  • but doesn't it look weird with all the wires coming from the top ?

  • usually cases are tall and average length, this is short and LOOOOOOOOOONG....looks like a wenner dog D:

  • wow....its looooooooong

  • does this case support hd 5970 cards?

  • Akward but fancy :D

  • Great review. The testing on the case is much appreciated.

  • mind = fucked XD this is like the perfect case for an indie-computer enthusiast hybird

  • This case might be great for cooling but with the power cable from the PSU and all the I/O port slots being filled up etc. this case won't look too cool then.I don't want to see lots of cables popping out the top

  • @mrjacksepticeye Hi. Just to let you know that if you have the top cover on you can't see the cables. They all go to the back and through the handle hole at the top rear of the case. See 6:26. So unless you are looking at the rear of the case, you can't see them. I've had this case for about a year and it's totally quiet and cools beautifully. I came from a Thermaltake Xaser III and this thing is impossible to hear in comparison. It was on my desk but since Japan earthquake it stays on the floor

  • huge case

  • cases are usually rectangular... this guy's on drugs.

  • @marpoq I think he meant cases are normally taller than they are wide. you're right though, cases are usually rectangular. not to mention a square is a rectangle...

  • @marpoq Actually most high-end cases are pretty close to square, some favoring maybe a couple inches vertically. This is one of the few cases I've seen with a distinctly longer length than height.

  • @marpoq I think he means it longer, as oppose to higher. Most have more height, not length.

  • @marpoq hes just a canuck

  • Silverstone Raven cases are different and unique!

  • will this fit a 360mm radiator? please someone

  • @Fatpandas2014 Definitely not, and watercooling in a case like this is kinda missing the point. It's supposed to be for really effective air cooling.

  • @HeretixAevum It does fit a 360 radiator. It even comes with mounts for attaching it to the fans.

  • what skew is this? SILVERSTONE RV02B-W or the EW?

  • @Fatpandas2014 This video shows the RV02B-W

The RV02 E is the updated version that holds 6 HDDS and has upgraded fans. At a cost of no 5.25 retention clips.

  • @aaren117 and only 7 expansion slots ;)

  • 2:47 , doesn't he mean bottom on the left?

  • looks much more sleek then the rv03 but internally it fails buy comparison

  • This and gigabyte p67 ud7, gtx 580, i7 2600k, nh d14, mushkin ram and am set

  • by the way, can this case or SST-RV01B fit XL - ATX form factor mobo? i'm going a new build for an G1. Assassin

  • Whats better for a water cooling build cooling anwhere from 2-3 video cards and cpu. The Raven 01 or 02?

  • @Dantakurasaki you can't watercool in an rv02, its made for air cooling, i don't know about the rv01

  • @acogscopepwn the rv01 can fit a radiator on the back of the case where all you do is remove a plastic pannel and you'l see the wholes that are ussually used to fit the water cooling tubes.

the thing with the rv02 is that its all about those 3 280mm fans at the bottom, my main problem with it is the cable management,

  • 3 intakes and 1 out-take fan? Is that kind of a pressure a good thing?

  • @ruhulaminutube Yes, positive pressure is a good thing.

  • @ruhulaminutube theres the out fan on the top so theres 2

  • @ruhulaminutube also seen at 2:02 the normal solid covers arent solid anymore

  • would this fit E-ATX motherboards

  • @gaming0wiz yes !

  • @gaming0wiz only if the motherboard is 12" x 11" or less

  • @SamDeRe81 yeah but the motherboard io is on the top so it isn't a really big deal

  • will this fit the an 6990?

  • @jesper943 Lol, look at the length... x)

  • There is actually room for 4 HDDs, when you use the 3.5" adapter-panels...

Running this case with 4 HDDs, an SSD and a single DVD drive, and everything fits beautifully :)... Cable management isn't as clean looking as the Corsair 600T for example, but I love the vertical mounting, and the cooling is the best I've tried... True, there were a few frustrations when first building the system, but when everything's in there, it's a wonderful case to look at and use :)

  • Augusut 2009

  • actually I found out that it wont fit in this case due to the way the case is designed, going (and with my cooler, my card is actually around 11.5 inch) I'm going with a Lian li or the antech twelve hundred

  • Will I be able to put a 6950 with a Artic cooling Xtreme Plus vga cooler in this case?

  • @oogibah

    Yeah, this the 6950 isn't a big card it's 10.8 inches not exactly a lady pleaser :P

  • Why were cases just not designed like this in the first place?

  • i love how they set this case up. always wondered why the hottest things layed flat at the bottom of a case.

  • Comment removed

  • Well I am glad someone fixed air flow. I always thought that front to back air flow was retarded. Even with the cons of building. I think I will get this case.

  • Can the power supply be turned 180 degrees, so the cables are on the motherboard plate side and thus drawing air from inside the case, rather than outside ?

  • wtf I typed in rv01 in the fucking search

  • Does the EVGA SR-2 Classified fit in it?

  • @007k5 yes

  • @007k5 Yes man, just remove the case.

  • @007k5 does it say it supports HPTX Form factor????

  • i was gonna get this case but it only took 3 hdd's and i have 5 also too small

  • @crimson177 The rv02 evolution has a redesigned HDD cage.

  • i know whats so bad about it window on wrong side!?

  • This is so a don't buy

  • What mid/full tower to get for 100 euros /120 dollars at max?

  • @dudedude873 thermaltake v9 black edition

  • @dudedude873 some mid cooler-master or some full rosewill or cheaper brand.

  • @dudedude873 Imo? Antec ninehundred. Got one myself, works absolutely wonderful, comes with quite some fans, has good airflow.

  • hey compair it from other case with the same components..

  • yes 3 hard drive bays is actually good for gamers...all the big brands go for 4 or more bays but whats the use when all ya need are 2 ssd's in raid and one storage drive...silverstone is thinking better using the extra space for better use

  • @gameman43 True, 60GB SSD for system, ~150GB+ SSD for programs and games

    3TB of storage.

    Would be enough for me.

  • Bet its a pain in the arse to install a Corsair H50 cooler in there.

Just think, with the gravity change, you're gonna burn out the pump in record time.

  • @DraaelD The Pump is on the part that connects to the CPU (To my understanding), Mount the radiator to the rear exhaust like in a regular case, I don't see how the pump is mounted any different..

  • @TokerMate I know.. What im saying is the pump would have to work extra hard to push the fluid at that angle. Working against gravity to get to the radiator and back. Just my assumption.

  • @DraaelD Fair assumption, but I think you'll find it wouldn't shorten the life span much if any at all.. Most pumps would be made with gravity in mind lol like most thing, for instance my radiator is at the top of my case and pump at the bottom which is the "norm" when it comes to pump/rad locations in cases.. Especially in the Obsidian 800D cases.

  • This looks very similar to the case used in a high end gaming PC I seen reviewed on AOTS. I don't like it. It looks boring and the design is definitely akward. I like my NZXT Hades mid-tower case and the newer "modular" cases that have been unleashed on the market.

  • why are some cases reversed like this? I dont like it

  • @furiousaaron it is a good idea cause it is less wear and tear on your video cards cause gravity wont be going against it. And it is excellent in cooling.

  • It looks like this case is not SLI-friendly? Can you put in 450s in SLI?

  • @diequas

    Wtf? Not SLI Friendly?

it can Fit Quad SLI GTX580!

  • @BKsMassive ... no case with 7slots is really good for 4cards.

  • @utubeb14

    My bad :p

    The RV01 has 8 slots ;)

  • left cases: few and far between.

ingenious way of situating everything. i'm assuming its really quiet since you don't need fans running at full blast to move the air where it's already going

  • only 10% of anyone would actualy need more the 2 Hdd spaces. But if you want a big raid setup your going to need a different case :P. In my case im only going to need 2 hdd spaces at max. Thanks silverstone for making something that actualy makes sense instead of the conventional case layout that never seemed right!

  • RV01 FTW

  • Thanks for review, I'm sold!

  • the cooling on this case is un-matched, my HAF932 couldn't even beat it.

  • anyone know what video card that is? I'm looking to grab a new GTX470 at some point and I want to make sure there is enough room for it within the case

  • @codsta23 Oh and I will be getting 2 x 470 to SLI, it doesn't look like it could fit them very well :/. Bit odd for a full tower case...

  • @codsta23 I have the Silverstone Fortress FT02 which is the same layout for the most part (except the hard drive cages) and it fits just fine.

  • like and ordered

  • i think the rv01 is better

  • They should have removed the drive bay for more HDD space.

  • 4 people are Cooler Master fanboys

  • mmm i like they tried to make a new interieur and stuff.

but to be honest , it failed/

the psu is not ment to mount that way ,with some psu the fan might begin to make loud noise.

    and vibrate like grazy.

so you need a high quality psu ,but still i dont like it.

Also the grafics card space worries me a lot.

And the cable management on top .the i/o shield on top underneath that panel is very annoying to me .and bad for the cables.

i only like the window on the other side .:)

  • @ImmortalUniverse

So it failed because you don't like it?

"so you need a high quality PSU"

Any person building a decent computer, and considering a case that's better than a generic POS will have a decent PSU.

  • @Zanee17

no i think it failed because it has to many downsides.

    and i dont like it.

    but thats my opinion.

    you may disagree.

and like i said ,even if you buy a high quality psu ,it is still not ment to mount that way.

changes of it beginning to make noise later are big.

but you can disagree, its not my problem .

  • nice video, deciding RV02 or FT02

  • I love how this guy throws the good at you, but he doesn't attempt to nerf whats bad about the hdd.

  • @Cheesecake2k

he mentions that it only supports 3 hard drives.. what else is there to mention?

  • @sharki9876 Faill... I'm saying I like how he doesn't try to make the case look better than it is.

  • While I like look, the design doesn't appeal to me, I'll have to go with the best selling Antec 1200..it's a shame no other company can copy the 1200's design. it's far from perfect, but it's the only case that has excellent air cooling. It can't be beat. I do wish they would make it a bit wider (front to back) though.

  • love this case cant see buying a new one untill someone can beat this design!

  • This case is beautiful.

  • What are the measurements for the window please?

  • dam i wanna give this case a shot, im worried about the cooling with sli

  • WoW, 84* on GPU with the Cooling effect it's bad, 3 hard drives is defenetly enought.

  • @Retoon41 thats the video card.... those older Nvidia cards get really hot.

  • @adampope64 so it's may be better to buy a newer vcard and a cheaper case.

  • 4:39 mark.... mmmmmmm

  • i love this case, but how is compared to the HAF932

  • This case is better than Fortress 2 when it comes to estetics

  • I really like your reviewing style. The eyecandy part where you spin the case for a short time is especially awesome.

I was really interested in this case, because I want a case with the motherboard rotated 90 degrees like that, but with only 3 hard drive slots, and the difficulty of installing things, and how a bottom mounted graphics card won't fit with the hard drives...I might have to look elsewhere!

    Thanks!

  • Besides the lack of hard drive space if your going for a larger raid setup this seems to be (and the silverstone fortress 02) the case to get. Feels like some things could be abit better but overall this is in my opinion a step towards the right direction :>

  • Looks great, the design is good except the fact that it's so big, far too long to fit on the bottom part of my desk and i refuse to put it on the floor. And this isn't really a small desk, either.

  • Why would you put this case on the CARPET? get a desk that lifts it off the floor, I would NEVER put my tower on a carpet ever. static kills, crack kills too, but im a bit more concerned about my computer getting into static rather than crack.

  • @epoxeclipse Easy to say , but hard in practical use...

Lets say a Full tower case and all the latest hardware , which weights more like 15kg

do you want it on your Desk...?

    NO!

it will damage the table , besides , only small case can be put on desk , otherwise it looks like a block..

  • I once considered putting fans on the bottom of a case, but then I realized they'd suck dust and dirt right off the floor and into the case and I'd cleaning those dust covers every other day. This case is even worse because you have to take off the side to get to the dust covers!

    Very poor design

  • @overclockjames

if you would have to clean the dust filters every other day your room must be really dirty, you should consider cleaning that like one's a week.

honestly, i use this case for around 6 months and its great, i cleaned the filters once and it took under 5 minutes to take them out, wash them and put them back in and close the case back up,

  • @overclockjames clean your floor more often?

  • 3 hard drives? :/

  • @owendyhouse apparently you can fit another ssd using a bracket that comes with the case on the left side of the case, so in total you get 4 drives.

  • Hell you don't really need more than one hard drive unless your going to have an SSD with your OS on it and a regular HDD.

  • I've had a 300GB hard drive for nearly 3 years and I still have180GB left... I don't see why people need like 6TB of space.

  • I filled 3/4 of my 2tb drive in less than 2 months heh. Not everyone's surfing/downloading habits are the same.

  • @AkubaneIcecold PORN much?

  • the limitation of 3 internal hard drives i dont really see as a bad thing...i mean, how many hard drives are you really gonna have?

  • What's the music in the beginning?

  • the design is really great, wish more case companies would take in use this layout for the motherboard, at least it goes hand in hand with the air physics of this world.

  • 27 KGS? fuck it

  • @zanastux lol, this case gives just about any skinny motherfucker a good workout XD

  • can i use this case to run a setup with 4 5850s?

  • I would still like the cool door that the RV01 had.

  • @Flamesync Yeah but time could damage it and now you have a door without anyway to move.

  • pointless, normal alignment works perfectly well

  • the raven 1 is alot better

  • Meh i bought the Corsair 800d XD

  • @olmatenightfox Its the best (Y)

  • lets be honest people, I have 2x1tb hard drives for movies, tv and music alone. Sure not all of us have a ssd now but eventually yes we will. That leaves an extra hdd bay free and if you REALLY need another use a NAS storage unit or buy hdd adapters for the 5,25 slots...this case is more than adequate

  • wtf? to the right side? thaqt doesn't make sense =.=!

  • rv01 ftw!

  • only reason im not sure buying this one for my next fermi pc is that the window is on the wrong side if i bought it the window would face a wall which is a huge down point

  • LOL AT FERMI FAIL= woodscrews

  • upside down and back to front! D:

  • What the fuck? Who needs more than 3 hard drives? Seriously?

  • It's Called RAID 0/1/5

  • Yeah :D I really dont see how anyone would like having more than 3 HD's, it's fucking stupid.

    Good HD's = 2 SSD's for OS and one 1/1.5TB hard drive.

    ffs

  • @magichristo you need more than 3 hard drives for downloading mate

  • 3 HDs is the most I'd ever have, any more than that and, well, there's really no need for more than 3.

I mean I only have two 500GB HDs on my main build, I could probably do fine with just one 1TB 10k RPM HD. I don't see why I'd need a third one, definitely not a fourth or fifth.

  • For downloading what? What are you talking about?

  • need more than 3 hard drives for downloading movies music tv shows and blu ray rips

and lots of pc games + a little porno on the side

  • Lol are you kidding me? I've got a single 320GB Hard drive and I download whatever I want, and I have to say I download a whole lot of stuff.

  • LOl is that all??

    I download around 200gb a month

Might need to buy another 1 tb hard drive soon

  • @olmatenightfox Oh, and I am assuming you want to keep every movie in your computer, even if you've seen it? Every game if you're sick of it?

  • If you seriously use that much space, consider a Lian Li V2100B. I've got it, and it can easily hold over 12 hard drives.

  • @olmatenightfox get a fractal design if you need sooooooooooo many hard drives

  • case=fail

  • any proof?

  • Hey can anyone tell me if this case will be good enough to keep two gts 250's cool. I also am going to put an intel core i5 in.

  • Great review! I'm definitely gonna get one of these :)

  • my gpu...

    the classic monster...

  • any idea if this case comes with a way to mount a 3.5" drive in the 5.25" bays? or can you use generic aluminum extenders to increase your 3.5" drive size?

  • i wish the corsair h50 could work in this without a hassle

  • a case like this would be perfect for me for i have to put my case on the left side, with my current case with the window on the left, i can't see it

  • IM BUYING THIS CASE NEXT WEEK

  • I have this Case and it's the best case ever. There is nothing better for air cooled systems. The instalation is very easy and there is plenty space for cabels. It is the best looking case for me. Thalks for this review, it helped me a lot.

  • i'm using this case for my next build coming 2010

  • Could you explain what you mean about the bottom PCI E slot not fitting? Is that the main slot for the video card, or is it the second slot for crossfire, or is it some obscure spot that doesn't matter?

  • its not the main slot. it would be the slot if your were gonna put a third video card in

  • Do the Radeon HD 5970 fit that case?

  • only if u remove the bottom fan

  • Do you have the case? I mean it looks awesome to have the motherboard upsidedown.

  • I need an expert advise, so i come to you folks, in hope you can help me.

I am planning to build a WORKSTATION rig, and i am gonna buy an Intel S5520SC motherboard a SSI EEB form factor (12"x13") my first choice for a computer case was a COOLMASTER HAF 932, but it only accepts eATX max, my other choice was SILVERSTONE RAVEN RV01, but it´s cooling system is just not that good -comparing to the HAF 932-.. Is therea nice computer case you recommend me?

I need lots of vent fans!!

  • This case needs one thing

increase the hight by 4 inches

    then 5/5

  • I don't understand. Why do cases always have like 4 5.25 inch bays? What other things do you put in 5.25 inch bays? Other than optical drives of coarse.

  • led fan controller

  • Is that it?

  • hot swap trays thats what im doing with mine

  • Sorry could you explain that a bit :P I don't know what that is sadly.

  • hot swap is when you can switch hard drives when you pc is still on.. look up kingwin im going to buy their hot swap trays this weekend

  • lol I don't exactly see the big deal about that. Takes like a minute to shutdown and another minute to boot it up. $80 to save 2 minutes? If that all its good for than I really don't see the point of it :P.

  • unless you keep you're pc case open all the it's really a bitch $69 is nothing for convenience and style i swap hard drives alot so for me it's worth it but there are other thing you could use those bay slots for like a drive bay storage box/Multimedia Station controller/card reader or 8 dvd burners to bootleg lol j/k

  • Yeah I guess. I don't really use a lot of slots so I can't really see me using it. But if you switch your hard drives a lot, which I still don't see why you would need too, I can see the point of it.

  • @pinkistoughjj you can add another fan in place of 2 slots, and there are also adapters to add more drives. its better to keep it as big as possible, because its always easier to go smaller.OH! and also FAN controllers, some of which take up 2 slots. but ultimately, 1 optic drive is all you need

  • @thepineapple1 Exactly so 3 is good you would think...

  • how in the hell would a person install a corsairh50 in this thing
