The reason there isn't a "load" option mid-game is because there's never a need to load, NEVER. If you want to restart a checkpoint just kill yourself, there's plenty of ways to do that. Otherwise, the load functionality should only be used when you're about to start a fresh session of gaming.

It's hilarious that he treats this like a modern-era game, in which you revert back to your save when you die, or may want to recover progress you lost. This is back when the save feature was used only as a save-and-quit, for when you're finished playing for the day. That or before boss fights if you're aiming for Big Boss rank on European Extreme. :) Seeing him save before every corner like this is Skyrim or something is hilarious.

Believe it or not this game is actually very easy, provided your patient and don't try to run through it the whole damn time. This is the type of game where sneaking and avoiding combat, excluding boss fights of course, is the ideal and preferred way to play, which I find extremely fun. And if you think this game is hard Phil, wait till you play MGS 3, where you pretty much have to sneak THE ENTIRE TIME.
