i got really annoyed with doctors and hospitals, every specialist i saw said that there were signs of ASD (autistic spectrum disorder) but never fully diagnosed me but i finally got diagnosed last year with Aspergers syndrome. the woman that i saw said she believes i show signs of ADHD and autism but mainly aspergers. i am now receiving the help i need. i find your videos really encouraging I'm glad you have the kindness and confidence to upload them, many thanks.
But it is aspergers. That is what I identify with. They try too hard to look for the right answer, as to what is "wrong" with me. I tell them I'm not broken, nothing is the matter with me. Nut they try anyways to find what's the solution. There's no solution. I have aspergers. I have it, they don't. If they had it, then that would seem more logical form them to wanna fix it. I don't wanna be fixed.
First off, you're pretty. Secondly, you have managed to mask it very well. Third, you seem to be, as you said, quite intelligent and mature. Maybe "autism" is just a mutation and is part of evolution. Some would argue that being "antisocial" is unhealthy, etc but I would beg to differ. I don't have Aspergers nor any form of autism but I would be what you call "antisocial." Everything that you go through with difficulties in communicating with others is something that I also go through so I can
I gave up attempting to have friends as it just doesn't work :l
Both my Step-parents do not understand me in anyway teasing me on my 'quirks' such as how I do not move my arms when walking to maintain/gain momentum or how I speak (apparantly in a very low robotic tone with what I would have considered normal dialect).
They are all of...'less then average' inteligence and don't understand a word they say especially when someone says 'oh that has chemicals in it' and I absolutely explode at them:l
Hi there, I really like your channel and the fact that you had the discipline and courage to make a forum and post videos about the syndrome. Even though I am a guy, I really find our experiences pretty common and because of that I can really relate. I think the differences between an AS girl or boy would be consequences of how differently the society treats the 2 genders. So by nature, the mindsets should be quite similar, kind of like how baby girls and boys react quite similar to stimulations
I don't have that syndrome...but I just want to know how people feel about it because inside I can tell sometimes what's wrong with a person and this girl with it has feelings that were expressed when this other one attackexplained her syndrome to the class...she opened up in a way that proves that people with that syndrome can behave quite similar to those classified as "normal beings" I am a 16 year old and I learned more....
I got aspergers, diagnosed in my mid-twenties....I am a lady, so like you know, girls are different from boys......glad to see you doing videos....keep it up...xxx
Im a 19year old guy with Asperger's and i was diagnosed between 2 and 3 years of age,the reason i think i was diagnosed early was because i was very hyper active and had high levels of energy all the time and most days i,d get up at 7am and not go to bed until 5am,which meant that i hardly ever slept.i also used to get very easily annoyed if people wound me up and diden,t like alarms. have you seen my channel page on facebook. its called The Aspergers Channel
Do you really have aspergers? One of the biggest mistakes we as aspergers make is that we try to copy people that we fear in order to appeal to them and not become their target, trying to be your own idiot self might get yourself out better and not give them the impression that you're inferior to them. Whatever you do, people will bash on you and people will hate you, but it's the feeling inside of you at that moment of the insults, that determines your reaction to it. Just think you're the shiz
I never really bothered trying to fit in with typical females. They never had interesting things to talk about, and their cliquey behavior always left me out of the group. I wanted friends who valued me in their groups, so I'd hang out with other outcasts instead. I learned over time not to dominate conversations with my special interests, and simply be considerate of others. You don't need "typical girl" role models to teach you social skills.
I'm a 54 yr old American woman. I'm going through evaluation for Asperger's now. People didn't know about Asperger's when I was a child.
I was very like you when I was your age. I find now that I get progressively more tired from trying to 'appear normal' for all these years. I've also had the depression and anxiety. I hope to get help now, I hope you have a long and happy life and wish you the best. :)
By the way your videos are very informative. Its good to see people who have such hardship speaking out about it to inform other people. Good for you Willow :)
@armshount I was a goth in high school, but I fit in with them well so it actually helped me to have a few friends. Also, my obsessions were mostly all to do with certain rock bands, in high school, and some of the subjects at school as well like English, Science, IT and Art so it was sort of okay to talk about those things most of the time so I guess I got away with it.
@WillowMarsden Funny you say that I wasn't one my self, but I kinda hung out with the goths, as well as the geeks. I myself found it easist to make friends amongst those two groups, but as far as myself I was and still am a metalhead there were also a few other metal heads as well that I had fit in with too.
For some reason, in school I was very popular with Goths at my school because they thought I was weird and I was like them alot with no facial expressions and all. I had an obsession with Locks also, I would lock and unlock the doors locks in the house which would upset my parents lol...
It actually annoyed alot of people and still does. I was never really unhappy in high school though. I never really socialized with people and didn't care too. I would basically do my work and go home, work on my computers, read about my interests, listen to music that calmed me such as classical music which I love:) . Write. I went through a few obsessions such as Psychology, biology, Economics, Finances, Computers, Psychiatry, Political Sciences, Sociology. Those were my obsessions. Still are
Hello Willow.. I am from Canada and I suspect I have Aspergers Syndrome. When I was still going to high school (right now I am 22) everyday was the same. I never really socialized at school often and all. I am very brilliant, just not very strong social skills. I have obsessive interests that I switch back and forth from all the time.. Like right now I am interested in Economics and Finances. When I was going to school I was obsessed with computers and would never stop talking about that.
@jizzy2k They Are, women can get away with a lot of things Males can't, not that Males can't get away with having Aspergers it is just that in general Society A Male is Expected to Be A Man, Tough, Ready, and Hard and it is very Difficult to be that way if you are a Man with Aspergers. women are expected to be Soft, Good Natured, and do funny Childish things, and fall inh Love with a Tough Man because that is basic Human Nature...Aspergers is a defect in Nature
And the best part is, i can start a random and cheerful conversation with a stranger, in fact thats how i made a few of the friends i have today, i still socialize with some people that ive grown up with, even the ones that i was mean too in my school years. All i did was just say im sorry and mean it. Some of the other kids around town and formers schoolmates still see me as the bad guy they met in school and really want nothing to do with me, but its their loss
Today since i was given the much needed social skills to blend in and make friends, i have little or trouble making the right kind of friends, and being a true friend to those who need one badly enough. how im able to do this, medication and the right knowledge of right and wrong, and better understanding of life through expirience. whatever anyone with aspergers goes through, chances are i know and feel your pain, so youre not alone
Im a 22 year old male, and i have aspergers. I was diagnosed at age 7 when i 1st started havin trouble in school on the social level. my grade school, middle school, and high school years were tough because id be considered hostile when my peers acted rudely, resulting in me makin threats, getting into fights, and at times just being violent because some punk makes a crack about my wardrobe and then id wind up goin off on him
is just a matter of perception, i don't think this is a real psycological desease, or syndrome, is just the way we are, who say we have to be a social person?, just be happy with what you got and build from there, just because millions of people say eating rats is healthy doesn't mean is true, the real true is you, not what other persons say,
@laladuplex I am happy with what I have, but Asperger's Syndrome is a real syndrome and denying that won't help me. Accepting it and learning how to deal with it will help me and does help me.
i am 31 and been diagnosed about 6 months ago and rarely comment cos moods fire up from nearly everthing around me and i do have better days but my moods are definately dangerous at times and lots of it comes from frustation with everything. i don t use it as an excuse, this is what it is like and getting looked at like a monster, i think most humans dont help to this cause. i always knew something was just wrong is how i would describe aspergers syndrome. i really do want to socialize

I am a 40 year old woman with aspergers. I was diagnosed with ADHD as a kid because aspergers was not in the DSM until 1994 I think. My younger experiences with friends were very similar to yours. Like you I was good at observing the situation but could not figure out how to fit in.
I'm male 26 years of age. I have to say i had to watch it twice your good looks are very distracting. Your story is very similar to mine. Faked my way true all of it. I've got the feeling the woman are still much more sensitive. You also seem to still want friends. I spend my time battling off people who want to be friends. It's never a give & take it's only a give & give. Maybe i'm wrong ofcourse. Bullied yes but in the mans world the fist is stil the final word. I'm not nice but i am fair.
I am a boy with asperges. I have been bullied in the past it has made me stronger as a person. I always treat people nicely so I kind of found it bizarre why I would be treated horribly by anybody, but I guess it's what happens. I have never been the "popular" person at all in my life, and that really bothered me, but after a while I kind of figured out that I am really happy to not fit in, because my interests and my friends (some who have asperges, one being a girl) make me happy.
Thanks so much for this blog. I have a wonderful, unique, funny and insightful daughter with Aspergers. I agree with you about more girls going undiagnosed since they can easily blend in. She is upset because it's tough for her to find other girls interested in fashion and alternative rock hardcore music. I am trying to get her to go to places where she can socialize with kids like her. Any tips on how I can support her as her mom that loves and cares for her deeply?
my daughter is ten and dx with PDD-NOS and I think.... your words are so right on. You're a very brave and articulate young woman and thank you for putting this out there. It will make a difference.
I am a 29 year old woman that was just officially diagnosed with AS. I was diagnosed bipolar two years ago and diagnosed depression when I was 14. I was never like anyone else quite literally from the day I was born. Very early reader, intelligent. Obsessive interests. I was always awkward socially and only really learned how to fake normalcy during my last year of high school. Now doing so burns me out so quickly; I shut down/meltdown nearly every day. That may also be due to the BPD, however.
I'm a 13 year old girl with Aspergers. I was diagnosed at age 10, but I knew long before then that I wasn't like other people, or other girls. Once we all became teenagers, most of the girls became bitches and most of the guys became total douchebags. I always felt immensely more mature than them, and that lead me to being incredibly antisocial and always wondering what they thought of me. I've tried acting how they do, but it never works. I'm trying to be myself, but it's hard.
Hi there Im a guy and can empathise and relate to many of the things you mentioned. I am 28 and have just been diagnosed with aspergers dsypraxia and something else it was a very long overdue diagnosis. I can remember not being very sociable and even now prefer to spend time on my own then in the company of others. I think its wonderful that you took the time to share your experiences and how you tried to deal with them.
@michiyoyoshiku Actually, you are misinformed. Asperger's will no longer be a diagnosis of itself. It will be listed under the category of Autism Spectrum Disorders.
@michiyoyoshiku You obviously don't work in Psych either because I do and you clearly are not aware that they have in fact not denied Asperger's existance nor have they said it won't be in the new DSM V. astucia01 was correct; they are presently still debating as to whether or not they are going to merge Asperger's with HFA or migrate HFA and Asperger's into a completely new disorder unto itself. Get your facts straight before you make claims you obviously know little about.
Naaaw :) Well, you are cute, and having Asperger's isn't so bad anyway, seriously, when there's people starving to death and everything x) You just gotta see the bright light of it. Myself, I'm quite a social Aspie with a loving family and some admiring friends. :) I enjoy my life well and look positivily about everything. Still, been trough lots of challenges :) Just got diagnosed a few months ago, i'm 19 years old and a guy. ^^
@willowMarsden i am jordan and i was diagnosed with aspergers 2 years ago, and ever since everything has made sense, i know only a male with aspergers but we dont really speak, but the plus side is that all my mates try to understand me and help out, but i usually dont speak unless either spoken too or feel comfortable with speaking, thanks for your blogs aye, it is nice to know that others understand xD
Good explanation. My girl, now 10, has had aspergers "signs"since a baby. She has been reading at a college level since 5 yrs old, but has problems to this day w/ buttons & zippers. Cannot ride a bike, but very good on a skateboard! This year it has gone off the charts-socially,- body changes (hormones). She gets along better w/ boys,- they are not drama, nor bitchy like the girls, that really hurt her feelings & cause stress. But, I love her for her "uniqueness". She is too cool!!! So are you!
you said something about there being more boys then girls with the conditon i saw an interview with tony atwood on here whare he was mentioning that due to the fact that females in general are better at hiding things about themselfs (not just aspies but all femaleas in general) and that due to the diagnosis usualy coming for females at a latter age then males his research is showing that the numbers are more like 2 to one insted of the previously thought 4 to one
You're awesome!<3<3<3 I love this video! I think you seem so wise! I have Asperger myself, but people always says "What's that?!" or maybe "Really? You seem so normal! How is it possible that you have it?", blabla. You are really amazing, it's wonderful to listen when people tells about their diagnoses! :) Sorry for my bad English, I was very underestimated in school by teachers, so I can't speak/write English as good as my age is supposed to. (I'm almost 21) But whatever, you are amazing!<3
i'm a 20 year old guy, and i first started noticing i was a bit different in late middle school/highschool. i did some research and came up with "like autism, but..." and i finally found asperger's syndrome. i put off getting a diagnosis until a few months ago. everyone kept telling me it was just my personality, but i knew my brain was processing things different. its frustrating when people tell you that. kinda random, but the notes your voice makes are nice, the pattern is nice.
I think I have Aspergers Syndrome. I have a group of friends and there are six of us although I can't understand what they are thinking and they know what I'm thinking just from what I do with my face. I never had friends when I was younger and I liked playing on my own and building castles from feathers and cities for ants. Now I'm more grown up even though I only turned 13 yesterday and I understand people a bit better although my friends helped me with that especially body language.
Sorry Willow im a guy but i guess my problem with aspergers is similar, I cant stand loud noise, i have my safe routine, im always the odd one in a group of teens because Im as mature as someone triple times my age, I grew mature at age 10 lol. However in school aspergers wasnt a bad thing because I was always friemdly and helpful, aswell the routine ment I always went to classes and did homework on time so it all worked out, but our biggest problem is definately socialising, I try to hang out
I think Asperger's has a different effect on girls. I hear a lot of girls have trouble being diagnosed because of that. It seems to show more in boys than in girls... I'm not much for being diagnosed, though... I think that if I understand Asperger's and I know for a fact in both my head and my heart that I have it, than opinions shouldn't matter. Plus, my mother doesn't understand and avoids the topic...
People know I'm different, though I try to hide it. But I can live with that.
I'm sixteen years old and I got diagnosed with Aspergers maybe 3 or 2 or 4 months ago and its still kinda running though my head like my brain is trying to process it still not to mention I've been in speical ed for most of my school life for a different problem and yet I never got diagnosed with it and I agree its because girls blend in and sometimes some people are just shy sometimes and I never even knew what aspergers was until last year
Hi! I'm a thirteen year old girl and i think i have aspergers... but there's no one else in my family who has mentioned it (even though my dad works with aspergers), and every aspie test I do shows negative... please answere this! :)
Effects of Aspergers can differentiate a lot among people. Gender has no role it seems. I agree that girls are under-diagnosed. Being considerate, I often make judgements based on someones characteristics. I've been recently diagnosed with Aspergers and turn 18 in July, so yeah, late diagnosis it seems. I know a girl my age who may be diagnosed in future but she might have gained traits to make diagnosis difficult. Seems there's more verbal input and structured output than expressive output.
as for females with autism... well, my older sister has not been diagnosed but she almost certainly has an ASD. Her behaviour is different from mine, but that could be due to a difference in schooling (public school vs homeschool) and/or upbringing (70s/80s vs 90s/00s). I don't think that there are many (if any) differences between genders that are related to the disorder.
as a guy with HFA, I agree that there are probably just as many girls with an ASD (autism spectrum disorder) as there are boys with an ASD. One reason why girls might not be diagnosed may have to do with the stereotyping: a girl that is less social is not particulary unusual because (in past times) girls were expected to be present but silent. Whereas a boy is expected to be loud and active (even violent). Therefore, ASDs in boys will be more easily spotted.... Does that even make sense? :p
I'm 16, a boy and has Aspergers syndrome ,i hate talking about it, to be honist i don't think i have it but i go along with what the so called "doctors" say about it, they say i have it so i agree with them :P i find it hard to tell if girls have aspergers, boys it's quite simple. But the traits of aspergers are quite stereotypical, i can kind of look people in the eye and fully understandwhat there saying. I just want to say that your a really pretty girl btw :)
It seems that people with Aspergers are often of above average intelligence.
It's likely that the girls who bullied you at school are considerably less intelligent than you are. Some humans seem to be more closely related to baboons than others and exhibit some very primitive forms of behaviour. Personally I don't consider them to be a valid part of the human race.
Anyway, I really admire your courage for coming on here and talking about this. I also happen to think you're gorgeous. :)
did you know the inventor of bittorent had it. plus h'es jewish. It says in the jewish religion I believe that the brains of jewish people are structered differently.. Which means they are smarter and considered not like everyone else supposedly. aspergers is highest in jewish people by far than any other religion. coincendance, I think not.
I don't think there has to be a lable for people. for example, when someone has adhd, do they start saying to everyone oh I have adhd and start making videos about it how they are not smart in school and fail. Why do people make a big deal out of aspergers for. You have your good sides and bad sides like everyone else.
hey I would like to tell you that all people on the spectrum have the same thing . And What I have noticed is that people with aspergers are actually sociable but it takes more time to think of what they have to say it's in there. Like people with aspergers talk great online.
Yep, it's me with another comment already. I saved this video to my favroites because I can really relate to some of what you said. Yeah I too have explained to others that my Aspergers is just how I am. What is normal? I think that word can have a lot of definitions. I also like routines and I also got bullied a lot in school. I also have had some of the same problems with socializing.
You are pretty. You remind me of Mememolly but you are better looking than her.
So when did I get diagnosed with Aspergers? I got diagnosed late. I was in 11th. grade so since I only had two more years of school they kept me in the same school that I was going to instead of sending me to whatever the special school would be. Do I know a girl with Aspergers? Unfortunately, no. It would be great if I did. I sometimes think my Aspergers negatively effects how I relate to them.
wow, its impressive how much similarities i see, its just like you are me... i felt exactly the same way. staying childish in puberty, no change, adapting superficially to the others, to just try to blend in. wow, im shocked haha.
Oh I'm a girl btw. Not yet diagnosed, but I saw an "expert" (for another reason) , she noticed my behaviour and she was quite shocked that i was still undiagnosed, so she will start testing me next week.
I was born in 1981 and less was known about Asperger's when I was your age. I like to believe that the younger you are, the better off you are. For instance, I have a relative who was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome at age 2; she was born in 2001 (20 years younger). When I was myself a teenager, I never in my life heard of the term. Whenever people talked about my quirkiness, they referred to me as someone who was "different" (for instance, "There's only one Mark."). I also got bullied a lot.
Lots of people I have spoken to are somewhat opinionated towards believing that females tend to make more attempts at explaining their behaviors than men. Some people believe that us guys tend to be too embarrassed to give long speeches about how Asperger's Syndrome effects our lives. For instance, that age-old bravado/stubbornness stereotype about men (example, how some guys hate to have other people see them crying). It might be our American pop culture: showing weakness--such as AS--is bad...
Higher funtioning autistics can be very aware that they are considered wierd and not normal. Teenagers are usualy not very subtle about comunucatung this. You woulnd't need to deduce it from nonverbal signals, it's very verbal. Autistics can fall in love. They do get married. She may not look like your idea ofsomebody on the spectru, but don't aume that you know from hearing her talk for a few minutes that you know what her life is like.
Both of my best friends have Aspergers, and are girls. The main difference between them and "normal" girls is that they're very self-centered. Not in an egocentric way, they're just very self-focused and seem to not realize when situations get awkward. Their social expressions are also very toned down, my other friends can sometimes wonder if they're always grumpy, but that's just the lack of expression they see. I think this is this is why people are provoked by girls with asperger, as yourself
You claim to not be normal, however you are one of the most "normal" girls iv ever seen!
Your simply a victim of bullying because you did not grow up as fast as others and liked different things. Liking different things and being "werid" is not a sign of autisum.
People who are autistic would not of even realised people treating them differently or would even care, you call your self werid. Logical thinking is a key element for someone with autisum, however you dont think in logic terms.
here's the kicker though, you said it's comparable to us trying to explain how we're normal but... there's no such thing as normal. none of us are normal, if anything you're just your own kind of different :)
Yeah I'm a girl with it and I had exactly the same thing at school, pretending to be like them but it didn't last very long then they started rejecting me and then started bullying me. I got diagnosed when I was 13, 14. I'm 15 now.
I'm a girl and I have Aspergers. I was previously on medication for anxiety and bipolar disorder, which did not help because that's not what I had. I view people like systems and try to model their behavior sociologically, but often they surprise me or I surprise them, because my model is incomplete. This leads to fights, losing friends, and a sense that everyone else is crazy . But learning about myself and modeling my own behavior in order to predict my feelings about things helps a lot.
Good vid. Your social part of your life when growing up sounds a lot like my own - and Im a guy. The copying/mimicking in the early years, then friends "growing" ahead of you when you get into your teens, and two years later you've still somehow developed "further" than them and become more adult. I've never came around a woman with aspergers, and I haven't seen many videos/blogs about it either. TheAnMish is the only female aspie I know about who've made several AS videos and posted on the net.
I'm a 16 year old bloke who was diagnosed with Aspergers at the age of ten... my parents thought there was something up with me because I only had one friend in a school of 80. I didn't seem to understand what people wanted out of me in social situations and to be honest I found a lot of normal people very, very boring... In short I had no motivation to make more friends!
i m a girl and i was like u told. i got diagnosed but i did not want the diagnose because i thought i was like downsyndrom. and i sayed: no i dont have that! i m not an authist! omg." i denied it. but what can i do. i dont like to talk to more than one person at a time and i get stressed by people everyday and have to take the publictrain to school. horrible. omg as a child? -my parents were wors than the mobbing classmates! in 3rd grade i wasactually popular but the other classes were bad.
Willow, did you self-diagnose yourself an aspie? I worked with many of them in a special summer camp, you remind me more of a Borderline Personality Disorder going through an Identity issue?
@lethomia No i'm officially diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome and a few other things, but not BPD, I think they ruled that out for some reason or another.
@WillowMarsden Hi Willow, I am the mother of a wonderful 13 year girl who's just been diagnosed with Asperger's. She is an amazing person with talent for piano, drawing (loves Manga), and is just now beginning to find herself in a group of friends for the first time. My concern, however, is that some people in our family don't believe she has Asperger's, they say she is just "immature" and make excuses as to why she does some things...any advice on how to explain it better to them?
@kaya4601 It is difficult, given time eventually they will understand. Show them videos of people with Asperger's that act similar to your daughter; give them information about it that highlights key things that your daughter does, maybe when they hear enough things and think 'that's just what ____does' they might change their mind. Also explain how she struggles with some things and say how proud you are that she overcomes them etc. Other than that, I'm not sure. My family took a while. Willow
@kaya4601 I'm a 44-year old woman with Asperger's. I want to encourage you because they'll tell you AS people have low success, can't hold down a job, etc. etc.. That doesn't have to be true. I am blessed to have a job where my boss accepts my shortcomings and focuses on my strengths, and I have had that job for 8 years. I just downloaded (kindle) what seems to be a REALLY good, encouraging book for girls with AS, called "Aspergirls: Empowering Females with AS" . Written by an aspie

@kaya4601 The biggest thing about AS is that they expect us to act "autistic" as if there was some stereotype! The worst problem with AS that it IS so subtle. We often appear just like NT's because we have learned to imitate -- but that is what it remains, to some degree: imitation only. The subtleties are lost on us and we inevitably pull some social foible that results in people assigning motives falsely, claiming "No one can be that smart AND that stupid" and think I'm being a smartass.
@lethomia I agree, there is no real signs of being autistic its more normal teenage ticks and growing up finding out who and what you are, having different moods and dealing with them. As its been hard for willow to deal with these changes as she has grown up shes been told she is autistic giving her a label of being all "different" and special so shes holding on to the idea of being autisutic. Yet she is "in love" and due to be married to a long term boyfriend - not the sign of someone autistic
hottest girl with AS i ever seen also if you don't mind im making a new account witch will be named IG3rk3 if you could add me that would be greatly appreciated
Good news about AS if you can't find a good job atleast you get SSI bad news about AS everything and also i really think she cute if she was in my town i would date her because it's so hard for me to get a girlfriend
I agree with you on sometimes it isn't your hormones. Everyone always told me I was acting "weird" because it was my hormones or the "teenage years". And sometimes it's not. I was diagnosed at 15 (still 15) and when the boys started to become more perverse and jerky, I didn't, like you, I stayed like a child. I was in a group of boys even though I was only friends with one of them, who invited me there but I lost them when the change occurred.
hi i'm 17 and i have asperger's. i haven't been diagnosed yet. i saw psychiatrists and one said i had an anxiety disorder and depression, the next said i had ADD and anxiety, and then when i learned about asperger's and asked if i have it the lady said i had bipolar disorder after 5 minutes of talking with me. my mom just got me an autism/asperger's specialist so hopefully all that ignorance is done. i can relate with almost everything in your videos.
I'm Male, I have Aspergers with other characteristics (ADHD). I was diagnosed at 17 while in sixth form after an "incident". I have never met another person male or female with Aspergers.
School - For me wasn't a positive experience. The work that was given was fairly easy. I'm Educated to degree level. However interacting with people was difficult and is even more so, to the point where I sometime don't interact with people for days.
Hey, I am an 15 year old girl, and I recognize myself in your story. When I was younger, I was always 'normal', I was in these groups at school, but now, they start going out to party's, drinking alcohol (just experimenting), but that is just not me. At school, I like being with one or two persons, and the others don't understand that. It's difficult for me to explain, but I just can't talk in bigger groups. I hope that there are others out there that feel the same as I do.
I am a 16 year old girl with aspergers. I really liked your video. I used to not have friends, i wouldnt know what to say at school, ppl thought i was weird. This year i finally got diagnosed with aspergers instead of just saying im shy. I started going to social groups for ppl with aspergers. I feel more accepted now. high school still sucks though. I dont understand neurotypcials at all and im alwaysconfused. I also get bullied. Most of my friends are iether from the group or ones i met online
You are lucky to be a woman with aspergers, at least you can go out and still find a mate. A guy with aspergers has about the same chance of finding a mate as a guy with down's syndrome. No chance, No hope. It should be called No-Ass-pergers, because for men, aspergers is a sentence to a lifetime of celibacy.
_____(How did this video end up in a search featuring evil clown-monsters?) ANYWAY, while I'm here, I might as well say something. You and your mate both have Aspergers? E-e-e-excellent... Now go forth and bear many young. That way, you can begin a master-race of intellectually superior humans to conquer this pathetic mud-ball of a planet. Goodness knows it could use some conquering, given how badly it's being wrecked.
@undesireable12321 You kidding? I'm a guy with Aspergers and most of my good friends are women, a few of whom are willing to have sex with me. Odd thing is, I'm not exactly a ladies' man, and I'm rather sexually reserved.
i know someone that was told has aspergers...who is angry alot...innapropriate in a sexual ways all the time...she is 22 years old...feels herself up in front of young boys...she has sex with women and men....she is completely out of control...i don't know what to think...
Is there a way you can give me some detail on what asperger girls do when doing homework or studying because I heard they get really focused on that particular thing when working
People with Aspergers are always very successful and always seem to be CEOs of companies. You are very much like a girl I know she is the sweetest girl I have ever met and not at all bitchy. She is Aspergers because a
i got really annoyed with doctors and hospitals, every specialist i saw said that there were signs of ASD (autistic spectrum disorder) but never fully diagnosed me but i finally got diagnosed last year with Aspergers syndrome. the woman that i saw said she believes i show signs of ADHD and autism but mainly aspergers. i am now receiving the help i need. i find your videos really encouraging I'm glad you have the kindness and confidence to upload them, many thanks.

06051988 1 month ago
I don't have that syndrome...but I just want to know how people feel about it because inside I can tell sometimes what's wrong with a person and this girl with it has feelings that were expressed when this other one attackexplained her syndrome to the class...she opened up in a way that proves that people with that syndrome can behave quite similar to those classified as "normal beings" I am a 16 year old and I learned more....

Im a 19year old guy with Asperger's and i was diagnosed between 2 and 3 years of age,the reason i think i was diagnosed early was because i was very hyper active and had high levels of energy all the time and most days i,d get up at 7am and not go to bed until 5am,which meant that i hardly ever slept.i also used to get very easily annoyed if people wound me up and diden,t like alarms. have you seen my channel page on facebook. its called The Aspergers Channel
william52905 2 months ago

Seems there's more verbal input and structured output than expressive output.

very interesting video, btw :p
as for females with autism... well, my older sister has not been diagnosed but she almost certainly has an ASD. Her behaviour is different from mine, but that could be due to a difference in schooling (public school vs homeschool) and/or upbringing (70s/80s vs 90s/00s). I don't think that there are many (if any) differences between genders that are related to the disorder.
TheGreatestChuck 10 months ago
as a guy with HFA, I agree that there are probably just as many girls with an ASD (autism spectrum disorder) as there are boys with an ASD. :p

Like people with aspergers talk great online.
mikouzi93 11 months ago
Yep, it's me with another comment already. I saved this video to my favroites because I can really relate to some of what you said. Yeah I too have explained to others that my Aspergers is just how I am. What is normal? I think that word can have a lot of definitions. I also like routines and I also got bullied a lot in school. I also have had some of the same problems with socializing.
LolaCrazy222 11 months ago

MarkSmithOnToYouTub7 1 year ago
Lots of people I have spoken to are somewhat opinionated towards believing that females tend to make more attempts at explaining their behaviors than men. Some people believe that us guys tend to be too embarrassed to give long speeches about how Asperger's Syndrome effects our lives. For instance, that age-old bravado/stubbornness stereotype about men (example, how some guys hate to have other people see them crying). It might be our American pop culture: showing weakness--such as AS--is bad...

This was a bit scary, You explained me and you acted and sounded like me. And no I don't have any diagnose.

I think this is this is why people are provoked by girls with asperger, as yourself
bambialbino 1 year ago
You claim to not be normal, however you are one of the most "normal" girls iv ever seen!
Your simply a victim of bullying because you did not grow up as fast as others and liked different things. Liking different things and being "werid" is not a sign of autisum.
People who are autistic would not of even realised people treating them differently or would even care, you call your self werid. Logical thinking is a key element for someone with autisum, however you dont think in logic terms.

here's the kicker though, you said it's comparable to us trying to explain how we're normal but... there's no such thing as normal. none of us are normal, if anything you're just your own kind of different :)
don't focus on your limitations.

@WillowMarsden Hi Willow, I am the mother of a wonderful 13 year girl who's just been diagnosed with Asperger's. She is an amazing person with talent for piano, drawing (loves Manga), and is just now beginning to find herself in a group of friends for the first time. My concern, however, is that some people in our family don't believe she has Asperger's, they say she is just "immature" and make excuses as to why she does some things...any advice on how to explain it better to them?
kaya4601 1 year ago

DisappearingDiva 8 months ago
@lethomia I agree, there is no real signs of being autistic its more normal teenage ticks and growing up finding out who and what you are, having different moods and dealing with them. As its been hard for willow to deal with these changes as she has grown up shes been told she is autistic giving her a label of being all "different" and special so shes holding on to the idea of being autisutic. Yet she is "in love" and due to be married to a long term boyfriend - not the sign of someone autistic
