I would like to make a correction: This song was written by Rodney Crowell, who put it on his first album. (Best I can determine, he was never part of Seldom Scene.)

@bulbheadmyass Well, they did write this song, and this is the original version and only studio version that they did , of which I know. I love this recording as well.

One of the best song ever written, and John Starling voice (maybe the best and underrated in "country"). I had the LP, I have the CD, and If I don't get wrong it even contains "Song for Life",skin goose everytime I listen to it. Search for two first John Starling cd, magic. Ciao.
@VNTPLA John Starling has solo CD's? I have a few Seldom Scene CD's, but didn't realize John Starling had other CD's. I never thought to look into it.
I love this song, I found out after I fell in love with this song that the Grateful Dead played this song. They only played it twice and did it two shows in a row right after the last big San Francisco Earthquake back in like 91.
