Late 90's?? I've heard a lot of people say that punk is dead but I've never heard anyone reference the late 90's as it's demise. Anyway, you could not possibly be more wrong. Punk has always been a fashion, from the very beginning, that doesn't mean that there's not good bands and music out there.
@SkunkyAngry Maybe in the English scene it was more of a fashion. I mean sure there's street punks in the states. But nothing like it was in the U.K.. The only two noteable ones that had any kind of fashion that I can think of now are the Ramones, and Misfits. Most stateside bands didn't do that much fashion.
lol, dude, I can think of a ton of American punk bands, both old and new, that were all into the fashion. Just about any band that used to be on punkcore, for starters. Or how about the Germs? Darby was the one who brought the mohican to America. I'm not even saying you're entirely wrong, definitely when the 80's hardcore scene rolled around in America it became much less of a fashion but there's plenty of American groups still rocking the punked out look.

The only two noteable ones that had any kind of fashion that I can think of now are the Ramones, and Misfits. Most stateside bands didn't do that much fashion.

lol, dude, I can think of a ton of American punk bands, both old and new, that were all into the fashion. Just about any band that used to be on punkcore, for starters. Or how about the Germs? Darby was the one who brought the mohican to America. I'm not even saying you're entirely wrong, definitely when the 80's hardcore scene rolled around in America it became much less of a fashion but there's plenty of American groups still rocking the punked out look.

What most of us old school punk lovers would rather hope, is that if you like the Casualties a lot, you'll toss the whole emo scene shit and start checking out good bands. The Exploited, Dead Kennedys, 88 Fingers Louie, Devotchkas (kick ass punk chix), Lunachicks, Misfits and so on. :D
