@ediblemoments Its not, as are a good portion of pre-crash scenes. the flashbacks are there so you know the characters history and why they do what they do. on the island, there are alot of references to the characters pre-crash lives, and it is vital that we catch them because they are somewhat important to the storyline. For example, jack and desmpond met in a stadium, pre-crash. while no one gives a damn, it's still important so weknow why jack flips out when he sees desmond again post-crash.

The Jack character is very well observed, he has all the arrogance and sense of entitlement of a real medic.

It's a great piece of scripting and acting, at times I feel genuine hatred for the character, he's such an enormous wanker.

Actually, some of them are really worth watching, namely the ones surrounding Michael and Walt. I don't like Michael, but it was neat to find out how he and other cast members interacted.

Not to mention Episode 13 put a new sort of spin on everything you thought you knew, even if you've seen to the end of Season 5.

I think it has something to do with Aaron. I think that Aaron is a much more important character than we realize. After all, Aaron is the only person we know that was actually born on the island and that makes him very special. And Christian is Aaron's grandfather and Jack is Aaron's Uncle.

I agree that aaron's important but mostly because the fortune teller told claire that it was essential for no one else to raise him and that evil will surround him or something like that. If a whole prophesy is made about him I'd say he's pretty important to the story. I also agree with you that this missing piece is about how Jack will treat/care for Aaron.
