Very fucking possessed music. When you listen to it deeply, it feels as if some evil presence is taking over you. If that isn't art, I don't know what is.
@BoyfromSevilla I like usually like music psychill or dub but if I'm in the mood this would be fine too. Anything you like is fine, not really a set list of artists to listen to while on anything.
Sunn can drone all they want the tone is unreal, but it would be nice if it had drums or something else to add to it. Do they do this on any of their albums?
@joshposse Well, the reason I didn't enjoy it whilst drunk was because I couldn't perceive all the subtle naunces in the sonic textures which make it sound so good, alcohol numbs the senses.
I couldn't comment on listening to it on any other drug. I don't smoke pot anymore but when I did I remember it would enhance my senses and allow me to enjoy sounds much more, so I imagine smoking pot and then listening to this could only be a good thing.
@joshposse I think that's what he's saying yes... But the point I want to make is that being high on weed while listening to SunnO))) is .... yeah, otherworldly!
@spyrofoot Perhaps that is true , but it takes a good auditive memory to preform it live. And being a musician is all about being a performer (Video poster here:P )

@geostigma123 I love drone sometimes ill take my bass and hit the deeptes note and loop it slow it down it no longer is noise its just killing the amps of my car, ill drive listening to tapes of this because i know no artist or band that dose music as slow and dark as i like, tho Sunn come very close. I love this album .
@geostigma123 Here is the explanation of those strange noises in Kiev and all around the world (apparently in Canada there were the same thing in August). Media covers it on intention to give some fog in the eyes of stupid miserable citizens, that obviously feed all that bs from TV. Check this link for answers
@geostigma123 Are you saying that this is a music movement, or just that you dig the noises? I can't tell if they are an internet host or an extreme art project.
@Wyndrax I like this, it IS music (hence the clearly noticeable melody), and I haven't done drugs once in my life. It's ambient music, meant to create a mood, and doesn't have traditional song structure.
Countess Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed (Báthory Erzsébet in Hungarian, Alžbeta Bátoriová in Slovak; 7 August 1560 – 21 August 1614) was a countess from the renowned Báthory family of Hungarian nobility. Although in modern times she has been labelled the most prolific female serial killer in history, her guilt is debated. She is nevertheless remembered as the "Blood Countess" or "Blood Queen."
This isn't music you listen to, so much as it's music you let wash over you while doing or thinking about something else. It's good for writing or reading a book.
Background noise, ambiance, meditation music, metal head, satanist & Trve Cvlt black metaller lullabies... or just something to piss your neighbors off with.
@MetalHead1664 This music style was around before the term hipster existed, has it ever occured to you that some people actually like drone and ambient genres?

@atheistspongebob you are so wrong. You obviously don't understand/appreciate drone metal, which is COMPLETELY OK, but there are tons of people who legitimately like this. Drone metal is not the only type of drone. There is tons of orchestral drone music (look up the beginning of the opera the Ring of the Nibelungen) and honestly this stuff is more listenable than a lot of the ambiant music some people produce. I listen to a huge range of music including drone metal.
it's minimalistic music, like BACKGROUND music. I doubt anyone actually bangs their head to it, it's more like something you listen to while working. For me, it makes for good music to run in the background while writing to set the mood. It isn't all fireworks and big rifts, it's ambiance. Oh, and it does make for good meditation music as well.
@ClayrVoyanT I've heard some truly awful songs that are more mainstream than this. They're horrible, stupid, and you have to be on crack to appreciate them, in my opinion.
But like I said, music is subjective. If you don't like it, do what I do: Just don't listen to it.
@willlayb it's drone metal dummy, what is it you expected to get from this band, if you knew even the slightest information about them beforehand? fucking metallica riffs in the middle somewhere to wake you up? Go back to sleep.
coming from someone who likes very dark eerie music because I know it can create an intense atmosphere, I still stand by my previous comment. It's not being close minded, I've listened to it thoroughly and come to a conclusion.
@bigtoeleet To someone with a closed mind it is. To someone willing to sit here and thoroughly listen to a very dark eerie music it can be one hell of an experience.
@mahamrityumjay Best concert I've ever, ever, ever seen. I've seen just about everyone live, and nothing comes close to Sunn 0))). The albums don't even compare. I'd drive across the country to see them again.
I love every kind of Metal even the most particular but this is SO particular... mmmh, it reminds me things like the grave, the black, the sadness... this is really the darkest music I've ever listen, I don't understand the significate. But mine is not a criticism! Full of feelings, congratulations!
@KiwiLovin7 Me too. I was listening to these guys while I slept, and holy shit. I almost never remember my dreams from the night before, but I do remember waking up feeling very uncomfortable and terrified that night.
Is this the song Malefic recorded inside a wooden coffin, then they placed the coffin in the back of a hearse? I know he does 2 tracks on this album. I think this is the track, sounds like he's in a coffin. And I find that really damn cool... but I'm really damn weird too................
@TheDgdsn I have to say I don't listen to much drone metal (at least I think this is drone metal). I have to say that this kind of music (drone, dark ambient, isolationist, etc.) is actually harder to make than it seems, well it's easy to make but hard to do right.
Also I have to say I'm not a huge fan of drone metal, I prefer the electronic dark ambient/isolationist music. (Check Philip Jeck's "Tilting" if you're interested, it's a lot different than this).
@TheOriginalArchetype You need concentration and a good mind-set to listen to this. If you come here and expect something dumb than this will be dumb. If you come here expecting something dark, you will find the darkest experience that you have ever heard in your life.
If this is made into a PMV, I will bleed rainbows and blood.

Huh, supposedly the band locked the claustrophobic Malefic in a casket to record these vocals. Now that's some fuckin dedication right there\m/

@stewy1897
coming from someone who likes very dark eerie music because I know it can create an intense atmosphere, I still stand by my previous comment. It's not being close minded, I've listened to it thoroughly and come to a conclusion.

It's just noise...
bigtoeleet 7 months ago
@bigtoeleet To someone with a closed mind it is. To someone willing to sit here and thoroughly listen to a very dark eerie music it can be one hell of an experience.

@bigtoeleet
There's a genre for that, it's called Noise Rock. Nice try though.

Siipilintu 8 months ago
yeah the singer is claustrophobic so they locked him in a coffin and had him do the lyrics from the inside
also, nobody is forcing you to like this/listen to this, if you don't like it, don't listen to it

Is this the song Malefic recorded inside a wooden coffin, then they placed the coffin in the back of a hearse? I know he does 2 tracks on this album. I think this is the track, sounds like he's in a coffin. And I find that really damn cool... but I'm really damn weird too................

People find this pleasurable?
Fucking how?!

@TheOriginalArchetype It's Drone, not really sure why people like it. I do, but I'm not really sure why.

@Isosyth
I hear that
TheDgdsn 8 months ago
@TheDgdsn I have to say I don't listen to much drone metal (at least I think this is drone metal). I have to say that this kind of music (drone, dark ambient, isolationist, etc.) is actually harder to make than it seems, well it's easy to make but hard to do right.
Also I have to say I'm not a huge fan of drone metal, I prefer the electronic dark ambient/isolationist music. (Check Philip Jeck's "Tilting" if you're interested, it's a lot different than this).

@TheOriginalArchetype
It's about the interesting textures and soundscapes the band creates.

Hm, if you guys say so. Just sounds like a headache to me.
TheOriginalArchetype 8 months ago
@TheOriginalArchetype You need concentration and a good mind-set to listen to this. If you come here and expect something dumb than this will be dumb. If you come here expecting something dark, you will find the darkest experience that you have ever heard in your life.
stewy1897 8 months ago
@TheOriginalArchetype Just as I find metal good. Goddamnit, it's not hard to understand how can one like something. Basic logic.
MorbidMarauder 8 months ago
@MorbidMarauder
Yes, I know it's not hard to understand. It's just something like this....Static? Random noises?
What's the point?
TheOriginalArchetype 8 months ago
@TheOriginalArchetype What's the point in everything? There is no point. Why does it need a point?
MorbidMarauder 8 months ago
@TheOriginalArchetype great atmosphere of darkness, sadness, hopeless etc
