  • This movie was made and released back when movie-makers and all those guys didn't give the kids of this age junk that turns ther brains into a bunch of mush. Back when movies had actual meanings and morals and weren't just provided for entertainment and (on the makers' part) profit.

  • When animation was still as powerful as poetry :)

  • Wow. Even just this small clip is as powerful to me now as it was when I was a little girl. What an amazing movie.

  • My brother is a full grown man in his 30's and till this day he tears up watching this scene. As do I. Now pass the tissue paper :'(

  • when your innocence is gone, you never notice it right away. but after a while, you come to understand it, and mourn it.

i never saw this movie, but i'm thinking i should. there's a lot of emotion in this 1 minute and 15 seconds, more than i usually see nowadays.

  • @TheLastHylianTitan so true...I mourn it more than anything else..

  • I have the VCR version and DVD

    VCR is better go Molly

  • Why would they take that out

It's been like that since I cam remember

I've watched that for 14 years

    It's a very powerful part

    How dare they

  • I can't believe they would take such a powerful scene from the rest of the movie. The story itself is more set in the tone of thise scene, that beauty alone cannot sustain prosperity. The feeling you get when the bliss of a friend's company is suddenly gone as they become suddenly absent and for no apparent reason abandoned you to a world of darkness which nobody cared to mentally prepare you for.

  • @TheEnviousdominous wow, poetic! :o

  • One of the most powerful scene I always cry wen I see this scene

  • I remember as a child being confused as hell as to why the woman changed from being so angry and sad to calm and forgiving, then again I was distracted by a unicorn and with my horse riddled mind it would clearly take all of my focus away from the film.

  • I always remembered her saying damn you when I first saw it

  • I have this still on video and its got the Dam u bit in :D

  • "Where have you been? Damn you, where have you been?! Where were you twenty years ago? Ten years ago? Where were you when I was new…? How dare you come to me now, when I am THIS!”

Damn! Of all the scenes in this movie, this is one that I can vividly remember even after more than two decades. The bittersweet irony of finding something in your life when it is a little too late... :-(

  • @TitoTheThird its called DRAMA! LOL

  • My friend has the dvd and both Molly's and Lir's "damns" were edited out. BUT...they kept the 3 titties on the harpy and the shot of Amalthea's skinny booty. So, kids, the lesson is: Tits n Ass GOOD FOR YOU, say "damn" YOU SHUT UP THAT FILTH!!!! I raised you better!!!!

  • Molly's' reaction would be recapitulated by many of my aging virgin friends if a babe ever approached them one day.

  • Truly stands out in my memory as one of the most passionately felt and emotion wrought moments in film history. I would wager more than one of us has used it as an internal metaphor.

  • @aeonjoey I'm from the bahamas, and this movie scene truly indeed is #1 on my list. Thumbs up if agreed!!!

  • I agree that it was totally pointless to edit out Molly's use of the word damn; the argument that its' for the sake of little kids is bullshit, I watched it when I was a little kid and so have thousands of other both child and adult alike. It is an insult to the movie in my opinion to take out such an important moment in understanding why Molly is the way she is! Also the rest of the movie would have to be edited well for nudity and other language: Prince Lir says 'damn' reciting his poem

  • Thank You so much for this touching scene. :')

  • i just got the 25th anniversery of the movie and damn has been taken out from what i saw. but strange they have showing the harpy its three boobs and then a tree acting like a tart and calling the unicorn a husy, having the human form unicorn be naked (Which if they took it out wouldn't make much scene) but all that does not compare to the word "damn" i mean the heck? why did they take it out in the first place. well i know for little kids. but the 80's kids heard it and we were there -_-;

  • This version is sooo much better

  • Even as an 18 year old, this depresses me, so much.

  • AWWWWWWWW.

  • I didn't realize back in the day quite how sad this scene was. And I was thinking of it earlier. Thanks for posting it.

  • When I was a little girl, I didn't understand this scene at all.... I love this movie all the more that I can really understand and be touched by Molly's emotions.

  • Thanks for this. I hate that when I bought this on DVD it was censored.

  • I have the original VHS tape and it had this scene in it.

  • The version I first watched had a revised version of this scene. Shortened.

Just those few added lines change it so much.

  • The version I first watched had a revised version of this scene. Shortened.

Just those few added lines change it so much.

  • does anyone know if the song in the background is available for download or if it has ever been released??

  • @momokochan456

The song in the background is the theme of this movie, the name is "The Last Unicorn".

  • This bit makes me cry everytime I see it

  • They really cut this scene out of the story? Thats horrible >_<

  • @warriorking4ever in my version it's there :0 I've never seen the movie without it..thank goodness, too...especially now when I know how she feels...if I saw a unicorn now, I'd break down and cry, too...

  • This scene is so sad! Poor molly. I like how she laughs. It's a laugh that says "Yeah, you're here now, so what? My youth and innocents are long behind me. What good is it for me to see you now?"

  • I love this scene, i get gooseflesh again and again.. It tears me up ;_;

  • The one other line that almost equals Molly's monologue in this scene (and continues the theme) is when the unicorn is transformed into Amalthea and she says "I can feel this body dying all around me!" Maybe "immortal" and "mortal" mean pure and impure? Like how no matter how innocent we are in the beginning, we're continually decaying, losing that innocence, without any power to stop it as mortals and Amalthea has suddenly lost the power of that representation Molly admires.

  • I had this movie on tape, and when i lost the tape and saw this scene on youtube, there wasn't that original line. It's good to see someone remember it. =)

  • So apparently the guys who made the movie were thinking:

"You know "damn you" is way to explicit for a childrens movie, lets cut it out, now lets add a harpy with 3 naked saggy grandma tits, A tree with breasts, and show the human version of the unicorn naked for like 2 minutes straight"

    *Facepalm*

  • This is a such a sad scene in the movie for me. It made me sympathesize Molly when she said "Where were you when I was new, when I was one of those innocent young maidens you always come to? How dare you. How dare you come to me now. When I am THIS!"

  • I'm an amatuer actor, and when i need to cry on stage i think about this scene. it works every time. in fact a little tear just squeaked out while typing this.

  • Is it? I need to see this again...

  • I actually have an original in which the line "Damn you" IS in the movie and NOT taken out:)

  • When you're a child, you don't understand why Molly's so angry.

When you're an adult, you do. And you cry, just like Molly.

  • @RunsWithWeasels Even as a child, I understood. And I cried and cried. I still cry. Don't underestimate children.

  • @dammitpea Yes! Me too! I have always always remembered this scene, because it struck me so as a child. (And the "Damn you" helped too...bad words! Oh no!) It's one of the saddest, rawest scenes in a children's animation ever. And it's beautifully done. Voice acting is superb. And it's great, all the way through, even to zinger at the end... "It would be the last unicorn in the world to visit Molly Grue." (not verbatim I think lol)

  • @RunsWithWeasels My god, you're so right. I always thought she was overreacting when I was a kid. I just watched this scene for the first time in 20 years, and I lost my composure completely.

  • Its funny how the movie blipped out the swear word but not the four breasted vulture!

  • @DivinePearl ...Vulture? Do you mean the harpy?

  • @Skullsandbubbles ahh yes, I meant harpy... couldn't think of the name at the time..

  • @Skullsandbubbles ...Harpy? Do you mean the wife?

  • @shadowwolf41 No, do you remember the vulture creature that was locked in a cage? thats a harpy.

  • This movie means as much to me now as it did when I was a child ~ the understanding of the inner child and the wisdom of the inner adult standing hand in hand. <3 I knew what this scene meant at five years old because I had watched the adults around me, and I could see Molly in many of them.

This movie had a deep, profound effect on me: it helped shape me for the rest of my life.

  • yeah ik, i saw the cut out for it, it was stupid lolz,. i said the line and i felt lonely bcuz i ddint expect it >D

  • This scene all ways makes me cry. :)

  • I don't know why but this scene always brings tears to my eyes, I know I am silly but I get so sad when Molly says "how dare you come to me now, when I am this" It sounds so heartbreaking.

  • HOW could they, HOW dare they, to CUT scenes out of a master piece, a piece of art, a piece of history?! DAMN YOU!

  • I like how the mild swear words were a problem but not the tree with tits or the harpy's 3 breasts.

  • @Amalthea16 Amen to that...I saw this movie for the first time when I was about 8, and I wouldn't have bat an eye at that swear word, but man, those titties on that tree made me awkward O_____O

  • "Unicorns are for beginnings," he said, "for innocence and purity, for newness. Unicorns are for young girls." Molly was stroking the unicorn's throat as timidly as though she were blind. She dried her grimy tears on the white mane. "You don't know much about unicorns," she said. (from the book by Peter S. Beagle)

  • " It would be the last unicorn that came to Molly Grue." I thought that part was sooo sad!

  • now that is some good scripting

  • Where were you when I was new! When I am THIS! It would be the last unicorn in the world that came to Molly Grue Poor Molly! i can imagine the feeling. . .

  • Molly's pissed because she's a whopping 33 years old and an "old maid", lol xD oh well, she likes Schmendrick, good thing he's into mature ladies and she's a cougar.

if there's anything i got out of The Last Unicorn, it's the message "everything works out perfectly in the end" =D

  • @rofflemows2 I thought it was that unicorns always go to beautiful young virgin girls, and Molly is none of those things at this point. So she's sad that the unicorn came to her after she lost her innocence and beauty.

  • The Blu-Ray has both uncensored and censored language versions.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Excellent! I'm glad the distributors came to an understanding about the film's language. Obviously I don't think it needed to be edited to begin with but I am happy to hear the options have improved.

  • @Johnlindsey289 Where did you buy them at?

  • There's a setting on the dvd that it isn't cut out but before i knew about it, It pissed me off that they did cut the line out

  • Oh, god, I haven't even watched this movie before; I just got sent here by a fanart, but I seriously started crying while watching this. This is probably one of the most deeply emotional things I've ever seen.

  • When I was a child I didn't really understand this scene. I thought, for what Molly said, that they had been friends, but the unicorn had left her.

Now I have tears in my eyes seeing this, and understanding.... It is not a children story, not at all.

  • When I was little, I thought Molly was just a huge bitch.

As a grown-up, I find her completely heartbreaking. This scene makes me tear up every time.

  • I love this scene.

  • Thank You =)

  • This is how I remember it from when I was little too - nothing deleted. This is my favourite scene in the whole film. I didn't really understand why she started to cry when I was little, but I watched it much later and was very moved.

  • wow, i just watched the 25 anniversary edition and didn't even notice....

  • Just a note to anyone watching: Yes the 25th anniversary DVD did edit the lines out. However, they have just released a newly remastered Bluray/DVD combo pack that is uneditted and has a brand new commentary track by the author of the book, Peter Beagle and his business partner, Connor Cochran. It's fantastic and worth picking up, but if you do, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE buy it through Conlan Press's website or Peter will not get a cent for it. Just google Conlan Press to find their site.

  • I always thought this was one of the most achingly poignant scenes in the movie. This isn't just about Molly seeing a unicorn for the first time - it's about what the unicorn represents to her, the irretrievable loss of her youth and innocence. The unicorn's appearance forces Molly to reconcile the painful loss of better days.

  • @Jadicegirl Wow, I never thought about it that way...but you hit it on the nail. From that viewpoint, it makes me cry all over again :-(

  • @Jadicegirl My thoughts exactly, I especially like the scene where the people see her and one of the women tear up. Imagine if you did see something that most if not all people claimed did not exist, and you saw it.

  • @Jadicegirl it's about the unicorn saying "Wtf Schmendrick, who is this crazy bitch and what the hell is she talking about? Lookit her, all cryin and shit...tell your friend to quit crying on my coat."

  • @rofflemows2 hey ruffles go insult someone else, please. They are bullying over in the next county, go get it.

  • @Jadicegirl I haven't thought of that...now I'm crying... :'(

  • @Jadicegirl I'm in tears. I haven't cried over this scene ever since I was an 8 year old.

  • @Jadicegirl I agree with you 100%.

  • @Jadicegirl i agree... i think it's a shame they only used 1 page for this scene in the comic book, it was a great adaption though but i think they really didn't get mollys character right.

i love this scene it's definetly one of my favourites.

  • Damn you is the most innocent "cuss" word I have ever heard!! Why cut the line out?? I let my kids watch the original and they luvd it as much as I did (I'm 35 btw). Disney channel has kids that dress like hookers and act like monsters!

  • hahaha I made my boyfriend watch this with me and he liked it until they started to sing xD

  • I was watching my dvd and insted of cutting the entire section of film they just cut the dialog. But the mouth still moves. Weird what the movie companys and the FCC conciders inaproprate anymore. They cut inicent shit like this out of old movies and puts more obsine programs and diaolg on tv. Stupid asses if you ask me. Get your heads on straight. We wouldn't need parental locks if they left tv alone like the 50s till the 70s.

  • does anyone know if there is a way to get the song in the background? it's not on the soundtrack-cd, right?

  • Yeah, I was always confused why Schmendrick said to Molly "Don't talk to her that way" when she didn't even say anything bad (in the new version). Now I know why.

  • To me, this is actually the most beautiful part of the movie. The film as a whole is gorgeous and speaks to the "mystical" side in all of us-- but this scene was so, so human. It's funny, because I've watched this movie a million time (since I was five), and I never even REALIZED the significance of it until now that I'm growing up and my innocence and daydreaming is slowly fading.... It makes me want to cry.

And THAT is why this is one of my favorite movies ;)

  • I have the 25th anniversary edition and its cut out -.-, I watched the vhs at 10 (12 yrs ago) and it had the damn you and the damn parts. It adds emotion and flavor.

  • I own 2 DvDs (anniversary and a cheap release) and the original VHS and both DvDs have every 'damn' cut from it. Molly's, the lock from the cage and Prince Lir's. It's a little annoying since it's not that terrible of a word anymore.

  • @confusedkain The lock on the cage? When does that line take place? I didn't know it cursed

  • @CrazyCatLover45 When Schmendrick opens the lock with Rooks keys because he second rate pick-pocketed him. Finally picking the right key and opening the lock it says "Daammnn", in a 'shutting down' sort of tone.

  • @confusedkain weird. I always thought it said "some magician" in a mocking tone?

  • @CrazyCatLover45 It does but then the scene continues:

    Schmendrick: "Aw turn blue.."

*Camera cuts to the Manticore as it growls*

*Camera then cuts to the Harpy as it turns its head to watch*

    Unicorn: "Hurry!"

And then when he opens the lock it says 'damn'.

  • @confusedkain

    Nope, it was gagging

  • I Love The Book Of This

  • hi everyone. i just got the 25th anniversary edition one at walmart on 2/17/11 and it isnt opened yet. i didnt open it yet because i was going to ask people here about it first to see if this version is the right one or not. so if someone tells me it is the good version then ill open it and if someone tells me it is the bad version then i wont open it and ill return it. so someone please let me know what one i have as soon as you can. thanks.

  • @RebekahLeigh1979 I think you have the edited version! As someone stated below, it is the American (NTSC region 1) 25th Anniversary that is edited. =)

  • I was so pissed when they changed the scene. I was like "What? Is my movie skipping or glitched? There is parts missing!" I'm still trying to find the foreign english version of the DVD that has the proper scene.

  • @oblviousnesssucks1 yes there is a book. It's beautiful and the movie remains quite faithful to it :)

  • @luciousladylucius Have to agree. The book has more details an story, but that the way. You can't put everything in the movie that's in the book, though the town Haggsdeep (think that's the name) would have added a bit more flavor to the story of the movie.

  • @theiran Hagsgate was the town. Hagsgate is the perfect metaphor for this time, too - the economic problems, the unrest, etc.

  • @luciousladylucius

They should do a live-action adaptation of that book done by Guillermo del Toro of Pan's Labyrinth, Hellboy and Devil's Backbone fame as he is a fantasy fan who makes quality dark fantasy and James Cameron as executive producer since he is a fan of animation and fantasy. Glen Close or Sigourney Weaver for Molly, Robert "Freddy" Englund or Ian mckellen as Haggard, Robbie Coltrane "Hagrid" as the Cat's voice, that cute blonde girl who plays Luna on Harry Potter as Amalthea etc

  • @Johnlindsey289 hell no, should be Andy Dick as Lir, Miley Cyrus as Amalthea, Brad Pitt as Haggard, Alan Alda as the Talking Cat, and Justin Bieber as the Red Bull. that'd be something to watch xD

  • Watching the movie now and yes they did

  • Decided to get the dvd today just because I wanted to watch it again.

And yep... they cut out the two instances any character said "Damn".

    ...........Fucking language Nazi assholes....

  • Huh. On my copy of the 25 Aniv. DVD she just says, "Where have you been? Where have you been!?" You'd think, if anything, they'd cut out the Enchanted Tree scene instead! My goodness!!!

  • I didn't get this scene when I was younger. Looking at it now, I understand completely why Molly reacted that way to the unicorn.

"It would be the last unicorn in the world that came to Molly Grue."

Why the hell don't we have movies like this anymore?

  • Now that I'm older, I feel a connection to this scene. Foster Dad is going in for surgery next Monday. I've already lost my Biological mother and father to death and 2 of my 5 siblings. Am in University now and now old highschool classmates and 'friends' who knew my dad are suddenly coming to me now 1 week before my Dads surgery.

This scene, feelings are the same. "Where have you been!" to all who missed the most distressing moments in my life. "How dare you come to me now! When I am this!"

  • @Snowman20 Dear, I know of some people whom friends never did! Never visited or asked.. not even a 'Hallo' or 'How you are?"..

You should be thankful... when people call others to see how they are doing.. it's genuine! Never fake! Especially after a long time!

    They care! They do!

.. and if the dead were to be asked by God to choose; if it was them or their loved ones to die.. they will always choose themselves and see their children and loved ones live! Please don't sadden

  • @.. those who love you! Wither dead or living.. especially those who ask about you! Remember, people mature slow.. wisdom is slower.. most of us don't see the big picture so soon..

Learn to forgive! <:-) (and I believe you do that already!).. and always look at the brighter side of life, pray for the dead and living, and always, always search for the truth, and put your faith in God, and ask him sincerely that you are willing to find it.

    I pray for your dad..

    Please take care. =)

  • This scene makes me cry every time watch it. I can hear and sympathise with this poor woman who had to put away and forget about the time when she was young and beautiful and have her life ahead of her, only to have circumstances deny her hopes and dreams and become a bandit out in the forest. Then she sees the unicorn, and all her youthful hopes and ambitions come flooding back, and is reminded of all the things she had to give up. Why is she seeing it now after having given up for so long? : (

  • I can't wait for the 2 disc Blu-Ray which will have more features and the uncut version.

  • At least she didn't say "Oh Shit what am I gonna do now!"

  • Maybe only the american Zone 1 DVD got cuts.

The european Zone 2 DVD still got all those lines.

  • I understand molly I understand the heartache and anger I was a child who loved unicorns so very much I really waited I thought for sure I'd see a unicorn. One day a circus came to town they advertised that they had a unicorn I was so excited anyway I went to go see their unicorn it was just a poor ol' goat I guess I stopped believing after that.

  • :'(

  • @Cup88Cake X'O

  • Thank you. When my ex bought the DVD version, I was appalled that they cut Molly's dialogue up. Molly Grue has always been my favorite character from the book, and this is the very scene that made me love her so much. Pity the film couldn't give her the depth the book does, but she still shines brightly in spite of that.

  • Uhmm...not to cause waves or anything. But I just watched my dvd of it. And it says gorgeously same as always Damn You! Exactly the same as this clip. Nothing's been deleted...and my dvd is the 25th anniversary edition just the same...? Are you in a different country or something that it got deleted?

  • @DatalovesTasha I had heard the Anniversary collection had some deleted lines. It is entirely possible that editing was only done in certain regions and/or print runs.

  • @DatalovesTasha I just wanted the Blue Ray and the line was cut from mine. :-( I have seen this movie so many times and I went to say the line with it and it was missing. LOL

  • @DatalovesTasha On my dvd the line was deleted. So, I bought another copy of it on itunes, where it was the original.

  • @DatalovesTasha Yea my dvd, it's not the anniversary edition, but it's deleted. My vhs has the swear.

  • @DatalovesTasha In the 25th anniversary edition I watched the curse words we taken out. Same with Prince Leer's 'damn' over his poem. Perhaps there's just different editions going around. Do you have the Blu-Ray or the DVD?

  • @DatalovesTasha In the 25th anniversary edition I watched the curse words we taken out. Same with Prince Leer's 'damn' over his poem. Perhaps there's just different editions going around. Do you have the Blu-Ray or the DVD?

  • Unicorns also symbolize hope, so Molly was angry that she looked for hope so early on & it never came, only to reappear later in life when she felt hopeless and quite bitter about life (understandable to her circumstances.), when she had already been through so much on her own.

  • I never understood this scene...

But then again, I don't really understand the mythology of unicorns...

They only show themselves to the pure, right? Wouldn't that have made Molly feel better?

  • @Jadensamma The book explains this better but basically this is a very traditional view of unicorn mythology and everyone in this world is genre savvy. Molly has wanted to see a unicorn for many, many years because of the symbolism involved (which is too complex for a 500 character comment unfortunately) but when none ever appeared she grew bitter. She's had a pretty hard life and is understandably pissed when a unicorn finally turns up.

  • @ladyabaxa Feel free to PM me the symbolism. I'd like to understand it. :)

  • @Jadensamma I'll have to re-read the novel again but I'll get to it when I can.

  • @Jadensamma Unicorns were supposed to only show for pure virgins, thats why Molly was so angry and upset, she waited and instead become a lover for that robin hood wannabe, thats why she says 20 and 10 yrs ago when she was "new" and "innocent". It's kinda nice that she sees Amalthea really, since she is still pure hearted :)

  • @Jadensamma from what I understand about Unicorns in mythology, they would only appear to young virgin maidens. It can be safe to assume that Molly is no longer either of those three, so I guess she's more angry at her loss of innocence or something.

  • Thank you for this video!

    This is my favorite moment.

I would have asked the same question to unicorn as Molly

    T________T

  • @MynameLeXoN You and me BOTH! Thumbs up if you girls/guys agree!

  • @shord1989

Definitely, i'm a straight guy and loves this movie since i was a kid back in the 80's. A guy doesn't have to be gay or bi to enjoy this movie, this movie offers some stuff to guys as well including Lady Amalthea who is a real cutie that the guys smile. I had a crush on her when i was 3 when i first saw this movie as my parents taped it for me on a second VCR as we had 2 VCRs back in 85 as i had my own, LA has been one of my fantasy girls as a kid.

  • WHERE HAVE YOU BEEEEEEEEEEEEN

  • Is there an instrumental to this somewhere? I really like the melody in this scene!

  • @FemalePirate Yeah they released the soundtrack but only in Germany. You can get it tho. Check Amazon.

  • This was my favorite movie when I was little.

  • that's odd - I just re-watched the VHS of this movie that I've had since I was in diapers...and they didn't delete her lines at all!

    Must be a DVD thing.

  • @Swayambhu This is from a VHS recording in response to reports that the Anniversary DVD deleted several lines of dialogue.

  • I haven't seen this movie in years and vaguely remembered this scene. It certainly become much more heartbreaking some twelve years later.

  • Brought a tear to my eye

  • This scene, this movie, means so much more now then it did when I was a child.

  • @MyHorsieIsBest This scene confused me when I was a kid since I was dumb and didn't know Unicorn=Virginity=Innocence...

  • thanks for posting, it is a tragedy that this scene was edited in the new release!

  • @GreenEyedNessie Really? This scene is so important!

  • Aww... this part is so heartbreaking. A world of innocence she lived in was right before her eyes all along but it never said hello :/

  • This was my absolute favorite movie when I was very young. Thinking back, Molly in this scene reminds me so much of myself. Tears were in my eyes by the end of this.

  • I haven't seen this movie since I was really little. Obviously I didn't know what Molly was talking about then, but somehow, I was still deeply moved. There's something about her pacing and crying that speaks of the death of something pure and almost fantastical in a world covered in grime. It's a beautiful scene.

  • Love this scene.I once heard that in medevil leagends that a unicorn would visit a beautiful virgion girl showing how pure she really is, a symbol of purity. Propably just some propaganda to just girls to it keep it in their dress's during those days. But in relation to this wonderful yet sad scene, I believe when Molly says "where were you 20 years ago,10 years ago where were you when i was new" and so forth meaning when she was young innocent virgin before life reaped her of her innocence.

  • I grew up watching this film at least 100 times over on a very worn-out VHS tape, and when it was finally released to DVD I was thrilled that I would be able to see it in high quality-- that is, until I saw this scene, with Molly's wholly emasculated dialogue. The pacing is just terrible with the editing, and the dramatic impact deflated. What boggles me most is the fact that the offensive phrase is so benign that the damage is not worth it. This film is not for toddlers. Thanks for posting.

  • I didn't know the new edition removed anything. good thing i did not buy it the other day. this is one of my favorite scenes in the whole film, and for it to be removed diminishes the movie as a whole. guess I'll stick with my battered VHS.

  • @zombiebowie Same!

  • Wow! I did not realize that such a pure and innocent movie could be the center of such nasty behavior. Goes to prove that the ugliness of human nature knows no bounds. Good job cretins.

  • Thank you for posting this. This is my most favorite movie, and unfortunately I think I gave away my original DVD when I got the anniversary edition, before I learned of the changes. They truly strip away part of this movie's power.

  • Even when I was young and watching this movie I always felt that I would end up like Molly. Thanks for letting me see the magic again before I got too old and forgetful of what real magic is like this movie.

  • @ladyabaxa- I sort of get the impression you're a self-important fool. That is all.

  • @jballs25 I get the impression that you're banned. That is all.

  • This goes right over a 7 year old's head. Damn you!

  • @YukonBloamie Indeed. When I was 5, I didn't get this. Now? Tugs at my heart because I finally understand it.

  • the anniversary edition also sped up the pitch of the whole movie and altered the original soundtrack, somethings dont need altering like this movie. Anyone who knows this movie knows that the original was magical and perfect the way it is. Although Ill admit I purchased several copies to show my support of the film, the original dvd release is still the one I watch.

  • Can someone please tell me where I can buy the original uncensored version of this movie? I love it so much and I can not find my old VHS of it. I watched it so many times when I was so small. The idea that anyone would give a shit and actually change this film makes me want to vomit. Must be a very petty, sexist person who made that choice. I must have the original! Someone please help!

  • @PersianButtons if you search ebay or amazon you can find the original release on DVD actually, I did.

  • @PersianButtons

It's on Blu-Ray/DVD combo now with the uncensored and censored versions. Since your an 80's and early 90's kid like me, do you remember Warriors of the Wind? it was that butchered version of Nausicaa from New World Pictures and cut from 117 minutes to 84 minutes and had a different dub cast including character name changes.

  • I saw this movie twice when I was little and I always though molly (didn't know her name at the time) was a boy XD
