wait i thought the only performance they ever did was at the roxy theatre. they did one on tv? and was brandon boyd at the roxy theatre performance to sing this song?
Nice to hear a medley version of this. . .but I love the original too. . .Whenever i feel banging my head, i listen to the original, whenever i wanna relax, i listen to this. . .truly a work of ART. . .
No, the album version is more in the genre of their Funk Metal days. Though if you get the Monuments and Melodies double CD they have an acoustic version of this song and that is pretty good though not quite as good as this if you like this for it's Jazziness.
@Bartholomule01 i meant the time lapse consortium album not the incubus version. & i realised that the album is at the roxy theatre or whatever so no its not :)
the SCIENCE version, this one & the acoustic are all amazing <3
ben is on bass.. brandon on vocals... mike on guitar... jose on drums and kilmore spinning... no matter what they call it or who they add to the band that is and always will be incubus
They are so versatile and have great strength and maturity as a band (even though this isn't Incubus). They're acoustic live version of this is nice as Incubus
Actually, it's Time Lapse Consortium, a band that Mike founded after Incubus took a break from making new music.after Morning View in 2001. Mike's desire to always want to do big band music was his motivtion. Every member but two are in the group except for Brandon and Killmore
I think that's his vintage Jazzmaster, he plays reissues now a days, but I believe this is one is the vintage one, because the headstock is white like the body.
Brandon isnt in the Band, Its mike ben jose and a giant orchestra brandon does not normally play with them, there are normally no words koala toast that
I'm sorry I didn't know that Time-Lapse Consortium, was there band. I just saw Certain Shade of Green which infact is an Incubus song, and Brandon Boyd singing, and obviously thought It was Incubus... I made a mistake.
I love both versions of the song, but I think the original is still better. I wish they would play the slower version at the start, and after the first chorus they would change it to the faster one. That would be awesome!
I started to listen to some live songs from them and from this song in a time lapse c. consert. Hes 1 of the most stable singers ive heard, Brandon is almost flawless live :D excellent singer
Actually, the time-lapse consortium project was only a couple perfomances at the roxy, it was most of it instrumental and jazzy, it was pre-ACLOM but included Ben Kenney at bass guitar when Alex was the official Incubus bass player
Incubus kept it real quiet for awhile but I think the "official" word was that Dirk stopped contributing to the writing process and instead Mike wrote most of the bass lines for "Morning View" before they called it quits, pretty much the same thing that happened with Dj Lyfe too I believe
before crow, this actually occurred on April 3rd of '03 and was the day the band officially released a statement saying dirk would be leaving the band.
so ben kenney's first official performance as incubus' bassist, you could say
damn amazing version of this...incubus did a version like this also...more of a lounge version rather than the regular heavy version...both amazing versions
you know tyson is gonna rape/beat up that girl later.... frown.... true though... sorry, now watch the thumbs down come in even though you know its true...
Holy crap, what a version!!! That was so awesome, my favorite added with a higher vocal, perfect... all it needed was Tyson to step up and get knocked the fuck out from his angelic voice... I cant believe i'm a straigh guy and used the term "angelic" but, thats incubus for ya
holy crap dude, i never even clicked at that vocal line and i've known that song and that fact since the song was born!! Firstly, stupid me, second... stupid me... damn
lildevildawnya: Yeah I actually have done some already. Just reaalized that this song dealt a little with that.. What's your take on it? You believe that something along these lines will occur in 2012?
There is the whole Mayan calendar the depicts the end of the world in 2012.. 20+1+2=23 then there's the whole 23 enigma that plays a big role in that theory. The Mayans believe the world will end December 11th, 2012 --12+11=23 and 20+1+2=23-- look it up its pretty cool
I'm pretty sure it's about procrastination and how you control your life and stuff
There could be many things it's about, a girl, a friend or enemy, or even himself but it's basically about not choosing or being reluctant, ecspecially the line "When you procrastinate you choose last"
Yea, it's about not waiting for things to just happen in your life. "A Certain Shade of Green" is symbolic of a green light, a sign that you can go. "Are your muscles bound by ropes?" (is there stopping you?). After being an Incubus fan for years now I finally see that Brandon is an awesome writer.
This song goes a bit deeper than that. Notice the line, "Are you gonna stand around til 2012 ad". There's a widespread belief that the world will end in 2012. I think it's about peoples' inaction with regards to global warming. People not changing the things they do that could potentially save us UNTIL it's too late.
yea thats true, im sure thats what they meant by that date. But i still think its partly about waiting at a green light. I really hate when people do that
i think it's about procrastination in general. i believe they are basically asking "are you going to stand there and remain inactive and procrastinate until the world ends?" again, just my interpretation of an amazing song.
You know what... Incubus loves when people have their own interpretations of their songs. It's cool that we each have our own idea of what it's about.
