Cool vid but what you called a Chinook was a Marine Sea Night (CH-46). They look alike but the ;Hook' had 4 wheels (not 3) and is bigger. They look similar because they were both made by Boeing Vertol.
@maxsmodels Yo Ive been in both and I think the chinook is larger in size than the 46. The chinook defiently has bigger engins, but then again I served during this war and not during the Vietnam one. So im sure they could have been the same in size. I also know the chinook carriers a bigger pay load.

The Vietnam vets were the bravest of the brave and toughest of the tough. While I am fiercely anti-war(unjust wars that is),I still always give support to the brave soldiers who fight. I am especially fond of the Vietnam vets who fought horrific conditions,idiotic rules of engagement and pitiful leaders..yet still performed admirably. Cool vid but what you called a Chinook was a Marine Sea Night (CH-46). They look alike but the ;Hook' had 4 wheels (not 3) and is bigger. They look similar because they were both made by Boeing Vertol.

So im sure they could have been the same in size. I also know the chinook carriers a bigger pay load.

The battle was fought on their land so they had better advantages because the Vietnamese knew where to hide, strike, and set their traps. The U.S.A is still a very strong military but it's sort of unfair if they were to fight in their enemy's territory.

I agree with one point Iraq and Afghanistan are not the same as Vietnam eg Terrain. I still think that you are losing the WOT. Reasons the casualties in the 1st 5 years are higher than in Iraq/Afghan. Alqaeda gave a casualty report check CBS or Wikipedia. They have lost 4000 fighters. This is equivalent to US casualty count. Iraqi militant bodycounts 15-25k. . The Taliban are also stepping up their resistence.Other militias are currently in a ceasefire that may change.The war is far from over.

MILITARILY the united states kicked the shit out of the viet cong and north vietnamese. the viet cong, in fact, was pretty much killed into a non-entity after the tet offensive. american dead around 3,600 (and add ROK, australian and new zealand losses) versus well over 45,000 v.c. killed and at least another 60,000 missing/injured
america won tactically, lost strategically.

This showed they controlled the war and therefore won the war militarily. The high inflated bodycounts failed search and destroy missions. The fall of south vietnam proves it.

The Vietnam vets were the bravest of the brave and toughest of the tough. While I am fiercely anti-war(unjust wars that is),I still always give support to the brave soldiers who fight. I am especially fond of the Vietnam vets who fought horrific conditions,idiotic rules of engagement and pitiful leaders..yet still performed admirably. You can be opposed to war but support the troops. Politicians start wars..but the poor fight them.

The footage around 1.40 kind of sums up the whole thing - killing a couple of pot-bellied pigs, destroying a peasants food jar and setting fire to a grass hut. At least Hughes Corporation made loads of money out of the war. Pity about the poor peasants and soldiers who had to get shot to shit in order to keep the munitions orders rolling in though...
