@indiglo1971 I just browsed his record and he's beaten only like 2 fighters that were batting for more than ,500. So his wining efforts against punching bags were probably not even filmed. He's terrible.
@mattsnow81 Actually, I remember seeing his fight against Larry Menefee on Friday Night Fights. McNeeley won by disqualification after Menefee tackled McNeeley and did some other strange things.
@theredjackal Don King knew that thats why he picked him. The more people that watched the fight the more money "they made." Since it was Tyson's first fight since being out of prison, King knew so many people would watch the fight no matter how sucky his oppnent was. And of course King wanted a very easy win.
Oh McNeeley... Showing up with a beer guy against a 6' 7" and 87 inch reach Akiwande? For a second I thought you were exemplifying Peter Buckley or Reggie Strickland...
@MarleyMan06 Actually, McNeely had a fairly winning record in boxing. 47 wins, 36 by KO, lost 7. And apparently he's a good guy in real life. Retired from boxing and now spends his time teaches the youngins how to box.
You want the biggest loser in boxing history check out a guy named Brian Coleman. Had like 140 losses and 30 wins.
@afterapplepicking He retired from boxing and abused crack and alcohol for years- he is a good guy but hes been arrested for assault at bars and did a disgusting amount of drugs and booze....its apparent here. still good guy with issues-hope he is well today
how sad, a tomato can after a great start, and these assholes adding their racist baggage to it. Many a fighter of the negro persuasion can be seen hitting the canvas, what proof is thhat?
I've met Peter several times boxing was his life no way in hell would he ever throw. a fight he always gives his best. the reason he was never great was he was a smoker, a drunk and a crackhead. but he is also a very nice guy. the 500,000 he made against Tyson most of it went toward rehab
mcnelly an ok fighter but very lilmited skill wise, but he always came to fight.back in the early 90's he was given a top 10 placing by the wba.his record was something like 36 win 32 win by ko 1 loss.he fought mostly no bodies, and ex fringe contenders.but compiled an inpressive record so the wba ranked him.he had heart, always came forward.good pwer good speed.but didnt have the chin or skill to contend.tyson destroyed him 1 after 4 years out of the ring and took his world ranking at that downhil
@redmeth07 It looks as if McNeeley was intentionally holding back during this fight. I wouldn't be surprised if he had been paid off. I've seen a few McNeeley fights and even though he has lost a few times he is always throwing many more punches mostly haymakers.
i bet that doesn't improve his lisp??MEDFIEEEEELD!!!lol

OK, OK, there are three important factors about McNeeley in this fight:
1, he was a spent fighter, as in over 50 professional fights
2, this was six years after he faced Tyson, meaning he was over 30 years old
3, he was way out of shape against a much better conditioned guy.
smoothALOE 7 months ago
@smoothALOE Akinwande was a spent fighter and is 3 years older than McNeeley, being out of shape is his own fault

@Ninety2q That might be true, but he didnt fight a guy with a winning record before Tyson, at least against Akinwande he had better experience.
