Oh and I forgot he is still using the bioballs...Whats your nitrate look like and how often do you do a water change...Quit listening to your LFS dude.
Wow ok..So you wait 1 hr before you transfer the new water in your tank? You mixed water should at the least set with circulation for 12 to 24hrs...Plus the temp of the water needs to be the same as the tank...And also get rid of the live rock in the back..get a intake filter box put foam pad/chempure /purigen..this goes into the second chamber...then in the first chamber put a nano protien skimmer..Lots on the market...Also have you upgraded the return pump yet? need to do that too...
ur fucking stupid bro, first of all its a half cup of salt per gallon so ur about a cup and a half short for that 5 gallons. and dont dump the water streight in the tank its stressful for the corals. try researching befor you get a tank stupid ass.
@06GixxerGeorge600 Researching on youtube is really pointless so many just poor it in the tank and say its ok or pour it in the filter and say its ok I dont really know which way is better.
@frankster262 I know he should of so he would not shock the fuck out of the tank then again Who knows what is best way to do it so many say this and that is better.
do not buy bioballs take the bioballs out now!!!... they hold waste from the tank... take out the bioballs and put in rubble rock in the back and remove the regular carbon filter to the more natural filtration the better...
Very nice, I'm sure alot of people appreciate the time you took to make this video...at least I do. Thanks because I'm researching to do this exact setup. Used to have a 200 gal. saltwater tank, now fresh but looking to downsize.
no reason to put liverock in the middle chamber.....there makes no different if you it back there when you could just add chaeto and put all your LR filtration in your DT. if you had a sump then it would be beneficial.
Thanks for showing us your set up Im very jealous. Soon as the Tax man gives me my money back Im getting a Bio Qube. Im wondering how hard it is to keep these babies cool. Whats your temp at in the morning and what does it get up to by the time your lights kick off?
hi i just buy 29 bio cube they have 3 light please tell me what different and how many hours i need to witch on and can i turn on and off many time aday thank you for your help
I don't have a bio cube, but I run my actinics from 7am-9am then run the 50/50's with the actinics from 9am-7pm then just actinics again from 7pm-9pm, I then just leave the LED moonlights on overnight. It works best if you get a powerstrip with a timer on it so it can be hands off. This is the best way to simulate a day cycle for your reef/fish though.
take out the bio balls. Put litle live rocks. And put the new water in the tank with tha same pump man..!!! it is stupid what you do with the bucket...you have the pump,,lol
hey , do you have a protein skimmer running in that? also do you ever need to use a syphon to clean the coral sands at the bottom of the tank? or do you just do a water change and nothing else?
hey dude also do u use tongs when u move ur coral and live rock........u have a freaking ausome tank im gettin the same one in march but in one of ur other vids that im new to this and if u would please help me through youtube from scratch so thinks dude
what do the bio balls do! and is that in the back of the tank like the filter part or did u just stick ur hand in the part with the coral and stuff dude im new to this so i dont really know
How do you like the Bio-Cube? I have an eclipse 12 gallon for my two clowns, but I hate it. The hood and filter combo makes it very hard to get to the tank (and the filter has had the impeller replaced twice in one year). I have to lift off the entire hood to get to the tank. Its a good tank except for the hood...and I usually really like Marineland.
yea its a great tank, my friend has one and I have a aqua-pod, its the same thing except for a diff. brand. But I like the bio-cube more, id get one if i were you
I did end up buying one actually, and I LOVE IT! I have a question (for anyone), is there a point to putting in the bio balls even though its a salt water tank with live rock?
cool, what size did you get, no the bio balls are pretty much LR except not as good, but if you have them ans LR you get a bit better biological filtration, in my aqaupod I have bio-balls in my filter, and LR in the display area, but its totally up to you,
I got the 29 gallon. Right now I am trying to find something to put it on. I don't want to pay $180.00 for the stand but I may have to, its such a weird shape I can't find a table to sit it on that would hold it. :(
cool, when did you get it, yea I have a 12g I put it on my dresser, but I dont know if a dresser can hold a 29g tank, w/sand, and rock. Unless its really big.
you should consider using a heater while you are mixing the water. it minimizes temp changes when pouring into the tank. Also, do you have an auto-topoff? smaller tank like this will consume water and I would figure out an easy way to provide fresh water.
i am thinking about getting a biocube and i was wondering do you put the live rocks and sand in right away or do you have to wait to put that stuff in?
its just one of those mysteries that we will never know.
by the way, if the water evaporated from my fish tank, will I still have to put salt in the refill water or just normal water since the salt is not evaporated with the water.??
What kind of power head did you use to remove the dirty salt to the sink? can I use any kind of power head to remove the dirty saltwater into the sink? what kind of power did you use to mix the freshwater into saltwater? can I use any kind of power head to mix the freshwater into saltwater? please send
hello! great tank...good idea to start doing more water changes..lol welll anyways. your skimmer, how long did it take to start producing tea colored water in the collection cup? and how high do you have the bubbles is coming out of the chamber. thanks bye
I would suggest going to your local library and checking out "The Complete Idiot's Guide To Saltwater Aquariums" that's what I used to get started, but nothing can really teach you like trial and error once you get going.
hey this will be my first salt-water tank i have already done lots of research on it. Do you think i should get a 14g biocube or a 29g.(Please Respond)
Its really up to you. I started with a 25 gallon tank and then moved up and got my 29 biocube. Its gonna be just about the same upkeep. Its up to how much you want to pay really.
Well it depends on what size you get. for a 29 gallon like mine the oceanic is the leading contender on price. There is a 34 Gallon Red Sea Max, but that one is a about $700. But its bad ass. It has the protein skimmer and water heater built into the filtration area and there is only one cord that plugs into the wall, but you pay for what you get right! Smaller cubes like 24 gallon or 12 gallons are a lot cheaper. I think 12's run for about 130-170. It just depends on what brand.
Ya I do, it just takes longer and I didnt want to have a long video which most of it would be watching the water level rise using the pump. That would be boring.
HI great info for biocube users!!! Is there a way to turn down the water outflow nozzle to slow down the water movement in the tank? We cannot find a way on our 29gal. Thanks for all the great videos! nice tank!
What is the stability of the temperature of the room the tank is in vs the stability of the temperature of the water in the tank? Also, what temp. do you keep it at? I'm trying to do as much research as I can before I invest in salt water tanks, and I am trying to figure out whether or not the tank would go well in my room, which tends to be hotter than the rest of the house.
Well I usually have the air at room temp. I keep the water heater at 79. Which the ideal temp for a salt water tank is between 78-82. If I were you, I would keep the temp for your tank at 78 or even 77 since your room seems to be hotter, but it shouldnt make too much of a difference so you could just keep it at 78.
Well, the problem I have with this is that by "hotter than the rest of the house" I mean upwards of 85 degrees in the summer. I think I'll have to do some tests to determine whether or not my room would be a suitable location.
what kind of skimmer do you have in the back of your tank? i just bought a fission small protein skimmer and having issues placeing it in my tank since i have a lid on it. What is the model and name of yours so i can see if that one will be one i can get.
ya no prob. I have an Oceanic Protein Skimmer. The same brand as my tank. My tank is an 29 Gallon Oceanic BioCube. Mine was made for my tank, but it is pretty small and should fit in most tanks. I got mine on ebay for $30 US dollars.
SO I can use the powerhead to misk the salt and freshwater to make it salty for 1 hour? what kind of clownfish and anemones fish you have plus saltwaterfish in your 29 gallon biocube?
Yes you can. I have an Ocellaris clown fish. Not a Percula. You can tell by the black lines around the white. On an Ocellaris they are much thicker and darker. The orange is also not as bright on an Ocellaris as it is on a Percula. I have a bulb tip anemone. My clown fish hosted it immediatley.
Oh ya i forgot my fish. I also have some new fish now, but they will be in my next video. I have a 1 yellow tail tamsel, 2 three stripe damsels, 1 flamehawk, and 1 very small blue hippo tang.
It is my water pump in the blue trash can that is mixing the fresh water with my salt. Its also the same pump when I am taking out teh water in the tank.
you my friend are sexxxy :D

This use to be a good idea dude..but now people use sumps...At most sumps
DO NOT have liverock added to it..Iam pretty sure just about everyone at
Nanoreef.com will advise you to take the live rock out of the back...And
Iam also pretty sure most people allow the mixed water to set for
12-24hrs...this is to make sure all salt has dissolved...the salt i use
technically does not need that long to dissolve...
Iam not sure where you get most of your info...either the LFS but even
people at Reef

No its the regular lighting and no hinges either. I just stand the top up on the tank and lean it against the wall.

It is my water pump in the blue trash can that is mixing the fresh water with my salt. Its also the same pump when I am taking out teh water in the tank.
