  • Joe ive watched 100's of brewing vids and I have to say you and craigtube are the best on here.Very detailed, and very informative.Id like to steal your sanitizing tray where did you get that and what exactly is it? Cheers!

  • @ryanlovesguns Thank you very much!!! It's awesome to hear comments like this--they really make my day. The tray is actually a wallpaper tray--you can get them for just a couple bucks at most hardware stores and paint/wallpaper supply stores. They're worth their weight in gold--I couldn't brew without one now. Thank you again, and Cheers!

  • Seriously dude, with your rock star hairdo, and you're "hell ya" personality, you're like the Willy Wonka of home brew!

  • @afromime LOL

  • I could almost see myself in your house , man , my girlfriends dad told me he says he likes your character he say it runs off on him

  • @MrReidLynn Rock on!

  • when u were smelling it i was saying let me smell it

  • @terpsichoreankid ive made a nettle beer with pale spray malt, nettles and lemons any sirjestions lol i cant spell on how to make it even nicer

  • @LittleTurtleTV I've heard of nettle beers but have never made or tried one before. They seem to me to be in the same specialty categories as smoke beers and the like--very distinct flavor profiles. If I ever get the chance, I'll let you know!

  • @terpsichoreankid thnks for ur support and smoke beer?

  • I've ssen guys put in sanitizer and even vodka in the air lock, There is no need to do that. A airlock means just that, a check valve, nothing gets in and during active ferm. everything is getting pushed out. Just my 2 cents on it.

  • @dorf68 For the most part you're safe with just water. I do it as a precaution because I've had suction occur within my fermenter and it has pulled the fluid in the airlock backwards and into the brew. I've also seen some AG brews here on YT blow a lot of stuff up and out--so you'd want to keep that clean and probably use a sanitizer instead of water at least the first couple days just to be safe...

  • @terpsichoreankid Yeah But i would not want sanitizer to get in my beer. I don't think the water could get contaminated from just being exposed to natural air. And the only way it could get sucked back in is if you pushed down on the lid.

  • I say why even use a hydrometer? I can tell the gravity and ABV from the amount of malt used and the attentuatuion on the yeast.

  • @dorf68 Well done! I hope to one day have all that stuff memorized myself.

  • why did you get that bucket?

  • @MrGabesutube Are you talking about the bucket I had in the sink? If so, that's my primary fermenter--where most of the fermenting of the batch will take place. By this point, I had filled the bucket with 5 or so gallons of wort to make my batch of beer. Hopefully this helps--let me know if you have any other questions! Cheers!

  • @terpsichoreankid About the bucket itself. I was looking online and everything I have found is much more complicated than that. It looks like it would be the best for home brewing... Where did you buy most of your stuff. I am growing my own hops and barley. I wont be ready to brew for another three months, but looking to start to get all my tools in line.

  • @MrGabesutube I've gotten most of my supplies from a company called Midwest Supplies. This one was the 6.5 gallon plastic fermenter with lid. If you're just now getting your brewing supplies together, you should look into getting one of their full kits--they really do have all the stuff you'll need to do your brewing right from the start. I started with their "brewing intermediate kit" and it has been great!

  • @MrGabesutube Oh--and they do have the best pricing I've found available online. I'm not sure if that's still the case, but when I was looking to get my stuff they were by far the best, even after the shipping costs. Hope that helps! Best of luck with your first brew!

  • @terpsichoreankid You rock! I would have never found that site. I now have hope... Cheers! Very happy right now!

  • You didn't show off what yeast you were using, lol. Nice using a thief for gravity reading, I'm going to use that tip! Sanitizer in the airlock, sweet. French press is better than drip by far, and yes, I stir. Thanks!

  • @steeljan Oops! :-) For this round I used the dry Munton's 6g packet. And yes--French Presses rock! Though I'm also kind of partial to my percolator...

  • @terpsichoreankid Nooo. Hehe I always find French Press coffee taste much fresher.
