This shit sucks. The band tries to sound sophisticated and philosophical, but they just come off as pseudo-intellectual retards who read too much and need to shut the fuck up, like every other emo stoner band.
What's worse is the fans, though. They act like Tool is some fucking mana from the heavens when it's really just a bunch of bullshit. There is no meaning to the lyrics; Maynard is just a baked retard who's usually too high on acid to even know he's singing.
@LeadLead I have read that exact same comment before. I am pretty sure we have bumped a few heads before in the past. But I am going to ask you this; Why are you watching a Tool video if you don't like them? Why do you care so much about what the fans think? You are just a worthless piece of shit that doesn't have anything else to do but pick on Tool fan's. Please go watch something you enjoy so we don't have to read your comments about bagging on our favorite band. Peace.
@Stinkfist43 I often find that opening Tool fans' eyes to the truth is a good way to make them upset, unintentionally or otherwise. If you were in any doubt as to whether what I was saying was true, you would have just ignored it, but because you know it is the truth you feel compelled to defend the music. Just accept it and you will be a lot happier.
Unlike most of you guys I was actually at this show, and I thought it was really boring. My friend liked it, but of course most tool fans have this feeling of "higher being" at Tool concerts, as Maynard is so fucking wasted on acid that he doesn't even realize he's playing a concert and basically just whines random sentences that fans somehow consider deep. Fans like him also like to think that the lyrics have a deep spiritual meaning only they can comprehend, which is hilariously pathetic.
@Sillmech wow some other guy left the EXACT same comment on another video. -_- so to this i give the same response. 1. don't comment if you're not a fan 2. why are even watching this then?
he's just the way it is, PERIOD, If he would be more "healthly" to you, he woudn't be the great composer/singer he is now, suprime your opinions no one cares about what people think of his mental health, not even he (maynad), and just watch recent interviews, he seems a really nice guy
I love Tool....but are you kidding me? Not giving Nirvana respect? Where were you when they came out? It's okay to be a hater, but you must really not know music. Seriously...
I grew up with Nirvana, but also Alice in Chains, Pantera, Tool and Meshuggah could be considered gods 'cause have invented something new and unique, something that characterize the sound of the band.
I love Nirvana, I musically grew up with them, but there are a lot of beautiful band that could be considered GODS, live Alice in Chains, Pantera, Tool and Meshuggah.
dont bite the hand that feeds you son...... if it wasnt for nirvana, you wouldnt be listening to this great music 2day..... so suck a fat penis you hypocrticall motherfucker.
@graz423 what the fuck ever nirvana perfected what the media calls "grunge", tool is to good to have a genre but even if it's over rated by people don't let that undermine the fact that they were awesome.
@graz423 uhh.. dude...Nirvana didn't introduce grunge....they were one of those bands that you're talking about that worked on perfecting it. They came out way after grunge was an established genre.
It has been two years... I think they were about $60 each. Again, I'm just going by memory. Oh. My wife and I stayed on the same floor as Maynard at the Hilton just a couple of block away and saw him in the hall as we were leaving. Pretty cool I suppose.
why are my comments 'pending appoval' Oh dear sounds like censorship to me. Tool don't beleive in censorship. comments should not be filtered and everybody should havs the freedom to say what they like so long it doesn't cause distress to others.
Ummmm if you are a true tool fan, you would know why they only come out with an album every 5 years. Maynard himself even said it sounds like other bands are making covers of their own songs all the time, tool makes the time and puts a lot of effort into making new sounds and songs that really cant compare to their other songs. So as far as you being a true tool fan, YOUR NOT!
I love both bands, and I don't understand why some Tool fans bash Nirvana. Great music is timeless. I saw them 2 days later at Birmingham, and I was a little upset that they played nothing from opiate or undertow. As far as vocals go, Maynard can't really hit those high notes anymore. That's probably why he's doing that Puscifer project. I never understood why they wait 5 years to put out a new album. At least Nirvana didn't do that, and they didn't even last for 7 or 8.
i'm a huge fan of both nirvana and tool (tool is my favourite), and i've never heard of any bashing of nirvana by tool fans. for all that we know, if it wasnt for nirvana, tool might not be as popular as it is now, coz thats what nirvana did to music
are you kidding me? Nirvana wasn't "talented", they were lucky. they got lucky, bottom line. they were one band in a sea of hundreds that just happened to get noticed. ...I'm not gonna finish those thoughts, just listen and watch the video.
don't bash nirvana though, they certainly had talent, maybe not as much as tool, but they were definitely unique and opened the door to grunge. generalizing nirvana like that does the band no justice.
undertow wasnt that great. he's right. tool didnt get better until the almost seemed to try to be mainstream. their underground material is stranger than their newer stuff.
i was there that night and he only said two words the whole night. When he first walked onstage maynard said "holy shit" and that was it for the rest of the show. The only time you heard his voice was when he was singing....this was the best tool show i've been to.

Please don't compare Tool and Nirvana. It's like comparing apples and oranges. I grew up in Seattle and was a teenager when Nirvana was at their height...I wore black the day after Kurt died just like every other Seattle middle schooler did. But I also likes Tool back then, and Nine Inch Nails, and a host of other bands. Nirvana was its own thing--nobody really sounded like them. Then again, Tool is pretty much its own thing-- what Maynard and Kurt share is creative genius and a unique sound.

Uhh dude are you serious? Justin Chancellor is one of the best bassists around nowdays.... definitely more creative than most. Same can be said about Adam Jones... he doesn't play difficult stuff per se but its definitely unique and amazing
dude, like.....how do you put this band into words? please tell me. the live shows are like transcending into a realm of infinite possibilities and thats without drugs or alcohol brother.
The problem with modern art bands (starting with pink floyd, I guess) is that you have to be tripping on mushrooms to really get the experience or else you're missing out. I'll take Jimi Hendrix over these guys any day. At least then I get some real music not just the same music video played behind them on a screen that I already saw five years ago. The problem with obnoxious people like yourself is that you're way too quick to judge music and rarely give anything a chance. And Hendrix? what the hell made you bring him into this. If you think he was the last great musician your not paying attention much. I love Hendix but that shits done and gone, get with the times hippie..

In 30 years will Tool be 'done and gone' and you'll HAVE TO listen to what's new? Saying 'that sh*ts done and gone' is a bit stupid really when the music has had huge impact and influence on other music (especially music you like) The rest of what you said was good though because you're right when you say people are way too quick to judge music and rarely give anything a chance.
dude..i respect any and everyones opinion about music...but not everyone needs drugs to experience a state of complete vulnerability and open mindedness to have an almost transcendent experience when seeing this band live...so, im not going to judge your opinion...just dont post hate on a vid that you dont like.. oh yeah and... have you ever swinged on the spiral of our divinity and still be a human?
I was there in the floor section! Freaking awesome concert. I also went to the recent New Orleans show Nov 19th. It was the same show, but it was worth seeing it again!

What is up with Tools opening acts? When I saw them live that had Melt-Banana open for them... Search for them, w/, w/o the hyphen, if you want your ears to bleed for 2 and a half days.
No shit! They opened up at Atlanta, I was all the way in the back of the arena, and that was the loudest, squealiest crap I've ever heard! Melt-banana sux!
Son of a fucking bitch. I wish they would come back to America. I went to the show in Birmingham two days after this and it was unreal. If they come back, I'm going to follow them to at least two shows in a row.
they just played live here in jersey last week, almost went, but the tickets were like $60, maybe someday they'll have lawn seating or nose bleed seats available
Perhaps the greatest modern day drummer of all time, where he ranks all time I have no clue, but.. if you are unsure how good this dude is just listen and watch live, even if you dont like tool, this dude is amazing.
to anyone there that night, what was the name of the band that opened for them? I was there and thought it was Kingsi, but can't find anything about them online.
Oh and we stayed on the same floor as Maynard at the Hilton and got pics of his bus... but not him. I knew he would be coming out while we're waiting on our car but I just didn't think quick enough. Damn he walked right past us.
Well Lafayette Ticketmaster only had the 330 sections which really pissed me off. Got there an hour early and was 4th person in line. First person got 332 I believe.
jesus christ Adam Jones is such a terrible guitarist. it would be a miracle if Tool replaced him with someone else in their next album.

I was at this show not 15 feet from Justin on the floor..............Greatest show I've been too.... even beats Family Values '98 !!!!!!

I've only seen Tool once, all the way back in 1998.
It was a religious experience. They put on the best show in the Biz. They have a way of moving you emotionally without being "emo".

won't happen ever.
Maynard feels it ruins the overall experience of going to their live shows. That's why they took the salival cd off the market.

What is up with Tools opening acts? When I saw them live that had Melt-Banana open for them... Search for them, w/, w/o the hyphen, if you want your ears to bleed for 2 and a half days.
XeroTrinity 4 years ago

I'm from the BR... wish I coulda been there for this show! Saw 'em in Holmdel, NJ last night, though-- excellent on this tour, as always.
You don't have this whole show recorded do you? Hmm...

I have been lucky enough to see Tool 9 times, but i haven't been able to get to a show in over 8 years. Bummer. Lolla '93 was worth it.

maratt123 4 years ago
Oh and we stayed on the same floor as Maynard at the Hilton and got pics of his bus... but not him. I knew he would be coming out while we're waiting on our car but I just didn't think quick enough. Damn he walked right past us.
