I really need to have a go at tuning my 1.6TD. I have one in a 72 baywindow campervan (engine conversion) and having seen a 1.6TD golf eat a honda integra with about 3 times as much bhp I think tuning could be fun. With the extra turbo pressure did you adjust the waste gate or replace the turbo?
The car is long gone, on this particular one I deactivated the wastegate so the turbo was just running wild - intersted to see where it would all end. The engine lasted about 6 months untill it had a meltdown, the turbo (Garrett T3) still lives.
u serious?? dude diesel sure doesn't get a lot of hp, but torque is out of scale, and torque is the force that puts u in seat. And i am sure if u take 1.6 turbo gas car this thing will eat it a live.
yes i am. it is not just the torque that made a car fast. you have to have hp torque low weight and you have to have a large area in wich you can use youre power. not like a turbo-diesel this thing has power from like 1500rpm till 3000rpm and before is nothing and after is nothing too. for example: take a ugly golf gti with 200hp 2.0 turbo and 280nm torque against a golf gtd 170 hp about 400nm torque and lets race....the gtd looses on 1/4 mile ,on track and everywhere. but it has 400nm
i have to disagree with that, as long tdi get traction it should run faster.(Altho idk how u can even make 170hp with 400 tq td motor, usually tq is around 170% of hp, so should be 170/290)
and btw stats for 2.0t are 197/207 and 2.0tdi 138/236(stock)
i posted specs for current models, if u talking about gtd then it is not in stored yet, so u talking about future car. They say it will be 2.0tdi with 170 horsepower and 258 b-ft of torque. And it will lose against 197/207 gti. But if you think gti will win every race against all tdi out there, you are so wrong.

wow... some one have weak nerves, well id like to inform you that Porsche does have diesel Cayenne, which is right now only in Europe, but they thinking to bring it over in US in 2010, Lamborghini (Volkswagen Auto Group) also thinking to launch v10 tdi model with 305 HP and 533 torque, Audi from same group already launched v12 tdi with 500 HP and 738 torque.
I have 1.6 NA diesel rabbit and its faster then my friends 1.8 corolla gas. Rabbit also get about 12mpg more then corolla. Yes there are fast n.a. cars out there, you a right, but u are underestimate diesel power. And there is no point to use vulgar language, it just shows that you not only dont know diesel, but u are also rude.
@dogodud I am sorry i own 3 diesels and one tdi and a twin cam 1.8 corolla, and having driven one of the na diesels i decided it was an unsafe car way too slow, had to upgrade to a turbo head and put in the oil nozzels that shoot oil into the combustion chamber. . A diesel without a turbo needs to be huge to pull hard.

You dont need bigger injectors.
In Poland we have a Golf 1.6 TD with stock injectors and 2 bar turbo pressure.
And It have 172 bhp !! :)

Engine has lower compression, Sprinter intercooler, 9mm pump, extreme pin, Unimog injectors, 63mm downpipe and exhaust.
It runs very fast at 2.2 bar, but can only do it for a few seconds, temperatures become too high very quickly.

That has only 1 piston, the rotor inside distributes to the different injector pipes.
What is normal size piston?
At certain pressure turbos can over rev and then deliver less air! this can also happen if air gets to hot, the temp negates extra density.
but 2.2 bar!!!!!!!
