  • The simple truth...........

  • Never heard of this guy. When I was little, you could hear this kind of music in Appalachia, just on our back porches. Seemed like a lot of people played, not like now. There was more of an interest in regionalism. Now everything is so radically "federalized" that there is no real culture left in many places, lol--- a bunch of "consumers" and "box stores," and so on.

  • I could live in this song forever and always, Tim you're incredible, I'll happily sit and listen to you for hours

  • Beautiful, real music, and wonderful singing.

  • incredible

  • Wow, that is amazing music! I've been searching for a long time now after this kind of it! :)

  • very good, VERY good!

  • I love this down home version of this song and it's great to hear both these instruments played in a traditional style.

  • I love this southern accent :)

  • Love this song. I'm gonna learn it on fiddle at some point. I live not far from Riley, maybe twenty miles but I've never met him would like to jam with him some day. My brother has at one of the conventions I think the one in Mt. Airy.

  • Love it! I love this song and you two are great together. Looks like alot of fun jamming on the deck way out in the boonies. Is there any instrument you can't play?? : )

  • Does anyone know the Dulcimer Tabs to this?

  • @dora51300 Did you ever find the tabs? Post them if you've got them please!

  • Got to talk to Riley today at the Montana Folk Festival, cool dude. Really good conversation. Completely gave a new perspective on my life :D

  • Wish I could come sit on the porch with ya'll

  • I had the privilege to talk with Riley Baugus a few years back when he was on tour with Dirk Powell and his cajun band "Balfa Toujours" here in Sweden . I spoke with hin briefly after the concert. Such a nice and warm hearted guy!! He even let me try his banjo!!

  • u kinda look like nicholas cage when u sing

  • I love to hear some beautiful music on some handmade instruments from NC keep the Appalachian spirit alive, your music touches my soul, please don't ever stop.

  • I wish, I wish my baby was born And sitting on its papa's knee And me, poor girl And me, poor girl, were dead and gone And the green grass growing o'er my feet I ain't ahead, nor never will be Till the sweet apple grows On a sour apple tree But still I hope, But still I hope the time will come When you and I shall be as one I wish, I wish my love had died And sent his soul to wander free Then we might meet where ravens fly Let our poor bodies rest in peace
  • Breathtaking....Love this!

  • i'm 16 ... today i met my first love.

  • I just discovered this guy......what a haunting voice!

  • Feel just love ...

  • I watch and listen to this Video every day. I wish I could play my Banjo with such empathy and be gifted with similar vocals. Soulful, haunting and absolutely brilliant. Many thanks. STP

  • Love this sound!

  • damn i want to git me a dulcimer now! you folks are amazing =)

  • Nice. Very nice.

  • Just GREAT!!!

  • Anyone know of a version played in this style with female vocalists? I found "modernized" remakes which i didn't think much of, but nothing like this.

  • @mkmckune I found some lyrics that seemed to have come from a womans perspective and would like to hear it from a female vocalist also. If you find it let me know.

  • @i3oosted 'the butcher boy' is the original and the whole of this song is sung by a suicidal girl, I think it's english originally

  • @mkmckune Yeah I was thinking I'd like to hear a female version of this too. Wish I knew one. For know the only female version I have is myself!

  • @nodollarsign record it and put it on youtube!

  • just beautiful. A real tonic.

  • hey u guys sound great. Thanx for the video. love the sound of the banjo.

  • Right now its 11 degrees, snowin, and the wind is about to blow the shack off the hillside but i pay no mind when i listen to this.

  • wow. beautiful

  • That is a a beautiful song. I'm a big fan of "old timey" mountain music. Part of its beauty is its simplicity - the harmony in this song is its icing. I wish Tim would come play in Knoxville TN some day. We have the Tennessee theater which would be an excellent venue.

  • impressive; that's good music... rare nowadays

  • This is really, really beautiful.....awesome!!

  • Ive never listened to this kind of music but i cant stop listening to your songs. Really good, what type of music is this?
