it a really mellow feel and slightly modern sounds to it as well it. I am going to have to pull out my classical and play some blues on it now thanks to you! Did you use nylon for Soon One Mornin' as well?
Thanks for your compliments on my playing mate! :-)
Yep, that's something I like to do a lot, playin the Blues on nylon strings...a different sound...a different control of the torsion of the strings...And also, yes, same guitar, same nylon strings on "Soon One Mornin"...:-)
Right on mate!!!!..........Frank Stokes,Johnson,Belly etc etc.........those recordings are some of the finest recordings ever produced even with everything that has followed, it is those recordings from the 20's and 30's that have the most haunting emotional quality that still has not been surpassed.
