What would have been their times if they ran on today's hard surfaces and with modern shoes? Abraham's time was 10.6 of course hand held, but if you factor in soft dirt tracks, no blocks, mediocre shoes and without the modern form fitting uniforms now worn by sprinters on could only imagine what they could have achieved....
@ripperduck did you watch when they all were digging starting trenches during the movie, or not. even for back then, the track surface was compressed for better traction. and what about all of the unsung african sprinters from centuries past. i'm guessing they didn't have any uniforms, whatsoever. they probably ran in g-strings, while barefoot. all of this without blood-doping or performance enhancement drugs. we'll never know...so in the final analysis..woulda, coulda, shoulda...wasn't recorded
@ultrakool Listen you incoherent ahole, nothing that you posted even slightly addressed the difference between dirt and synthetic. And we have precedents as to what happens when running on dirt. Bob Hayes had to run in lane one of the 64 OLYs after it had been torn to crap by the 10k meter walk. That was what cost him breakin 10 flat. We know that because a few days later he ran on a more pristine lane and ran one of the fastest 100 splits ever. With synthetic u get a constant firm lane.
what a bunch of fuckin' honkeys, as a white man, I am ashamed...you don't fucking hop up at the end of a race like a girl!

Harold ran on nerves and energy - not to mention determination - and had a coach that could help him to channel that energy.
No form-fitting suites or steroids required.
