  • they are a beautiful ray of sun on a gloomy day! (with a rainbow)<3

  • 1:45 shake weight...

  • @toribjork10 yes that is a banjo haha. And yea it's stupid that they made them say "messed it up this time" "fucked it up this time" is true and real. This song is about fucking it up and in this song it's not a mindless curse word thrown in there, it's used to express real, painful, adult emotions!

  • I mean of course they can't say fuck on network tv, but it's like this quantum separate narrative or something, where this English mainstream group plays a mildly poetic song on American TV, as opposed to the other reality: a group of human beings rooted in these music genres that transcend generations, saying something really human. In the official music video, watch the way they actually say "fuck," spitting it regretfully. It's a broken, fallible human admission of imperfection.

  • @sixstring7mtf I think it's supposed to be a dirty, aggressive moment. It's just the sort of thing censorship inevitably deconstructs and waters down. David's hokey "get a drummer" comment reflects the transformation rather appropriately. It's his venue, not theirs.

  • I can appreciate both versions. Though fucked certainly makes it more real for me.

  • Boy they really messed it up this time...

  • Now this is music

  • It would have been funny if they had sang "I really cunted it up this time" just to fuck with the broadcasters.

  • Looks like Winston has been stealing Marcus' clothes.

  • letterman really messed it up this time

  • Showing the Americans how to play the banjo. Priceless.

  • @Scanini lol... that's not a banjo...

  • @Scanini Mumford and sons are my fav band BUT Earl Scruggs, an American, did invent modern banjo playing :D

  • Hey, what's Tom Hardy doing singing lead vocals here!!! Shouldn't he be filming The Dark Knight Rises??

  • haha they changed it to "messed it up" for tv purposes. that was cool of them. Sometimes i say that my self.

And dang, all them fast moving fingers! All of them must have like handcramps after playing that song so fast.

  • they're probably all wearing the same thing here as they were on craig ferguson because they filmed it on the same day..........

  • pardon me, censorship, I believe its "I really fucked it up this time"

  • @AwesomeWithaQ Amen to that! Fuck censorship!

  • look at winston's face after letterman talks to him....so adorable..I live for this band. I love them!

  • letterman ruined the moment with his crappy joke at the end

  • mess it up, say fuckit up who cares.

  • @linakabra Do you really think they chose to say that by themselves ? Fucking censorship. This line gives power to the song !

  • @TheDarkyzz of course i know is censorship or better censorshit =)

  • that was very cool

  • I now have a lot of respect for the banjo. Greatest song.

  • I know Mumoford&Sons would be on a losing side because they wouldn't get the necessary advertise but if the original recording says it "fucked it up", I wouldn't let them change it!

  • "I really fu...messed it up this time"

  • @leumas26 lol, me too

  • No you did not "mess" it up. However, you did FUCK it up.

  • RAPE YOURSELF AND BAKE YOURSELF!

  • MARCUS YOUR WINK IS GLORIOUS.

  • and nine days later Marcus wears the same shirt on Craig Ferguson... hahah

  • Aaaah, the "messed" leaves me feeling so horrifically empy. ;-; But hey, it's public television.

And why the hell are they wearing the same clothes as they were on the Craig Ferguson show, LOL.

  • a shame they said "messed" instead of "fucked". :(

  • hehe..they could have said mucked hahah oh man. gotta love conservative america eh boys? we will never outgrow our own piety i swear..great performance by the way

  • They're wearing the same thingss they wore on craig ferguson...

  • FUCK'D FUCK'D FUCK'D FUCK'D FUCK'D FUCK'D FUCK'D FUCK'D FUCK'D!

  • @mayelmaschal ill settle for frigged, or even giggity giggity goo'd it up this time!

  • Comment removed

  • Dave's hilarious...what's is this exactly...a banjo...oh...they're gonna hire a drummer...lol, Marcus IS the drummer.

  • I love how he fucks that banjo!

  • everybody stop getting a boner they're not gonna say Fucked it up on national television

  • @mike987987987 You're right, they're not, but it's totally ridiculous. I will never understand no matter how long I live why some people get so worked up about words. It's stupid. I think George Carlin summed it up best with this quote.

"There are no bad words, bad thoughts, bad intentions, and words. "

Censorship pisses me off and that's all this is, as usual.

  • Stuffed it up would sound almost as good

  • i literally cringed when they said messed it up.

  • @TheWildSong they should have done the quagmire version "giggity giggity goo'd it up this time"

  • @TheWildSong yeah, we all know the album version. Can't offend anyone in the usa. they might start a war.

  • @JuggaloDebo We literally will.

  • @sasuke1788 who was talking to you? lol stand back little boy, adults are talking.

  • @TheWildSong haha

  • "But it was not your fault but mine, And it was your heart on the line, I really FUCKED it up this time, Didn't I my dear?, Didn't I my dear?"

  • Dear HolyCrapLois91 it's "rate yourself and rake yourself" :)

  • @Juclip oh crap, i been singing this live and saying it wrong

  • @JAKEISONECOOLCAT it happens! lol

  • It is just me or:

    They say Rape, which is unconsensual sexual penetration;

Where as they won't say Fuck, which is the act of .... making love? so... I don't get it, why did they change Fuck to make it more PC? Millions of people have been raped, does that mean its now more socially acceptable to speak of rape rather than having sex...

    That's messed up

  • @HolyCrapLois91 it's rate yourself and RAKE yourself.

  • @HolyCrapLois91 They said, "rate yourself and rake yourself" But they are known to say rape sometimes... But not in the sense of themselves someone unwanted sexual contact. Even I worked that out.

And its isnt messed up, its fucked up sweetie.

  • @HolyCrapLois91 i think you just misunderstood the lyrics :/ they say rake, and the album version is "i really fucked it up this time" but im guessing they changed it for tv?

  • @HolyCrapLois91 Even if he did say "rape" (which you can hear he said rake, the lyric) he would probably have meant it in a metaphorical sense.

    Don't take lyrics too literally.

  • No! "Messed" doesn't work! If you guys must do it clean, please use "mucked"! It keeps the "ucked" sound, so if you don't mind, I find it fits better!

  • They fucked it up that time.

    :p

  • Much better version of the song than the original. The F-bomb just doesn't really have any meaning any more. No oomph...its just overdone.

  • @glougee thats fucking rediculous :P

  • @Dave699 See, told ya.

  • Fuck America

  • @PoofyKittyPants.... Come to America and say that BITCH....

  • @buttmud88 I'm in America BITCH dot dot dot dot

  • Great performance, on the big stage. It's just too bad they had to edit the song for American network television. This is one of those songs that loses its impact when edited.

  • @craigwfulton I couldn't agree with you more. The meaning isn't as strong when they just say "messed."
