the northern lights do happen almost every night in the winter,you just cant see them in the city go out of the city everywhere!!!I have also seen the best northens in august red,purple,green and orange....always amazing and yellowknife is one of the nicest places to live in canada by far!
Yellowknife, small city with 2 Macdonalds, Staples, Canadian Tire, Walmart, Pizza Hut, Dominos, Quiznos, 2 Subways, KFC, 3 supermarkets, it's own transit system, 18 sets of traffic lights, 2 arenas, about 40 lakes in it's municipal boundries, tallest building is 18 floors (not including Robertson Shaft), excellent recreation facilities, organizations and plenty of bars. GDP per capita is about $97,000CDN/Annum.
There are better places, and there are much worse places.
I wouldn't like to have to rely on that transit system!!! But the lights and the lit up teepees seem REALLY cool! I would totally visit Yellowknife to see that!
this place is in Yellowknife Canada,I believe that it it called Aurora Village.Aurora tours take bookings,It's mainly japanese customers that go there on group tours.feb-march is the best time to see the lights.
Just to tell you before you might get disappointed, Yellowknife isn't like an uncivilized place where there are only teepees and cabins for housing. This is probably just one place and the teepees are most likely not real ones.
And Yellowknife is in NWT Canada, near the top of a globe/map.

They are not authentic. Teepees do not have lighting nor heat, stupid. I've been in a real teepee, I'm native. Floor laced with pine needles, the whole deal. These are just tourist attractions.
