omfg now thats definitely badass. Be very very careful with MO magnetron, microwaves can easily heat damage eyes. Plus there's this whole berillium thing.
@m3sca1 ahh, with all this talk about magnetron's berillium i thought you were doing microwave heating of flame which would've been even more scary heh.
I kind of wonder, how much useful it is to have HHO in, as opposed to, for example, steam in? How much power do you get from HHO and how much you get from arc? Water does decompose at 2500..3000 celsius, by the way, if i recall correctly (which is the limiting factor for HHO torch temperature).
I'd just like to mention here, it is VERY important for ANYONE experimenting with magnetron's to be VERY CAREFUL of the ceramic looking parts of the centre section. These parts are NOT ceramic, they are in fact made of a material called Beryllium which can cause serious injury to you. If these pieces were crushed to dust and inhaled (even in the smallest of quantities), the result would be instantaneous lung seizure and obviously be FATAL!!!! GREAT CAUTION IS ADVISED!!!
The signs of acute beryllium exposure are, a nonproductive cough, chest pain, cyanosis and a sharp drop in the vital functioning and capacity of the lungs. Also included in with the acute disease, is that there may be some edematous distension and round cell infiltration of the septa, and it is the proteinaceous material, distension and desquamated alveolar cell, monocytes and lymphocytes and plasma cells within the alveoli that characterize the acute diseases process.(5)
do microwaves have stainless steel in them im tryin to think what appliences have stainless steel or eletronices im always finding junked eleronics and stuff
some convection heating ovens do-most have that enamel coat over steel.
i have seen some cheap/interesting bits of stainless in asian grocery shops-but care must be taken,as alot is not marked for what grade of stainless it is made of.
i got some offcut sheets today of 304 grade that has been laser cut to make some bird on a strip thingy, and i got them for a $1 a sheet from a recycling co-op
so hunt around and take a strong magnet with you-if its strongly magnetic is shithouse staino.
ahh i see. lol so would this be a suitable cutter for stainless sheet/ plate? i dont see why not since plasma cutters only use an arc and compressed air. just need to have decent pressure behind the hho. cheers for the info mate.
a really good torch flame and a rugged electrode in front of the flame hole so the tip of the torch doesnt errode, and i reckon you be well on your way to cutting thru some pretty serious chunks of metal.
yeah i am looking at starting to build my own hho cells and other things for various applications. since i am a sheety i have access to a lot of 316 stainless and other things such as plasma cutter electrode tips and generally all the parts i would need to tackle such a project. def need to find a way of compressing the gas without adding anymore air to it. it wont cut stainless to well if there is no blast pressure. the gas pressure is what does the cutting. may i suggest using a sml o2 bottle?
once i get my cell up and running i shall hook it up to a proper oxy torch and 02 bottle, using only the hho and o2 to make the cuts. would save a lot of money in acetelyne or lpg costs if it works.
man that sucks - i just accidentley deleted a comment =[
something about i could have pulled the heat sink off the magnetron to get the bronze screen off the front-which is the best way to do it if you want the brass mesh screen in one piece.
you can see how quick it heats the stainless cable at the end of the vid-im sure if i left it on longer it would have cut/melted thru it.i cant do any more test at the mo cos my cell is leakin like sieve and got a crack in it,so i need a new jug.

@dizekat there is no use of the magnetron in this experiment-only the transformer is used.
thanx for commenting

@dizekat interesting idea-the process demo'd in this vid is showing that the HHO flame is a conductive path for the voltage.
running steam into a spark gap yields a similar result,so perhaps a kick ass welder could be made by pumping steam into a DC arc.....

lol, that is fantastic! You have interesting ideas. Does passing an electrical current, make the plasma hotter?
jupy921 2 years ago
much hotter-this is something that was done by Brown in his "browns gas"machines-sorry i missed this comment when posted...

Berilium is a metal guys. Learn some chem. Berilium oxide is a ceramic. And of all ciramics, why choose a toxic one? Well that's just stupid.

yes thats correct,Beryllium is in the pink colored ceramic that comprises the front end of the vaccuum tube.
m3sca1 3 years ago
after some investigation,im now led to believe that the beryllium is present as an alloy in the copper inside the casing itself.
some said it was the pink ceramic.
either way it will only present a problem when finely divided and inhaled as a dust.

thanks for the info brotha this is very important this is what i like about u tube
we can help each other i will definetly
get that stuff out of my house asap
i held a torch to that stuff like a jackass

handi cap restroom railings work great .
some microwaves have a ss shell the silver one's the ionic breeze has a good set up in it that is easaly converted for hho

how are you gettin the plasma arc?
smackout 3 years ago
from a microwave oven transformer rectified for DC output
