Watched this movie a few days ago. It's diffrent from what I expected but I personally think it's a very very good movie. Enjoyed every minute of it and will definitely watch it again soon. I highly recommend it. :)
It's saddening that David Kross' name is not even stated on the trailer when he clearly plays lead. It's also saddening how he has been completely snubbed during the awards season. Sigh.

I love how much more serious and severe Winslet comes off in this film than anything else I've seen her do. I really must see this movie--it looks amazing.
The big question? Would you have got up and say that she couldn' t read in order to save her from prison? Would have gone against her decision not to let anyone know she could not read?God onky knows what is the right decision.
i read the book..ahh soo sad :( but really good, such a beautiful way to show how the generation that followed the nazis felt, how they disowned and condemned their own parents. and also the lengths people will go to to hide a secret, as Hanna did.

I was greatly affected by this movie...yet I still don't really understand what motivated Hanna Schmidt...Was she just evil? Intellectually deficient? Both? I suppose I will have to read the book now, for more insight...

Given the dual aspect of this film,the love story & the trial of Schmidt for war crimes it is possibly the best film of it's genre.Klass,the young boy,was absolutely amazing as the teen who involves himself with a woman more than twice his age.Winslet was so deserving of the Oscar.Possibly her finest performance.I'd have trouble understanding why anyone wouldn't find this film watchable.Maybe those who're just into car-chases & scantily clad teens with huge,fake tits,lol.Everyone should watch it

@mitcho1994, I found it very moving and engrossing into the state of mind of the Nazi Period. She did that film along with Revolutionary Road after this one, she has certainly graduated from Titanic.

I just love this movie, the best I've ever seen. It shows us the reality of people with illiteracy, and other things that makes us think all what we do in life. As we make hasty, what did Hanna. With this film I learned quite a lot about how most people understand, not judge the next!
My friends and I watched this movie last night, after it ended, we just sat in silence for a good five minutes, until the credits had rolled completely, just staring at the screen. We were so overcome by this movie. It was brilliant but so, so sad.

@goodgirlkay we read the book in german class and i must admit, at first it seemed to be going in the direction of some underage erotic novel, but apparently the book has a pretty amazing story behind it. the reason she went to work at that concentration camp is because she was illiterate. she used to work as a ticket person on trams, but as they offered her a higher position, she was really scared of people finding out that she is illiterate, so she flead her town and went to work there.

Given the dual aspect of this film,the love story & the trial of Schmidt for war crimes it is possibly the best film of it's genre.Klass,the young boy,was absolutely amazing as the teen who involves himself with a woman more than twice his age.Winslet was so deserving of the Oscar.Possibly her finest performance.I'd have trouble understanding why anyone wouldn't find this film watchable.Maybe those who're just into car-chases & scantily clad teens with huge,fake tits,lol.Everyone should watch it
