Now, THIS is a really refreshing change. Relaxed, loose, improvisational, interesting and all very natural. Very very nice playing....and I love your sense of humor and feel for the music. Definitely the best Rush "cover" I've seen. Good to see a Peart-fan who plays relaxed and without the shoulder tension that alot of drummers have picked up from watching Neil. Bravo!
I found this because we have the same last name - but I'm Doug and your Dave - that's where the comparisons stop - I bow down to your skills brother! Very cool! I always wanted to play and instrument in life but I went into comedy instead! Bravo Goodrich!
man i have watched about 10 of these covers even though you add different fills by far the best best sense of natural drumming ...well besides Mr Peart. But never the less ,very good
I share this video with all my friends and family cause its just 1 of the best drum cover of subdivision...I can really see the passion in this mans skills! Bravo! Bro.
I would really love to see this in High Def! I know this is probably not the place...But....Am I the only one who loves the possibility of Mike Portnoy playing with Avenge SevenFold? What do you think Dave?
Portnoy is a great drummer, but alot of his fantastic sound and style comes from close mic-ing, strong sound systems and studio production, tight hitting, small stix, etc. Not my cup of tea. I think AVF will be a good challenge for him. I think he left DT and is already in the AVF band. Rock on Jim!
I really dig the ride / double kick / hi hat accents on the chorus! sweet kit, I love the 3 chinas. you in a band? post a link to your site if you are!
Just want to say... you're a genius. I favourited the video a long time ago and, after several months, it still amases me. Thank you for the inspiration. Really, I wish I played like you. Cheers !

hey Dave...2 questions: has anyone from Rush ever commented on this video and 2: is there anything about this video you wish you had done differently?? thanks buddy!
(1) I think they have better things to do then watch my corny videos.... LOL! However, I have met and spoken with Neil, but it was before" the age of youtube." (2) Something new always pops out everytime I sit down and play this song. I think that is the fun about freestyle playing... .:)
Yes, I loved the sound of them. But, I broke them easy. I normally play Zildjian or Sabian. I miss my Alchemys tho. Now I practice with WuHon. Thanks!
Dude, awesome. I bet Neil would appreciate your take on Subdivisions. This is a nice homage to the song and his writing of the drum part. You have very impressive skills!
Was listening to VH1 Classics when I heard this for the first time, and was looking for the remixes. This would be killer for the"Tour Version." I absolutely love your version.
I've been a Rush "Neil Peart" fan the last 20+ years and I love your version of the drum part for this great song! Being a drummer myself, there are a few of your fills I would like to borrow for the next time I play the song! Great work! Also, the drums sound really crisp through the PA system. Looking forward to another vid sometime. Keep rocking!
bro, i had posted once a comment that said you are a fuckin great drummer... and as i watch this vid again and again, i'm like ....totally blown away bro :D you are a really cool drummer

DKGoodrich 2 years ago
Great job man, but my only criticism, as it is a RUSH song, it's already a "technical' song, you may be overplaying it a tad.
deldine70 2 years ago
No disrespect, but I get a kick out someone saying it was a bit too techical. That is like saying back in the day, Pam Anderson's boobs were "Too perfect", or you gave me "Too much money". Simply does not compute. I think he did a masterful job!

i like your playing, style, even though it didn't really fit with the song.

Dear God! I think Neil Peart has just met his match!!!! If he did something like this at a concert I think a riot would break out! From 5:03 to the end you are rocking the f-out!

Thanks! Very nice of you but I'm NO match for Neil. He is a legend... and I'm just an fan of his, who failed to ever get anywhere with my playing.
Thanks again.
