Oh my, do I remember this when I was a lad! I watched it on the Sunday Night Disney show that NBC had back in the 1970's. I laughed so hard that I literally almost passed out from lack of oxygen! They identify the artist as Square Peg in a Round Hole and the song as "Blue Danube Waltz" (which everyone should have recognized...) but I thought it might be interesting as to where folks may have heard it and the artists. :P At least according to the SingAlongSongs. :P

Probably the funniest character Disney ever had in the classical tradition. I wish I could get all the tv show episodes Ludwig hosted. Heck I can still sing some of the song Drake did. Green with Envy Blues, I See the Moon, The ORIGINAL Spectrum Song and so many others. Ludwig has an animatronic figure at the Mickey Mouse Revue attraction but they never had his character walking around the parks. God Bless Ludwig Von Drake!

Lucky you! I only have one VHS tape of Ludwig von Drake episodes (consisting of four or five episodes). I sure hope Disney releases these Ludwig von Drake episodes on DVD in the Walt Disney Treasures series. It's unlikely, but we can always hope!

Maybe not so unlikely. I wrote them about it last year and they said they'd talk to Marketing about it...maybe they said that just to shut me up, but I still dare to hope. ;) Ludwig is really quite a popular character---one look at the collectibles on eBay can tell you that.

Turns out I have fewer episodes than I thought. On my old VHS tape, I have "An Adventure in Color" (Ludwig von Drake's first appearance), Inside Donald Duck, Goofing around with Donald Duck, and the Symposium on Popular Songs short (This one, however, is now available on the "Disney Rarities" DVD). I might also send a letter or an e-mail to the Disney Company requesting that these old Ludwig von Drake TV shows be released on DVD. What better way to show Disney there's a demand for it!

You can get the Disney Rarities DVD on Ebay for $20-$30 (which is fairly cheap!). I wish I could upload the Ludwig von Drake cartoons for you that I have, but, alas, I don't have the proper technology (and being that I'm a poor college student, I can't afford the proper technology, either!).

Man oh man, I have this same cartoon on a VHS tape I taped off the Disney Channel almost ten years ago. Back when the Disney Channel was actually good, and was airing Vault Disney. This clip comes from one of those weekly Disneyland shows hosted by Walt Disney in the 60's. This clip (and others) starring Ludwig von Drake were made specifically for the TV show. If you want to know the name of the specific episode this comes from, I can pop my old VHS tape into the VCR and find out.

I apologize, but it's not possible for me to get you the whole episode. I got this computer before YouTube was invented, and I do not have the proper video card needed in order to hook up a VCR or a camcorder to a computer (and that time, I had no need for such a video card). By the way, the name of the special is "Goofing Around with Donald Duck". It's too bad your missing the beginning....it involves Ludwig von Drake performing several psychological tests on Donald Duck!

Actually, "Goofing Around..." was not the original episode name; the original name was "Square Peg In a Round Hole".

Oh, really? I didn't know that! When I taped this show on the Disney Channel in 1998, the episode was titled "Goofing Around....". I wonder why the name was changed. Now that I think about it, I like the original episode name (Square Peg in a Round Hole) because it's more descriptive.
