  • 240p we meet again

  • @sentientist haha, I know, it's fucking annoying! It's more that the audio is crap rather than that the video is crap.

  • He is everything a great bass player must be.

  • @ texwales, yes mate, in the cross keys, great times many yrs ago, also seen him down the butetown carnival having a wander with family back in the day

  • one of the best plank spankers in the bussiness .

  • he makes it look so easy that a 4 year old could do it. victor wooten might be the only i would consider better

  • @BYOBKproductions Check out Anthony Wellington, Marcus Miller and Stanley Clarke then. I think Pino is the best at what he does but all those cats are equally as talented in what they

  • Man, that Precision looks like a toy on his hands... Hahahaha, Pino rules!

  • is it me, or are his hands just huge?:P

  • Pino's the fucking man

  • Can someone turn down John's amp?....he is drown out Pino.

  • MY gosh.

  • hey, seen pino in my local many years ago in llantrisant, south wales, uk, he,s from cardiff

  • @carltaff1 Was it in the Cross Keys? I lived in Llantrisant for 10 years. I fronted Sting Like A Bee.

  • Where's the LOVE button? Wow, what a consummate pro!

  • I can pick out his sound from hearing this guy for years, this is the first time I have actually seen him play!

  • Sprintbass - I agree. He does some f-less with PSP .. not nearly enough. "every time you go away" is one of his best i.m.o. ..

  • guy is whiter than my uncle

  • awesome!!

  • Fender's Precision Bass has been immortalized 1000x over

  • Incredible basswork !!! Pino for President !!!

  • its a shame he doesnt do fretless anymore..i guess for most people fretless is jaco...for me its pino palladino and Mick karn, thats my school of playing.

  • @sprintbass I guess he was trapped in his own created trademark style of playing like Jaco was for sure i.m.o. Now he's free again! He can just play and groove more or less out of the spotlights. That's what we bassplayers like don't we??

  • @sprintbass He does... Search for "one shot not palladino".

  • John Mayer?

  • @curtis3322 Si, es John Mayer

  • that's cool

  • I wish i had long fingers like he has.

  • Pino and Precision is one and the same thinggg

  • Great playing by the entrie band...and Pino, nothing needs to be said!

It's nice to see John learning from all the great players and being accepted into the club.......I could not fully grasp John until I saw Buddy Guy give John props! Good job John!

  • Palladino es un maestro!!

  • Master

  • how can you guys hear the bass w/shitty video quality'?

i mean.. i can hear it.. just not as cleanly and nice as I would like :P

  • @maniacguitar I'm listening with headphones, cheers

  • @LevinSoul cheers'!

    am too!

  • damn look at the harmonics he does..shit so clean..

  • Pino Palladino doesn't just play P Bass guitars.

    He is The P Boss.

  • Damn you Pino you make it looks so bloody easy

  • love Pino, but listening to John Mayer is like listening to the smell of socks.

  • I'm a guitar player and not a bass player, but even guitar players know Mr. Paladino. His credentials are beyond reproach - simply check out his resume. As bass players go, he is definitely the sh*t.

  • as i said B4 the new Band of DOOM! >x0]

  • What song is this and is it the John Mayer trio?

  • @ONdorch Yes, Who Do You Think I Was.

  • you know you're an awesome bassist when you play that then casually look at the floor at the end of the song...legend

  • huge fingers

  • In my eyes P-bass doesn't stand for Precision Bass, it stands for Pino's Bass.

  • @SuperWillBass As J-bass for Jaco's bass?

  • @SuperWillBass amen to that

  • @SuperWillBass bahaha!! priceless!

  • My inspiration for not just playing bass, but specifically a P bass. :)

  • THIS is what bass players are missing out on nowadays. Nail down the groove, nothing else! A lot of modern bass players don't have a clue.

  • Rock solid groove. I just cannot imagine any other bass player alive that can do this in such a way. He's a bass machine !

  • Yes!! Groovy base!

  • It's sad that he plays with a guy that's sooooo freakin been done. Really Stevie Ray.... Kid, you started playing crappy pop music and discovered blues... Damn, unchain that bass player

  • @markeydusod mayer always played blues since he started. and pino plays with him for good reason (hint: not money).

  • Which band is this?

  • @Mrboffy97 The John Mayer Trio

  • @Mrboffy97 The John Mayer Trio.

  • Why isn't the band called Pino and the Palidino's?

  • to all the h8ers u see the dislike bar - ur dick

  • Damn..... that is a nice bass groove.

  • He is that kind of bass player, that make you think, that someone is keeping your back, whem you're playing a solo or anything else.

  • Comment removed

  • pino is well over 6ft tall so thats why he makes that bass neck look so small lol

    what a great band.

  • Is it just me or does the neck on his bass look super thin. Like paper thin?

  • Is that Prince Charles playing bass!

  • holy mother of.......those fingers.... O_O

  • 1:02!!!!!!!

  • um i wish i was in this band...

  • i really like the bassline after 2:36

  • @jewelfewel - It's Jimi Hendrix "Power of Soul" from the Band O' Gypsy's album.

  • @cwphunky68 of all the hendrix albums i haven't heard that one lol. thats awesome thanks for enlightening me. i'll just go sit in my corner and wallow in my ignorance now =(

  • what a sick trio: pino, jm and steve jordan?! i love it when they cover hendrix, too

  • good bassist but james jamerson is the most under rated bassist of all time period

  • Entwistle is a hard act to follow

  • I'd rather watch the bass player than the prima donnas the dumb cameramen usually show. Watch a 1,000 videos and you'll see that when the bass player has a solo, the cameraman will be trained on the singer, guitarist or drummer. That's why John Entwistle hated cameramen. Cameramen aren't musicians, they're usually dumbos. If you're reading this, you're probably better with a camera than some of the morons networks have hired before. Great video of Pino---Rock On Musicians!!

  • He realy knows how to interact with the guitar and vocals.

  • One of the legends next to Anthony Jackson, James Jamerson, Jaco Pastorius and the rest..

  • Song ?

  • @Apollon215 who did you think i was - john mayer trio

  • I don't think he's under rated. Not by other artists.

  • Better Sound with good headphones.

  • BASS ITSELF!!!

  • Good GOD!!

  • SOLID ¡¡¡

  • LUBIĘ| TO:)

  • SO Freaking Groovy!!!

  • MyLast Name Is Palladino :D

  • Giuseppe > Giuseppino > Pino

    OR

    Giuseppe > Peppe > Peppino > Pino

"ino" is a suffix for "little", in italian.

    VIVA PINO!!!

  • what became of the HD version of this video? i'm pretty sure i've seen it, at least 100 times some weeks ago.

    anyway THANKS babyatary!

  • thanks for this video :)

  • I didn't realise Pino was John Mayer's bassist. I might give his music a listen in future..

  • Love these additional camera angles on the dvd.

  • tight !

  • I love the 1:01 lick

  • Comment removed

  • 3:00 bass groove FTW!

  • He should be on the cover of BP magazine! Amazing what he does with two fingers no?

  • @chamoruyu he's been on the cover of BP before...a few times i think

  • He should be on the cover of BP magazine!

  • Oh, hell, that lick at 1:02 is just totally sick. He is so fluid, and he never sounds like he's overplaying.

  • *Octave pedal on @ 3:13 *

  • Pino - a living legend. Thank heavens for guys like him.

  • That's Hendrix's 'Power Of Soul' they go into after the breakdown (and Mayer's playing a Hendrix Monterey replica Strat)

JImi's legacy echoes down the decades.

  • This is one of my favourite videos on youtube.

  • lol john mayer disliked this vid

  • @FrozenKimchiMan Wtf is that supposed to mean? If you take John Mayer for a bad musician. You sir, deserve to die.

  • ああああああ、もう~ホントオオオオオにカッコイイわ、ピノ様!!!

  • Pino and Steve Jordan....One of the greatest rhythm sections in Rock and Roll history!! It doesn't get much better than that!

  • BASS FACE!!!

  • He is a normal bassist, but he has the GROOVE! :D

  • @DarkTrinity182 normal? check out > PSP simon philips or PSP at One Shot Not (ARTE) Part 1

  • My favourite part was when Pino Paladino played bass

  • YESS!!!

  • 4:12 "Damn I'm good."

  • The coolest thing about this video is that it doesn't focus on the star but on a supportive musician who's at least as talented but gets none of the fame. There are so many out there who kick ass in obscurity, and there is a secret nobility to that.

  • @owlcu Ye i like how i can choose who i will watch during this song on the DVD. If you have the dvd John Mayer Live in Los Aneles then as an extra you get to choose who you you wanna watch.

  • 0:25 - 0:30 !

  • @otiasdsr How about 1:00 to 1:05?

  • @tbcass Haha yeah !

  • Oh my gosh! That little lick at 1:02 was beautiful!

  • O.M.FUCKING G.!!!!! I JUST NUTTED. LOL

  • pino's bass looks small

  • @pokeyoaks1 It is a normal size bass. It is just that Pino is a big man :D

  • most under rated bassist of all time

  • @TheDantheman90045 Underrated by who? He's widely recognized as being a fine Bass player, especially among musicians. Of course since I'm a bass player maybe I appreciate him more than some others.

  • @TheDantheman90045 he is one of my favourite bass players..

  • @TheDantheman90045 most bassists are :/

john paul jones is under rated too

    and he is awesome

  • @TheDantheman90045 under rated, haha, he's been voted best bass player in the world like 8 years in a row

  • @whatsthebigfndeal Perhaps 8 years are not enough.

  • @whatsthebigfndeal he must be, he is the first bass player I have ever googled (apart from cliff burton)...

  • Surround yourself with seasoned pros like Pino and poof, a teeny bop idol becomes relevant. Clapton/SRV ripper. Alittle Robin Trower thrown in for good measure. Hack.

  • @Daddygeezee so what? That just shows that boy has a good taste :)

  • wow Power of soul! :)

  • he kicks in the octave effect AT: 3:12 !! he waits till the beginning of the new phrase to do it too... Pino is one of the most tasteful musicians ive ever seen. seriously an amazing way to bring up the energy level of the song. very fulfilling way to do it. these guys just cook and soar higher and higher.

  • Can't believe all the negativity. What do you expect dude? THIS IS YOUTUBE!!!! Quality is not soo good. Just accept the fact that 1. this is a rare footage of a master bass player doing what he does best... GROOVING BABY!! Don't you find it kinda weird that the camera was only on Pino?? Common people lets appreciate what God gives us to enjoy! I for one enjoyed this video very much!

  • Honda comercials are moronic.

  • That P got OWNED.

  • Gary Numan's 'I, Assassin' (1982)

Pino was given free reign by Numan to write the bass lines of every song!

  • Amen to you guys about his earlier fretless work. "MURDER" by david gilmour... absolutely incredible.

  • @nal146able I consider myself a big fan of Gilmour, yet I had never heard this one. Thanks, it was awesome.

  • @nal146able Yeah, and Don Henley's "Sunset Grill"

  • the most powerfull bass ever. Mr Pino Palladino

  • He makes it look so smooth and easy. What a player!

  • Pinoooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wonderful fluidity on a P.

  • hes so good cuz his fucking hands are huge!

  • Pino is my hero!

He plays the bass like it is nothing.

I can tell you it is not that easy to play like this.

  • somebody listened to hendrix's band of gypsys album

  • is that bass fretless? neck looks so smooth...

  • @danntjoh This one wasn't a fretless bass, but Pino first started out playing fretless bass......he is so good...works with a lot of people. One of those "A list" session players that's hard to book.

  • @blacknight811 Very true, I loved his early fretless work..was very inspiring :)

  • so smooth!!!

  • He makes that bass look little. He must be huge.

  • @saldivar80 he is VERY tall

  • What is this band?

  • @WestCoastHermanek The John Mayer Trio

  • @WestCoastHermanek This is the John Mayer Trio...this performance is part of his 3 set live concert DVD of a L.A. performance back in 2007 (don't quote me on the year). He did and acoustic set, then changed for the Trio set and then brought the whole band in for the Pop stuff.

  • Pino is the king of basses and low frequencies!

    Who agree with me? ;-)

  • Pino's wife was operating the camera?

  • @odogsantacruz Multiple cameras for the video shoot, with one on each player.

  • @odogsantacruz they recorded with cameras on each of the performers, this just the feed from pinos camera.

  • @odogsantacruz That`s an DVD option! you can change it to a diferents angles

  • @odogsantacruz i was operating the camera.

  • how'd you get a video of just pino the entire time?

  • Pino plays for David Gilmour too!

  • Does anyone know if Pino playes with Flatwound strings? It kind of looks like it, and his tone on that P-bass is always really warm and big.

  • @bigemoney31 Yes he does.

  • This is playing the bass for real. No soloing but pure sound carpet.
