In my eyes the best DJ i ever heard not because of the competitions, but what he used to do live in the Drome years later the guy was a magician and he had the best taste in music ever.I have listned to countless DJ's for over a decade later and none come close.
I saw him so many times in the Drome. He rarely fucked up. I had all his Mr Magic tapes too. Vols one to three. Quality dj, although he was a bit of cock.
Just goes to show, when you're a white lad in a black lads competition (at the time) no matter how good your set it you aren't gonna win. he's pissed the finals in easy and came 3rd. The guy never had headphones and scratched & transformed the arse of the rest of the finalists ... he won it clean in my eyes.
Ken larson was using no headphones in 87 & chad jackson & cj were champs in 1987
standards were high so djs travelled to different regions to get a fair chance of reaching the semi finals.
I saw trix win in bham & i know hes not local
Dj's may have had local support & audiences may have been harder to please in the london finals but trix never won according to the judges & thats fair.& not racial...
