In a completely different context and meaning different things - bowing can be done by 'equals' (but a subject bows lower) but in this case Obama 'submits',

where people in his position should NOT be doing this.

Every time Dick Cheney opens his yap, he ALSO calls attention to his (and W's) administration... and all the messes they left behind, some of which may be legally actionable. If he were to STFU, and make his daughter do likewise, he can shuffle into a comfortable retirement and historical irrelevance. If not, he ~might~ end his days under a cloud of war crimes investigation, or in jail.

In Dick Cheney and other right winger's world view, they seem to think that a pragmatic president is bad or even a traitor simply because he is willing to listen to what other countries has to say, and cooperate with them instead of bullying them.

But diploacy is not a tug of war where any concession or even a slight mark of respect means a loss. Cheney and the right-wingers are nothing but old-fashioned imperialists and the US is an empire.
