A hydraulic a-frame on the bottom lifts the machine and has a pivot pad that rotates the vehicle in any direction.

Possibly some shocks or counter weight springs in the right places will help out?

I added leaf springs to the upper arms,they greatly reduce the shock impact of the legs. Now I'm working on improving the crank shafts.

good looking machine but way too slow. It sounded terrible while moving its legs and then the 30 second wait before it moved again made it boring to watch

looks like the shit ( the good kind of shit) but the mondo spider seems to move a lot better.

The mondo spider is 1,200 lbs. The Beast is 12,000 lbs. It runs the same type of linkage but, it's 10 x the mass. It is capable of moving faster but, until I replace the crankshafts with stronger ones I'll keep the speed as slow as possible.

perhaps it would do better with some shock absorbers built into the legs? something to recover the energy lost when it steps?
