  • How Sad... I actually remember this.

  • lmao i remeber all the juicy fruit ads wow im laughing im crying:)

  • I still sing this song anytime someone says "juicy" and I mean anytime!

  • 0:16 I think I just lost my virginity...

  • what does waterskiing. have to do with GUM?

  • Not many commercials can literally cause young boys to hit adolescence, but when I was growing up and saw the woman in the purple swimsuit pull her shirt off, I had officially become a man, as did many guys from that generation.

  • Looks like an intro to Baywatch

  • Cute song. I like the one that starts with a roller coaster better, though.

  • 0:04 I still remember those hot boobs from when I was 8 years old!

  • Wow....every person in this commercial is now in their 50's and most likely, not water skiing anymore!

  • @Brine1206 not true it is only the 80s but close i guess some are maybe 50s i guess

  • This is '81? I would have though a few years later.

  • Look at the guy at 23sec sweet trick!!!! Is that Gary Burns???

  • lol they made fun of this on family guy

  • I remember this one! I was a 13 year old boy back then and I remember seeing that woman taking off her sweatshirt and thinking "tits are pretty cool"

  • god dammit f5 wont work

  • @TheNineinchsnails

They know what's up thanks to the 50 million people who kept posting "Use f5 to skip the ads."

Come on. How long did you think they'd let us get away with that?

  • @donniedarkodevotte it was a joke caue the commercial was the video...get it....actually dont use f5 i use adblocker

  • @donniedarkodevotte the 0:00 trick would always work 0_o

  • 0:08 the guy looks so stupid when he puts it in his mouth lol

  • hahahaha, family guy is hilarious

  • This commercial is ingenious on a lot of levels. Pay particular attention to these lyrics: "Grab a stick, pull it out." If you were to break this down into sound "phonemes" and re-translate into written English, you would get "Grab HIS DICK, pull it out." Yes, the gum curving into a phallic shape as they "pop it in" their mouths is suggestive, but they underscore this with the lyrics. I wonder how much more gum they sold by insinuating that chewing it would get you more sex?!

  • Like anyone gets that excited about chewing gum.. ahh only in the 80's :)

  • Ive wanted to see more of those "Juicyfriuts" at 0:04 for over 20 years now. lol

  • 80's sweater kittens, mmmm.

  • Dang, ALL THAT HOOPLAH FOR ONE FRIGGEN PEICE OF GUM????? Dang commercials were something back then!

  • @navyman4 Sounds like a lot of hooplah to make over a little piece of gum, right? Hahahaha--WRONG!!!

  • Mentos commercial is better

  • COMMERCIALS BACK THEN WERE AWESOME!

  • I like when the chick with the big tits takes her shirt off in slo-mo........just wish she would "take a sniff......pull it out......taste is gonna move her when I pop it in her mouth" ;-)

  • @Hunkola ur funny lmoa!

  • @Hunkola ur funny lmoa!

  • I remember this commercial!

BTW, The young lady enjoying a piece of gum at 0:14 is Traylor Howard (Natalie Teeger from the TV series Monk).

  • Yeah

  • What the fuck?

  • This should be on the Return of the Jedi Family Guy when they are on Tatooine.

  • Something something something dark side

    lol

  • Only,.... and I repeat again - ONLY THE IMBECILE would buy this gum after such STUPID commercial.

  • @siroma80 dude after watching this on youtube i walked down to the local store and bought juicy fruit. The advert got me!

  • vidman1976, I noticed that too. At first I was questioing that it was a 1981 ad, thinking the jingle couldn't possibly have been used for so long. But when you hear the ending, its like...oh ya.

I'm assuming the 1976 in your name is the year you were born, which makes us the same age, so 1981 would've been a little fuzzy yet.

  • Who knew chewing gum with your friends could be so fun?

I beileve these commercials are the reason we all fold the stick of gum on our tongues when we "pop it in our mouths." It's such a distinctive, elegant way to put a stcik of gum in your mouth, when it would make more sense to bite down on the piece to cut it in half, so to speak. But these commercials just made us all do the "folding" thing to look sexy like these 80s folks!

  • This was my favorite commercial song as a kid!..... and it still is.

  • oh and the gum it's self is just as good!

  • In this version the sing "gonna" 3 times, but in the snow skiing version, the sing "the taste" 3 times.

  • I had not seen this commercial in well over twenty years, but at the 2 second mark I remembered what was to come at 0:04. That rack made a huge impression on me:)

  • bloody oath it has, i soooo didnt take notice of that ad as i was only into the jingle, but now that you bought it up and seeing her take that shirt of..........oh god damn :) we had sum real lookers back in the 80s havnt we? we need THAT

  • WOW! I I remember this commercial. I was just a young lad.

  • Holy fucjk I actually remember this song and I even have it on a tape somewhere too lol!

  • family guy star wars special

  • the 4 to 5 second mark is why I remember this video as a kid. I do think the date on this commercail is wrong though because I would have been 7 when it aired and I don't think at 7 I would have remembered boobs.

  • Great memories think alike. RACK EM.

  • what a bunch of 'hot dogs'! LOL.

  • I still don't get the sexual suggestions here since they're fully clothed and water skiing, and since the song has a country beat to it, but I guess if you haven't sucked the big one in a long time, everything can be interpreted sexually. I just took 2 loads today, and I wish they tasted like juicy fruit instead of rancid seawater mixed with bleach and pancake syrup like these guys. But shoving it down your throat and making it coat your tonsils generally helps because you never taste it.

  • "pop it in your mouth" as the girl does it.man, its almost porn.

  • Didnt the FCC pull this ad because it was too sexually suggestive:

" Pull it up......take it out.......the taste is gonna move ya when ya pop it in your mouth "

DAMN.......sounds like a chick getting ready to suck a cock !!!!

  • 0:05-nice cans!!!

  • Agreed!

  • WOW!!

    I remember this!!!

    JB

  • HAHAHA!!!pull it up, pull it out, the taste is going to move you when you pop it in your mouth???? Subliminal sexual messages?? Goes right through you? Hahaha...

  • @Redifin nothing subliminal about that....

  • @Redifin Tommy Davidson much?

  • You'd think they'd choke on their gum while waterskiing.

  • *insert horrible gaging noises here*

  • that looks like fun -- would be funny to see the same actors try to re-shoot the same commercial now.

  • Great waterskiing TV spot! What year was this on TV? I am looking for a 16mm print of this commercial. HM, highway cinema

  • The heading says 1981, but I think that's a mistake. It looks later to me. Commercials simply weren't that advanced in 1981.

  • I am amazed that they had electricity back in 1981 in order to make this commercial!!!

  • the 80s' weren't the stone age...of course the 80s had electricity

  • Ahh, the inability to recognise sarcasm!! I was commenting on rtghffdfdg's rather strange commment.

  • Hey, it wasn't strange--it was correct. I know my 80s.

  • It was 1983

  • Thank you--I just knew it wasn't '81--it looked way too new. Interestingly, though, I would have guessed '85.

  • This is probably the reason why it ran for so long-- it had such lasting appeal. I remember seeing this pop up from time to time, years later: well past the mid-eighties, when I was in high school.

  • Yeah, Juicy fruit had some really catchy commercials--I remember the lyrics to the song too, even after over 20 years.

  • That commercial received heavy play; I saw it 10,000 times. Funny how I didn't even know it was for Juicyfruit, looks more like an old Sunkist ad.

  • I remember watching this commercial version...I think it was the best one (energetic and fun) out of all the Juicy Fruit series. Heck I'd buy a pack after watching this! :)

  • Every one of the people in that commercial smoked Newports and drank Miller High Life. You know they did.

  • The 1980s were so much better than today. Kids talked normally, and didn't pretend they were black. No god awful rap or 'hip hop' music...

  • I don't know about that... didn't the Valley Girl phase change the vocabulary of the 80s? And rap and hip hop both definitely existed in a slightly different form.

I think what's change is our perception of those days...

  • Gag me with a spoon, fer sure, totally! Yep, we were the future of America!

  • every young generation on in their teens and twenties think they are going tot ake over america. But the truth is the only ones who take over are the rich. Everyone else, the things they like, get swept asside so the entire money marketing machine can start all over again.

  • ofcourse the rich are the ones who take over, that is a tautology.

But clearly "the rich" of the 1950's are not "the rich" of 2009, thus the drastic difference in the popular culture of the two eras.

  • So those were normal kids that spoke "normal?" What made them so "normal?" Was it because they weren't black? Or was it because there was no "god awful rap or hip hop music?" Or both. Just curious.

  • As a black person I' like to mention that curtis blow and africabambata, began alot of the rap movement in the late 70's. Secondly, i love how peole think black people didnt emerge on earth until the 1990's/ We been here since the beginning and we aint goin nowhere my white brother.

  • Are you even old enough to remember the 80's? Apparently not if you think there was no Rap.

  • and did even gum commercial's were a bit risque! did you see that woman take off her shirt at the beginning and it totally was focused on her chest instead of her face

  • are you complaining?

  • No rap music in the 80's?

Hmm, you could have fooled me

    watch?v=_DLytKTOpfY

and this is a pretty mainstream platform too.

  • Was that Run Dmc?

  • @Davez621 Hear Hear! I totally agree with you on all counts.

  • @Davez621 yeah, this was when it was "OK" to be white.

  • @Davez621

there most definitely WAS rap in the 80's

in fact, some of the best rap songs from grandmaster flash, run dmc, etc. came from the 80s!

  • @Davez621 They didn't pretend they were black, but they pretended to be gay.

  • @Davez621 and you were allowed to go to your Klan meetings freely.

  • @escobar98 Klan? That's a retarded comment.

  • @Davez621 Will rap and hip hop music is indeed terrible these days. But you know that rap and hip hop came about in the 80s and back then it wasn't bad. Of course, it did become terrible as years went by.

  • @Davez621 Truer words were never spoken. I've said same thing about movies from the 80's.

  • @Davez621 SHAME on ya !! Whitey is the Devil !!!!

  • @Davez621 racist fuck. you probably piss on your own nuts you little dick having white faggot

  • @Davez621 Do i hear a bit of anti.brown people in your words :P Have a great time and your Jesus camp and your kkk get together !!

  • @CrusaderKarl Not me!! I LOVE the shitskind people !!!

  • @CrusaderKarl Right on dude!! Be ASHAMED to be WHITE in 2012 !!

  • Comment removed

  • @Davez621 Look what you got started here! I'm not the bigest fan of rap music and ebonics myself, .. but, really, what did it have to do with this comercial here, huh ?

  • @Davez621 Those were the days...

How did we go from Adam Ant to... Well this?!

  • They must have rebroadcast this ad for a while cause I was barely born then but I remember this commercial completely! Good times, lol.

  • One of the most Nostalgic commercials! Lovin it!

  • this was always my fave..i'd b watching it with a girlfriend and she'd suddenly got all horny..

  • that's hot! Hey, whatever floats your boat...!

  • think about it.......take a stick....pull it out...the taste is gonna move you when u pop it in your mouth....have a good night ladies

  • When I think of gum...

I always think of waterskiing ...

    I mean who doesn't?

  • does anyone remember the gum commercial....i believe was juicy fruit from the 70's....where they pick the gum off tree????

  • Bring it back

  • WOW DAMN MAN

  • rockinest 30 second jingle ever.

  • Holy Shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I havent seen this in YEARS and I was able to sing along with it the first time!

  • I remember when I was little, trying to push the stick of gum into my mouth like they do and I choked on it :D

  • Cooooooool clothes. :P

  • I'm 27 years old and remember singing this commercial as a kid in the 80's! Thank you for posting this, what a nostalgic trip that was!

  • yeah...I remember it saying "the taste the taste the taste is gonna move yaaaa." They must've shown this commercial for many years cause I was born in 1980 and remember this commercial!

  • I so clearly remember this commercial! They don't make catchy jingles like that anymore!

  • OMG I remember the original lyric said "The taste is gonna gonna gonna move ya!" This is AWESOME!

  • WOW,it's been a long time since i have heard that song, they called it juicy fruit but it was more like a spoonful of sugar, takes me back to better time's

  • Yeah I agree with a couple of people...I remember the one from the early 90's as well...

  • Any Lyrics is good enough for me, the music fits right in & brings back its original flavor in both Music & Gum. This video brings back warm hearted memories & makes me wanna cry happy tears. I love juicy Fruit.

    Juicy Fruit Forever!!

  • This song stuck around for a while because I remember this song on a commercial in the early 90's.

  • i Used to find the girls popping the gum in their mouths kinky..even at a young age at the time

  • remember the breasts too! wierd how that sticks for so many yeas! remember we had to bend the gum as we put it in our mouth. the 80's was crazy

  • The one I remember was from around 1990-91, which featured a bunch of skiiers.

  • Didn't they have a local Australian version of this ad at some point? I remember growing up in the 80s, the tune was very familiar to me even though I only ocassionally visited the US. I think our version was slightly different... it might have gone "Juicy Fruit will get you goin'" ?

  • Pure joy at 00:04. I remember seeing this at like six and realizing that breasts were so pivotal to my world.

  • No shit, RetroBoy. Double-Ds ftw :D

  • Thanks for posting this version.

  • I think this one is later than 1981 I remember seeing it around 1988

  • dang dats old

  • 1986 or 87 FOR this jingle gem!!

  • This ad differs in that the lyrics don't contain the line "take a sniff, pull it out". I think it's because this one's slightly older.

  • I remember a biking one they showed in the 90s that had a third variant (I think, don't quote please) of the lyrics at that point.
