It seems to me that out of the paranormal trio, Nagato is the least enigmatic. Asahina is completely unable to reveal details, so her past is shrouded in mystery. And Koizumi is Koizumi. We don't know where his truths end and his lies start.
But Nagato is actually pretty understandable. She has no past, being only 3 years old. And her mission is simply to observe. But watching her develop into a true human is what makes Yuki so charming. It gives us hope that she can grow out of her given role.
Mentally speaking, Nagato may have lived through 500+ years. But if its all the same two weeks, with minimal deviations, can you really say that it's 500+ years? If it were different experiences, then that would be one thing. But really, she has 500+ years of the same two weeks.

Minori Chihara's voice is incredible. All of the voice actors can sing extremely well. Even when Goto Yuko sings in character (although purposely horrible in the adventures of Mikuru Asahina it was fucking cute) she manages to sing amazingly.
Actually the song makes perfect sense if you've seen the movie too. But otherwise, I'd see why others would be confused. It's such a pretty song! Thanks for putting this up!
@OfNaught: After movie I'm positive she will. Also don't forget that she saved Kyon not only because of Haruhis sake, but because she wanted to. In the one episode where only Kyon and Haruhi are in closed space she also "wants him individually to return". MOVIESPOILER: She even went so far as to create a whole parallel world so Kyon could live a quite live - with her.
Yuki has always been a big part in the action, whether it was saving kyon or fighting those monster things that i can't remember about. She was a great help to the others and- i knew knew till now- she's my favorite character. She's smart, useful at times, fast at a computer, can do a lot of cool things, and really makes me want to read the novels.
Poor Yuki... She loves Kyon, but she hasn't developed enough emotions to truly understand her feelings, and she keeps telling herself that these emotions are errors and that they interfere with her mission.
At first glance, Yuki seems like any other stoic anime girl, but when I listen to these songs and her emotions coming through I just love her. <3 Best anime character ever, in my opinion. :)

@MentalMaladies then you MUST watch the anime! i think that for you since you're starting out, check out wikipedia for the chronological order of the episodes because the episodes are broadcast out of order, so it would confusing if you trying watching it the regular order, so you have to figure out the order of the episodes so that it all makes sense. it may be a little more work, but trust me, it's worth it. ;-)

Yuki has always been a big part in the action, whether it was saving kyon or fighting those monster things that i can't remember about. She was a great help to the others and- i knew knew till now- she's my favorite character. She's smart, useful at times, fast at a computer, can do a lot of cool things, and really makes me want to read the novels.

@MentalMaladies then you MUST watch the anime! i think that for you since you're starting out, check out wikipedia for the chronological order of the episodes because the episodes are broadcast out of order, so it would confusing if you trying watching it the regular order, so you have to figure out the order of the episodes so that it all makes sense. it may be a little more work, but trust me, it's worth it. ;-)

I don't get where people are getting the idea that this is YukiXKyon implied, I just figured the song was about her slowly developing emotions and knowing she may be deleated from the Earth once she's not needed anymore or something. KyonXYuki is kinda cute... although Kyon doesn't seem to show much sign of being in love with her yet in the novels.

Meh...no offense to all the YukixKyon fans, but I can't see how this suggests such a thing. Rather, I think the lyrics are concerning something much deeper and more focused on Nagato herself.
The song itself is amazing, though...the lyrics, the instruments, the singing, everything sounds so beautiful and melancholic...

On the light meaning, I agree with the YukixKyon fans.
But in the deeper part, I agree with you full on. The meaning of this song is about her changing ever so slowly, and the all the instruments used in the song express that. Ms. Chihara's/ Ms. Nagato's voice is beautiful and it fits this song.

I'm somewhat embarrased to admit it, being a guy, but on every Nagato song, Under Mebius, SELECT, or any other one, I find myself singing along XD
As for this song in particular...somehow it always ends up being every other song I listen to XD can I go so far as to say it's my all-time favourite? Yeah, it is. Nagato's lyrics are always so much deeper and meaningful than any other anime character's songs I've seen, and this song really prove that fact. Not to mention the beautiful singing.

Anyways, I've read the novel up to volume 8 and I'm currently reading volume 9. ryvrdrgn15, when you put up in the info box that if someone has read volume 4, The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya(best volume ever), he/she can fully understand the song. If this is the case, call me an idiot for not understanding the song. I simply think that the song has a little side of volume 5(The Rampages). But oh well. Opinions are opinions.
