The Scottish government get given a single budget to do with what they please. If that means spending on different areas, such as NHS funding than the british government do, then so be it. - THE NHS IS NOT THE SAME IN SCOTLAND it's technically a different body loosely linked with the English NHS the welsh NHS and the NI Healthcare body.

@scottishlad1987 depends on what you mean by "healthy", "healthy" is objective. If you mean in general sense of "health" then neither England or Scotland are least, if you meant Obesity then no, While Scotland is either worst or near worst, most record it under "UK", England alone has far lower Obesity then Scotland and there are potentially several European countries in the middle of England and Scotland, like Croatia and Germany. So don't talk from ignorance, idiot.

@DoomsdayR3sistance i'm not talking from ignorance anymore, i was interested in it so i checked it out: germany has more overweight people than england, but england has more obese people. i technically border on overweight (85 kg and 6ft1), and i can tell you i don't have any fat on me at all, so that calculation doesn't really mean much. but anyway, england is second after scotland for obesity in europe. and it's not "far" lower, as you say.

@scottishlad1987 *yawn*. And by which system are you determining overweight, I'd advise you to look into what's called Body Fat Percentage, rather then just BMI, that or Hip-Waist Ratio. BMI only really indicates in honesty is if you eat too much (and yes, if you are overweight from "muscle" you are still eating too much too sustain that weight). I am curious about where you are pulling your figures from, because when I last checked there was not major across board differences over the whole EU

that said however, UK as a whole is rated worst but several other countries aren't far behind, if you separate Scotland and England then yes, England is dramatically "healthier". That isn't to say that England is full of skinny, gym going people but generally life-style and dietary choices tend to be better towards the south then the north even in England alone (where Scotland tends to be inline with the north). So I am curious where you are getting your figure from exactly.

@DoomsdayR3sistance yeah these methods make more sense, but my dad was found to be obese by a doctor who used bmi, so i'm not that surprised that they used that for these surveys. he's not even close to obese by the way. and no, i still maintain that england is very close to being as bad as scotland. and about separating off regions, well edinburgh has amongst the lowest number of fatties in the uk while glasgow has around the highest, you could keep breaking it down.

@scottishlad1987 I have no doubt, it's been proven a long time ago that people generally follow the traits of people they know, so if somebody knows people who are mainly fat, they are more likely to be fat and vice versa, people that know people who are thinner are going to feel more compelled to be thinner.
