I don't like how they said rock. They sing really bright, and the tenor's are really young and airy sounding. TERRIBLE VOWELS!! They should have trained the sopranos better for the high notes. Good solo though. Overall, thumbs down.
I Believe that they did good. All the other choirs on here are going to slow. They earned their superior. The director had it going on and she was directing. yall haters need to stop hating.
I enjoyed listening to the piece... but im sorry... the conductor taught this piece horribly... the piece is all over the place... as well as her hands! I mean come on... the conductor receives a lot of low points here... but if anything that hurt the worst... was not keeping a slower tempo for those basses on the solo line! Lets savor the moment! and as far as the choir... good job i m sure you just performed as directed. eek :/
...um...the supranoes(including 2nd's) and the altos really need...no...all of you need to learn more control. you are just belting it out. the judges must have been feeling good that day or either crazy cause that doesnt deserve a superiour...srry for the truth..but you guys are horrid especial for your age. needs LOTS of work hun
Pretty good, guys. I did this in High school about ten yrs ago, and I have to say, it's really a feat to even attempt this. We got superiors at our State comp., and I will say, that the only thing I really found was at the "Hallelujah Jesus' " towards then end, it started getting rushed. It's really hard not to get caught up in the excitement of it, though. Good job, Keep singing!
The conducter has to work to hard to get it out of the singers. Plus there was so many people that were sticking out that it was crap. There should have not gave them a superior.
i agree! i think there is too much scooping in the song and it makes it sloopy . and its way flat and they are shaky, i dont know how they got superior! the only thing they did really was attack the song. Thats it!
uhh.... in the beginning it sounded like all your altos had a cold or something. you need some work on tone quality, and i mean the entire choir, not just one section. lots of scooping which makes it sound corny. i could go down the list. you would be the joke of our state competition, (oregon) sorry. this needed so much more work.
eeep! The males definately carried any tune in this poor version of Elijah Rock. (no offence..but...) Oh, well. Sorry the only worthwhile part belonged to the deep voiced males... The rest need much, much work...
I agree the altos really entered the song horribly and dull.
The tenors did the same however.
Then, well, the sopranoes phbtt.
I give up.
Good job boys with deep voices.
Hey! That last Female solo "shout" was decent! That was nice!
i wish that everyone would stop butchering this video, but i have to say that you were the nicest about this video when it came to criticisms lol. I was the girl with the "shout" solo at the end. i'm glad that you thought it was decent b/c i woke up that morning feeling like i couldn't sing soprano lol.
omg!! the altos sound horrible on the come on sister help me to pray part!! its supposed to be sung with soul and meaning they were looking as if they didn't care about the song at all!!
Talk all the crap you want. Concert Choir still got a Superior rating. Just as they've been doing for years and years now. Call me crazy but, we must be doing something right :)
From the perspective of someone in a professional choir and of a professional vocalist it wasn't horrible for a high school choir, but then again it wasn't good. Not much feeling, bad vowels, the notes were badly muscled, and in a one place it went flat. The tenors also got sucked into the soprano part.
I've gotten a superior with a group of 40.. 3 of them being guys... and the only tenor was fairly ill, fever and all... and still got a superior... it's very very easy to get a superior.
pretty good, pretty close to what our choir did.ur high sopranos were shakier.. but good job! dont worry, my school has our fair share of crap talked on us because were a public school and we dont match up to the really good people.. but we did beat agnes dei in new york:)
this choir has a long way to go before becoming a prestigious choir. i recommend intensive vocal training sessions on all basic vocal techniques, with pitching taking precedence over the others.
dude, this is a public high school choir. it's NOT like we're a music based college choir where we study music theory and technique every day. We're not here to be a prestigious choir, and yet we still won SUPERIOR ratings! It wouldn't hurt to consider such things, b4 opening your mouth!
It doesn't matter that you are a high school choir. If you are going to tackle pieces that college choirs do then you need to make sure that you CAN actually do them. My high school choir did college level pieces when I was in school but if we didn't sing them right my director cut them. Which is probably why we worked so hard to get them right
yes we tackled this piece and we SUCCEEDED. we recieved the majority of the awards offered for our school choirs that year. I personally don't care about what your high school did, but OUR high school earned SUPERIOR ratings and that's oviously an acheivement. I'm not here to have a dispute, but let our high school feel somewhat proud about our work! :)
This is one of Moses Hogan's most difficult pieces. The way I see it if your choir can't handle it then they shouldn't try to do the song. No offense meant, I just think that if you are going to do difficult pieces make sure they are done right or don't do them at all.
i hope you meant that as a sarcastic remark as the basses are off-pitch from the beginning and made the choir sang off-key throughout the entire song.
uh dude. Shut up please? If you have nothing nice to say, dont say it. I hate trolls. And this comment was made such a long time ago. Im not a choral major but Im a instrumental major, but seriously, that was a very good rendition. So leave you flippin noob. I doubt you have your choral degree. Nuff Sed.
