FYI...the first recording was by the Liverpool Five in 1966. Their wild sex parties are legendry in parts of the US and many fans of theirs got to ride the snake,. Check out their original version recently posted on Yu Tube
@Roxsox221 that Liverpool Five version fully emphasizes the phallic connotion of Oscar Brown's sexy lyrics. Reminds me a little of how the fantastic Coasters would have done it. Al Wilson did a fine job but it's an almost carbon copy of Oscar's original recorded a few years earlier.
Oh yes yes yes, i'm so glad i finally found this. I heard it the first time on that Lambrini advert and just think wow. It's a fun song with a lot of funk and jive, i can't stop my hips LOL!. I think (listening to the song fully) the song is a innuendo about his "snake" and her "taking it in" ...or maybe that's just my filthy mind but my mind instantly
This songs got nowt to do wit politic if owt its trust and probably has something to do with some mens attitudes to women, being nice at first and then turning out to be beaters either that or religious (Adam and Eve sorta thing) but politics whoever started that was looking for an argument
@madmanninc I agree. I believe it is about one of those situations wehre the woman was fooled into believing "If I love him enough then I can save him from (drugs, money, being an a-hole, etc.)" Having seen some of my best female friends go through this I know it happens just like this, and when "the snake bites" they are always shocked.
fuckin A! imagine some cunt waiting for your every move online! But, but, but, but, but get fucked you cock! 2 bags of fried rice and prawn crap! Oh my!
If you didn't care, you wouldn't bother answering! I do it all the time, it's easy. The retard steps over there, just under the Dunces step, and 3 paces left of the spaz's sea-saw. Sick of this song now. Later.
Also I am not a loonie. And I see far less poison on my side of the fence than on the left. I have seen small evidence of Obama and company making any effort to be nice to those on my side.
If I disagree with policies, so far this is still a free country and I am allowed to say so. That has nothing to do with being not nice.
Just consider the venom against Bush and it is easy to tell where poisonousness resides.
The snake reference I got from the song, and if you paid attention you would understand that Obama is not the snake In my reference. Amadinajab is the snake.
My point was that it is naive to believe a snake is reasonable or wants to be on your side.
Reminds me of Obama and Amadinajab and lots of others like him.
You can try to be nice to a snake, but snakes will be snakes. Poisonous ones should be seen to be what they are and treated accordingly. It does no good to be good natured to a snake. I wish they'd learn that in Washington and on the left.
If you're going to reference specific individuals at least spell their name correctly. 'Ahmadinejad' for the record. Anyhow objectivity is oft skewed depending on which side of the fence you are. America is not the world's Policeman. Obama would be advised to put his own house in order before trying to put the world to rights.
Not having the time or patience to sift through pages of comments, I can only shake my head and wonder how in God's blue name this video spawned a political debate of any sort.
I've done this soooooo many times :( I do have a tender heart and I've been a fool!

This song was on an Oscar Brown, Jr. album that came out in the vicinity of 1968, so Wikipedia might have gotten one right.

the only date i know about this song is 1993's winter, when rock'n'roll opened it's door to me.
there was this small band in a bar with live music in Thessaloniki, who opened it's show every night with this very song.
i went to this bar many times and this is because i fell in love with "the snake" from the first time i've heard it.
it's a pity i don't remember the name of the band or the name of the -bit fat- restless singer who supported the song very decently.
