Holy crap. That's insane. Thank god you grabbed onto something. I likely wouldn't go alone for that reason (and you cover more ground with 2 people). I usually hike with a walking stick that would make for a good ground poker.
I searched for a long time too...didn't know we had them around ...then I got lucky, while looking for pitchers I found round leaf sundews...they are quite small...look for red tinges on shorelines of bogs, or on logs...they sometimes grow in large colonies, out of reach across bog water...be careful around bogs...you do not want to fall in like I did last weekend.
Up to my thighs...I didn't even feel the bottom...just grabbed onto the shrubs around me and pulled myself out...instinct kicked in...it was a pothole and not visible because of the shrubs...I was careless...good lesson though. You got to be super careful, study a cross section of a bog, under the floating mats is alot of water...you just can't tell what's under there. Good luck and be safe.
Sounds like crossing glaciers the way that you have to poke with a stick to make sure their isnt a huge crevice in the ice. Good thing their was somthing to grab!
wonderful!

Lol you have found many of the organisms I've been looking for for a long time. I cannot find Sundews or Pitchers anywhere! Cool vid! :)

I will do that, bogs are very difficult to search through, I thought about taking a canoe through one, but I'd be afraid to get stuck.
How deep did you fall in? That mud sucks you right in and holds on eh? :(
