On their new documentary, Dave says it was not meant to be about Kurt but when he finished it he realised that it had similarities to Kurt's situation. I believe this song is either about Taylor Hawkins, the drummer, who OD'd in 2002, Kurt stayed by his bedside for two weeks while he was comatose, which, again, similarities to Kurt. The other possibility is that it is about Jimmy Swanson, Dave's childhood friend, who died of an OD in 2008

"I Should Have Known", was about him watching Kurt's life spiraling down before his eyes. He believes he should of known it would of ended the way it did. RIP Kurt Cobain.
