@XinBiDe Interestingly enough, she uses "dubitar non ti vale" in her recording of the aria. I don't know why she would change the lyrics for this performance. Perhaps she is using a different edition of the aria? Beats me!

It speaks of literally carving open one's chest with an arrow to see what is written on their heart. I use both when I perform this, using the "prendi questo" on the repeat. :)

I don't speak Italian, or know any, for that matter. But this piece speaks to me. I can feel every emotion she sings, without having to hear the words in my own language. It takes true talent to sing a song and affect other's emotions. Especially, when you can't understand a word. Expression in vocal performace, truely does make a world of difference.

sorry, i don't like it. sure there is some artistry and sincere emotion in it. but it's totally over the top, has nothing to do woth the composition any more. the trills are wrong from a stylistic point of view: in early baroque a "trill" means fast repetitions of a single note, not going back and forth between two, as e.g. in mozart or rossini. another thing is her mannerism of those breathy pianos that has taken over to an extent that she is not capable of a real piano note with properly

Not all you say is true, a baroque trill can also be back and forth, not only a repetition. e.g.

the Fitzwiliam Virginal Book (comtaining music early as 1570) shows examples of shaken trills written out; Purcell mentions different ways of embelishments; C. Ph. E. Bach also list embelishments in his famous essay.

The "breathy pianos" are more a matter of artistic freedom a performer can choose to do, or not, than a technical "miscapability".
